Amidst the complaints and usual kittening we’ve come to expect from every update, I’d like to congratulate the Arenanet dev team on the new fractal, and the revamp on Swampland and Snowblind. The mechanics were well executed and proved for varied and more team driven fights.

When I first read that it was gonna be a mix and match of previous fractals I thought “Oh kitten this is gonna suck, what a lazy method of implementing a new fractal”.

Fortunately, I was proven wrong, the mechanics merged together well, the fractal itself was lengthy and fun. Not overly difficult to figure out and yet tough enough that it took my team at T2 (yeah they’re kinda noobs) a few tries to figure out how to complete it.

What did everyone think of the new fractal addition and the new modifications to Snowblind and Swampland?

Chaos:
Anomaly boss is 9/10 would fight again. Last boss is anti-melee/10. Ok fractal overall.

Snowblind:
Still have no idea why first event exists. Adding more gimmicks to it will not make it better. Ice elemental thingy is a lot better now. Not as good as old one when you could destroy his top though. Last boss is same annoying kitten with more kitten in the boss room. Why/10 for the rework.

Swamp:
Bloomhunger/10 no comments.

Chaos is alright. Visually it is absolutely amazing, but kind of bland to actually play through. It kind of lacks an identity and distinctiveness. Feels like a fractal ‘scramble’.

I enjoyed the old swamp. It was ‘the easy fractal’ and everyone was happy to see it in the dailies. Now Mossman’s fight is so short that it’s almost pointless (dude doesn’t even have the decency to invite us back to his hut anymore, lel) and Bloomhunger is just unpleasant. The mechanics are interesting, at least.

I have to admit Bloomhunger at T4 is over the top. Particularly the time you have to get to the wisps at the end seems low considering you have poison everywhere.

The damage or speed on the projectiles could be addressed as well, I usually play at around 150-220 ping due to my location and those things are basically undodgeable.

We did it last night, admittedly at a low level to get a feel for it, and I was really underwhelmed. Infact when the fractal last boss was done, we were all asking each other, is that it?

Thematically and from a design point of view it feels old and like an extension of what we have already had for 4 years or whatever. The first brand new fractal since thermo, and it was quite frankly boring. I think players were crying out for something much fresher, maybe tied into either HOT or the White Mantle. However, as they have said they are working on new fractals concurrently, hopefully not too long till the next one.

I rly dislike the new Snowblind no more source os.

About the Chaos Fractal I dislike the fact that it is a mix of old fractals, srsly i am tired of seeing the old structures over and over again.
And can someone explain me which story this fractal has?
However the encounters and goating in the Fractal is fun

Edit: Bloomhunger fight is interesting but the timegate every 25% is bad design

Did the new Chaos fractal on t4 last night. Once we figured out the mechanics, it was a lot of fun. Gorgeous design.

Chaos is really nice, except the final gladiator guy. Bosses that punish melee so much aren’t fun.

Does it punish too much or should we approach it differently? I’m not sure, but I intend to find out. Perhaps a healer/tank type approach would allow for melee with an evade/block on the third attacks?

I really think it’s too early to complain too much when it very well may be possible with a bit more practice.

He gives a debuff to the party member that’s furthest away from him that makes him more likely to go after that one. The boss is also designed to be kited frequently to strip the shield, so ranged appears to be the way to go and either being fast on your feet or increasing your survivability.

You could try it with a tank-geared ranged class but the same problems are going to arise.
