Anyone else having any problems with these 2 dungeons, since the update? We tried AC Path 2 last night and accidentally wiped on the fixing the canon part, that caused so many more mobs to spawn in there places, that 12 of those strong class based mobs at once, pretty much nuked us instantly. We are all characters that have full exotics and after 1 accidental wipe, it became impossible. Now my Guild Mates tried COF Path 3 and the protect Magg part. They surposely replaced the 2 to 3 mobs with 12 to 15, making it impossible to pass. I am just curious if anyone else is having any problems with these 2 paths.

For AC, when Detha is defeated before she finishes the cannon repairs, if you revive her more ghosts come when she resumes the repairs regardless if the ghosts that defeated her are taken care of or not. It’s always a good idea to clear the ghosts before reviving Detha.

For CoF, the mobs that spawn aren’t that tough. Some AoE clears them pretty quickly but what you want to focus on is the invisible assassins that spawn. They slowly walk toward Magg during the event and spawn from 3 locations I’ve noticed: one near the door and 2 by the lavafalls. The trash mobs tend to aggro the nearest player while the assassins only attack Magg when they reach him so it’s important to dispose of them first.

I hear if you just kite the weak mobs while only killing the assassins, new mobs don’t spawn but I like killing them to make the encounter more exciting :P

Thanks for the tips, for COF Path 3, but with AC Path 2, we tried many things to finish it. We tried concentrate fire on one, couldn’t even get it down, before it wiped the party. It felt glitched or something how much health some of them had and how hard they were hitting. I think the AC in general to be honest, just feels like the new Dynamic Leveling balance makes you feel weaker. I seem as a mesmer taking more damage, than I use to remember in that dungeon.

I did AC path 2 last night and it was a breeze, we only ever had 5 or so mobs at each cannon phase and they never moved from thier start positions much since we intercepted them, that way the NPC always finished repairs and joined us in killing them before moving to the next cannon.

AC1 however was another story.. We could not defend the NPC at the first event for love nor money. They overran us or pinned us down with infinite knockdowns that last 4 seconds each.. you could not respond and were completely defeated before you knew what was happening.

If anything, whole of AC is nerfed. I feel the bosses go down way faster, silver mobs hardly breath twice. The only thing that seems buffed is the golden scavengers. They take more time to take down. Other than this all AC feels like a walkover now. Even more than before

For AC Path 2, if Detha goes down and your party gets wiped. Never ever revive Detha till you clear the entire area, else the ghosts will just add on.

I encountered that situation few nights back. Sometimes when you don’t notice and ghosts will grow in size (12 to 15) especially if you got wiped twice then revive Detha.

IMO, if the ghosts size goes to 10 or more, it makes sense to quit the AC then redo rather than trying ways to beat it. 3 or more necros ghosts wipe parties out fast.

That is annoying it does that, but thanks for telling me what we did wrong.

AC path 2 is a dps and gear check. Always keep them away from detha by kiting and using slows and aoe damage on them.

If you have someone in the group that is not following instructions or doesn’t know their class it can cause problems.

Always kill necro, monk, ranger, Mesmer and ele then warrior in that order.

Tagging them helps a lot.

Defending Maggs while he plants the bomb is CoF path 2 …

And yes, we could not complete this. After at least 6 attempts with different strategies, the best we could do was get Maggs to 72% completion before he died …

Didn’t know about the invisible assassins .. Certainly explains why the npc was dying so often .. How do you ‘see’ them if they are invisible???

Right, but OP mentioned Magg and Magg isn’t in CoF 3.

the assassins are see-able for a second or two after they spawn, then they use stealth so if you look close, you target it as it appears, and then the target stays after they stealth

COF path 2 (the one with Magg) was difficult for my guild too but we were able to get by it by focusing on the assassins. What we did was have all of us line up in front of Magg and had one ranged (mesmer I think) manually targetting the assassins with ctrl+T so we knew where they were in the horde of stuff. Because we were all clumped together the rest of the adds were dead before they did much damage/cc to us. We kept failing when we tried to just all fight out in the center of the room running around (too much wasted AE on mobs not in range).

Thanks for the info!
I’m surprised no one in our guild party knew about this, we were all on TS as well …

Still not sure how well the ‘wall’ strategy would have worked with our group. We were 3 rangers, 1 thief and I was on my guardian.

CoF2 I find pretty easy now. 0 deaths the entire run, with maybe 1 down state during that run-in with the mobs. If you call target on the assassins the second they pop up, you’ll be fine with kiting and the like, but beware that the last two assassins that pop up do so at the same time.

My last CoF2 party had this exact make-up and we managed to do it eventually (though we failed a couple of times first). What we ended up doing was having the rangers drag and kite the trash mobs far away from Magg so the thief and guardian could easily spot the Assassins, target them, and take them out.

The assassins are immune to most crowd control, but turns out chill and cripple work on them. Between figuring that out and working out the strategy above, we easily beat the new Magg section.

there is a trick to kill 2 groups of ghosts at the last cannon for ac2 .. i usually lure them
to the right side. where the ghosts are at the first pillar to the right
and our group stand almost near the 2nd pillar and range the ghost that stay
till the last 4. however if the ghost group contains too many range mobs this might not work.
