I don’t know if this has been discussed before, but is it true that if you use fiery gs (ele elite) when his hp < 50%, it will trigger him to switch to gs as well?

I have not tested this formally, but before one pug told me about this, I used fiery gs elite all the time and he switch to fiery gs a lot of time. After being told, I never put fiery gs vs Ashym and I have yet to see him use it on me.

Can someone confirm?

From my experience, he starts with sword and shield, then swaps to staff then swaps to gs last. I think the staff swap is triggered by his hp reaching 50%, but the gs swap is timed based. I’m saying this because he only gets to swap to his gs when we are slow dpsing him.

No. From my experience, he will switch to his GS when he’s at low health AND someone is close to him. I haven’t seen him switch when everyone stays at ranged.
I make him switch just for fun now and then out of boredom.

We have done it many times where he never gets the sword out at all. It’s directly related to player range. If his health is under 50% and someone, NPC or player, remains in close range to him, he will eventually draw the sword out and aggro that person.

He starts using that sword at around 20-30% hp.

He starts casting meteror shower at around 50%.

At least that’s what I observed.

Okay, I guess range makes sense, Fiery GS makes me get up close to him after all. Time base wise, I don’t think that’s the case as I had been in a very slow group without triggering his GS.

So, the myth is busted!

I thought gs was timed based because whenever we had more than 2 warriors and we were all melee, he would swap to staff at 50% but never swapped to gs because we killed it too fast. Hence my presumption.
