I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since launch (and even before that) and if there is one thing I have realized about dungeons is that people have found ways to cheese their way through them. what I mean by this is that people are finding places where they can stand during a boss fight at just auto attack him from range and the boss will just sit there and do nothing. It makes it very boring for players who actually want to experience all the content the way it was supposed to be played while the rest of the group just looks for a faster way to finish the dungeon and get their tokens at the end. Hope this is something you guys can resolve.

It’s fixed. See the January 28th patch notes in the News and Announcement forums. I, for one, am happy about this.

I am aware that they fixed the spawning at a waypoint while fighting a boss thing, but there are still problems. For example, in CM you can jump up these rocks and run on the mountain to skip half the dungeon. Things like this upset me because I enjoy playing the game and I enjoy trash pulls.

Just make sure to /bug any dungeon skipping or exploits you come across. The devs will fix it if they think it’s and issue and they won’t if they don’t.

I’d rather regret something I’d done than regret doing nothing.

People cheese through dungeons because they are really tedious, take too long to get through, or have some sort of near impossible encounter that can’t be beaten without cheesing. (Or would take specific builds/classes to do it and is generally a pain)

If you remove those options without compensating then the unintended consequence would simply be that no one will run those dungeons anymore.

If killing content is what you want then that’s the way to do it.

I am aware of certain Dungeons being a little difficult and one may feel the need to cheese through it to complete it, but not all are like this. Some boss encounters are just fine to fight and not have to try 30 times before beating but still players just sit on a rock out of the bosses reach and auto attack him. I can’t count the amount of times I have tabbed out of GW2 will fighting a boss due to the fact that i’m just to bored sitting there doing nothing. Again these are my opinions and I understand that they are not shared by everyone, some people like being able to get through dungeons quick and move onto other things, I however don’t and would like to know if they ever plan on doing anything about it.
Thx for all the replies guys…Love the GW2 community!

If you find running dungeons boring and repetitive then you should be doing something else, or playing a different game, instead of ruining it for the people who actually want to PLAY the game.

That’s all there is too it. Bored of running the same dungeon over and over? Take a break, do something else, don’t punish us for your boredom.

To skip, to cheese or to kill all enemies in a dungeon. Everyone has their own way of handling the situation of a dungeon. If you do not like the way they handle it?? Then perhaps you do not belong with their group. You will only ruin it for the rest of the population (that is probably hanging by a thread) of the game itself. Once again it comes to.. this game is for EVERYONE. Not just you! Why can’t people see this??

Figure I put in my opinion too hehe

Just make the dungeon gears free and whatever else is desired from the dungeons free. Problem now solved and no need to run the tedious terrible dungeons. Kidding but really why are you even in there?

Because the prizes in the achievements are a must to those who don’t have your apparent time to play. They fall behind when unable to get said rewards. They force people to do dungeons by offering the carrot on a stick. You get the reward along with the others more reachable. Then others fall behind because of unreachable goals for them. I mean, congrats on you achieving max gear, and having the time and patience to run these dungeons in over coordinated groups, but some of us have real life responsibilities in between game time, and can’t have that luxury. This person is entering the dungeon because it’s required to receive the same candy you’re getting Kid. In all seriousness, not handing out anything for free as you satirically say, but removing social-class specific activities from the monthly achievement.

Take too long is a relative term. This game has the shortest dungeon runs of any game I have ever played.

Many viable builds exist for classes. Granted some are more favorable than others such as the “Auto-Attack” build for each class. Press 1 once then go for a bio, #1 build for most dungeon bosses.

Kill content eh. Considering the gear is not a step above what you can buy or make after a couple hours of play what is the purpose of running dungeons? Certainly not the challenge. Certainly not a time sink. Certainly not a learning experience. What exactly should a person do after putting 100 or so hours into the game?

Compensate…. Really!!! Many would consider the easy cheesy runs that have existed for months to be more then enough compensation for years of play. In fact, what about removing all the gear and money gained by exploiting, that seems fair.

Funny that you say that. In my experience, if I join another party, I play the way that party wants to. But around 80% of the time if not more, when people join us having done said dungeon before, they automatically assume we are going to exploit anything possible. Not only do they assume it, but attempt to take control of the group. They charge off to the exploit and start telling everyone else to follow them. Only once have I ever seen it the other way around and only once have I actually seen somebody suggest an exploit but accept that the group did not want to use it.

I don’t care if other people want to play differently to the way I do, but I am sick to death of people joining us and basically demanding that we exploit everything possible and ruin our enjoyment by doing so whether we join them or not.

Every time they end up luring an enemy into some cheesy location that bugs a boss out of attacking or acting properly, it ruins the fun for those of us who want to do it properly as intended by the developers.

If you are not willing to play either with or without exploits, at least have the decency to confirm that your playstyle of choice is in fact the one that the group will be going for before you enter a dungeon with them.

It’s really sad that this game has a community that for the most part expects people to exploit.

There’s skipping via running/stealth, then there is skipping via glitching the terrain which is still very possible on CM. Definitely not the same as running.

There are also still many positions where bosses or enemies have reduced functionality, like the CM P1 final boss, jumping on the hut causes many of his forward attacks to miss but still hits you with just enough not to trigger invulnerability.

There is also a position on the HotW P1 Boss very similar. There are pillars in AC P2 that can be jumped on in the mortar room to avoid the necro and ranger ground traps.

There are many exploits that remain still. They only fixed the ones where you literally couldn’t be touched at all. But it remains that as long as the enemy can scratch you with at least one puny attack, that’s all it really takes to avoid triggering invulnerability.

You obviously haven’t played many dungeons outside of COF p1 and you obviously haven’t played many mmos if you think dungeon runs are the shortest of any mmos.

Dungeons exp are run for the tokens in exchange for gear for players that don’t craft. It’s an alternate way to get their gear. Making it too hard for those players or removing the rewards would effectively “kill” the content as I originally explained.

And what can a person do after playing for 100 hours? How about wvw or spvp? How about exploring 100% of the map?

I clocked nearly 900 hours in this game since it launched and I still run dungeons.

If I were just teamed up with clones of my self I’d have 0 problems with any dungeons in this game. The main problem is a dungeon takes a team of 5 different people, and a majority of the times you get inexperienced or bad players.

Previously this was a nuisance, now it means team wipe and disband and more wasting time looking for others.

This unintended consequence is something people like you never considered when you post your rants about how “easy” things are.
