I was wondering if there was a recent change to alpha (today) that I missed. You used to have to be in melee range to fight him effectively, but now even melee range gets targeted by his aoes. Its made my last two runs of this dungeon excruciating, this last run has taken 3 hours so far (im still in it, someone left and we are getting a new person) and have spent 1g+ in repairs.

Just finished it, man that guy sucks now. I thought his mechanic was that you had to remain in melee range to beat him, i guess its not or?

I don’t know, I’ve fought him in both melee (dual dagger) and range (staff) as Elementalist, and didn’t find him that much harder in ranged?

really? melee range (i was using axes as ranger, so not actual melee) I took very little damage and he was easy. When I ranged him it became 100x harder with his aoes coming after me.

depends on the path you do?

In front door and teleporter he can use teeth of jormag which IIRC can hit people standing ontop of him.

Well, I guess this would suck for melee professions, but as a necro I never go melee against this guy…he’s much more fun when you fight him ranged (ok, except the frontal spikes aoe, that can get a bit annoying).

He has different abilities for each path. Path 1 = Cone spike, Flame Burst(melee), Dtooth ranged. Path 2 = Frost spike 1x + Ring of Earths, Flame Burst (melee), Dtooth that wipes all condis off him(horrible mechanic). Not really familiar with 3rd path as I prefer to avoid that one because of the time sink that is the destroyer. Impossible to wipe on, literally impossible yet still takes 10m+ in your average pug.

Only Path 1 is pug-friendly.

The rest of the paths requires coordinated groups. Path 2 in particular has a very far away WP which SUCKS. ANET needs to bring WP closer to tougher bosses, and this applies for every dungeon.

Been there, done that. What’s next?
