You and your team need to get seriously better, even more so if you’re using team-speak. The strategy behind the torches are so simple it’s insane. Actually look up a guide before going in there buck-wild

i did it by chat in a pug and it was just fine… Took 20 min though but still not that much considering it was 5 random people.
It was a PUG, 4 out of 5 on TS, only 2 had done it before. It should be simple, but it wasnt. If it was SO simple it wouldnt be so hard to find a group to do it.
The mobs never spawed at the same time, and with 5 second respawn time it was impossible to coordinate.
Yeah one guy couldnt fight off the fire imps fast enough and live so yeah maybe hes got armor issues. Still think that tight of a timing kinda dumb.
Any of you leets care to earn a gold getting me through the path?

Seriously who thought the lighting the lanterns section was a good idea?
You have to win the lotto in perfectly timing the spawn rate for each of 5 groups with lighting the lanterns at exactly the same second.
This requirement for millisecond perfect timing needs to be fixed and make this a bit more reasonable for people to complete

If your respawns are out of sync, just hold off on killing the third mob until you’re all on the same page. Did this with a pug using only ingame chat and it took about 5 minutes to work out the kinks.

Actually Im at Fractals 11 with 2 pink rings. Ive run the swamp fractal many times and its WAY easier to coordinate than this was with 5 people.
Yes we tried saving the last of the mob to kill at the same time. Didnt seem to work out too well. Im reading that it will be reduced to 3 torches later this month.
If thats the case, Ill wait until then to complete this. Maybe people will be more willing to run it than Ive seen so far.
I just pugged it with a bunch of people who had never done it before with no TS. Are you even trying to co-ordinate? It’s honestly not as bad as people make it out to be.

The only difficult part of this torch event is that if you have only one player that fails, he cannot be carried anyway by the rest of the group.
Everyone needs to be able to kill at least one normal mob solo on is own and click on a torch.

you dont find people for a pug in this path for 2 reasons:
1) It takes longer than the others, therefore improductive.
2) Its not rare to find a random that cant coordinate his left hand with his right foot, so you are taking a risk to not even have the possibility to do it because of this dude.
So, lets say everyone has 1 mob to kill and is ready. Everyone kills its mob and says “ready”. A leader says? “ready all? Ok, 1… 2… 3… GO”. Thats it. If you dont have teamspeak you wait for 5 “r” and a leader also says go. But the leader isnt necessary either, you can just wait for the fifth “r”.
And thats it dude :P
before doing Path 3, make a team check and see if all party members can deal with 3 mobs against them and keep 1 alive hiting their back for a while. If you can do that, just kill the third one at the same time and activate the torch.
even with the changes comming path 3 will still be uncommonly run, not because it is hard, but because it is long. and to be honest unless they adjust the defend most pugs that currently fail at the torches will now just fail at the next step which is actually harder (unless there is some glitch people use that I dont know about / dont care to use as it isnt needed)
the path1 speed run and a p2 if really need tokens will still be what happens in CoF, just slightly more p3 will be run then the almost none now. So until there is major rehaul of dung to balance paths time/difficulty don’t expect the changes to the “harder and longer” path to do much
1. Everyone gets in their position, good idea to unequip armorpieces that spawn npcs. They can be a pain and kill your last mob too early.
2. Kill 2 out of 3 mobs, kite the last one around the torch. This keeps the group from respawning.
3. When everyone has one mob left, coordinate the kill through partychat/voicechat
4. When everyone has killed their last mob coordinate the lighting. Don’t spam the torches.
5. 5/5 and profit?
or you know, be a cheapass and just have everyone use a spykit.
Do your homework before complaining. People don’t run this path much not because it’s hard, but because it’s much longer than the other paths and the mind numbingly long, but easy bossfight in the end.

If you are a DPS build and somehow cannot survive dodging one telegraphed ranged attack every 5s, you drop aggro then burst down the little critter from 100% to 0% in 3s.

I was fine on my necro, elementalist and a mesmer could not even get close to their targets. Those critters sometimes spawn as vets.

Oo I never saw them do that. And if that happens, ask for help from your group, roflstomp them and make them respawn again as normal mobs.
Besides, you are supposed to be able to solo vets with a couple adds in this game. It happens often enough in skill challenges for example.

Yes, I’ve been doing some zone completion today, and have found a lots of soloable skill points where you fight a veteran + adds.
