Can we have Subject Alpha NOT target pets
I think the point of Alpha is not to go out of the red circles, but time your dodges in a way you can stay in the red circles, but avoid the damage anyway.
agreed with milennin. it’s tricky, indeed, and i try to gtfo of those deadly venn diagrams asap, but knowing how to dodge while inside them is critical.
also, if pets are participating in the battle but aren’t being targeted, it may create balance issues. now if a fight’s gotta be toned down, subject alpha might be a good place to start (or at least add more variety! i actually enjoyed the fight and found it fun but i don’t wanna do the same thing three times in any path, let alone EVERY path…), but again it’s difficult to tell what kind of output you’re getting out of the pets vs. relative disadvantage of there* being more AoE damage.
*edit: their to there
Pets are already going to hit by circles targeting players because they’re not going to dodge. But players are going to get hit by pet targeted AoE’s because chances are they’re right next to them. And times when you could’ve just walked out or stood still becomes a dodge moment with more circles in play. Which just increases the risk of running out of endurance and running into geometry.
Alpha also targets banners
But yeah, in my opinion pets are generally getting short-end of the stick in dungeons so I wouldn’t making it bit better for them.
@ asterisk
this is a good point. it’s probably a disadvantage for people relying on pets substantially.
unless they’re spirit weapons. like us guardians need more advantages haha
Well i play CoE as MM. All my minions except one are melee, next to the boss. The only pet who could make things harder would be the ranged one, creating more aoes. If you’re a necro, don’t cast that minion. Ranger pets are melee and ranged. Use a melee pet, and minions+pet=faster/easier fight.
Melee pet is usually difference between falling asleep and actually having to do something (like try following the pet so that your circles match or just dodge all the time).
