[Chrono] Raid Tank build - Rune of Durability
It’s harder to make sure you can be both chrono roles if your party already has a tank with those Durability runes though. With the basic zerk/commander’s, you can easily lower or raise your toughness by swapping out a few trinkets…the runes means you have a higher base toughness to work around. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Durability runes on my tanking armor but if a Chrono only has one set of armor, the Leadership runes are the best bet so they can fit both roles.

There is no both chrono roles. The build with dura runes is optimized for 100% boon duration and your dps is maintained. No one should have more toughness than you ) if they do they are not wearing raid appropriate gear). In rare cases, you can still swap amulet or back for extra toughness.

First of all, Leadership isnt “extremely difficult” to farm for anyone that can press 1 in either pve or wvw. It takes time to build up map currencies(or proof of heroics) if you don’t have them, but that does not make it ‘difficult’. You might as well argue that the ascended commander pieces you have in your build are harder to farm than the runes.
Secondly, effective power using raid buffs is higher for the leadership variant using the numbers in your submitted screenshots, meaning that the conclusion that “durability is the winner” is incorrect.
All in all you have achieved more or less nothing with this build. Its another way of building a chronotank, but it’s not better in terms of min/maxing, and I’d argue that the ascended commander pieces are more annoying(or “difficult” using your own words) to farm than the leadership runes.
DPS Benchmarks, Raids, Low-mans etc.
I personally think that Rune of the Herald is better than Rune of Durability just because it enables you to easily control the protection application and easily maintain ~80% subgroup uptime of the boon without much effort. Rune of Durability is only really useful in cases where you can’t use 20% boon duration food because you really want the 10% damage reduction from Mussels Gnashblade. If you aren’t carrying on a Minstrel’s set and are trying to optimize for DPS, however, then Rune of Leadership is far and away superior to other options.
Each rune has its purpose for different builds and contexts. If you’re just pubbing raids / fractals and don’t care about total optimization then just use whatever is more accessible to you so long as you hit the 100% boon duration threshold and don’t go over. Side Note: Runes of the Herald are on the TP which makes them very easy to get!
Not really sure what role this build is meant to fit. Like if you wanna be full support/pug carry then you could just take minstrels with herald runes for strong prot uptime + decent sustain without relying on pugs to heal you.
In organized groups, our chrono runs like 1005 toughness if he wants to tank and that’s all he needs (although he might run more for Xera/VG/Deimos just to make his life easier).
I just don’t really see a reason to make a third set where you’re trying to max your damage at the same time when you’re trying to pug where the damage isn’t gonna be max anyway and you’re just trying to clear it. 1400+ also might not be enough because pug druids run some clerics to mix and I’ve seen some run around 1.5k toughness. Just seems like a lot of effort to make a 3rd chrono set with very little benefit.
I have been using durability rune all the time.
For me the reason is simple: durability is a viable rune for WvW as well. I can play both gamemodes effectively with one set of gear. This saves so much money and trouble.

i think his point was that a raid wants 2 chronos and if you pug then you dont know if the other chrono is flexible with regards to tanking or not so its better for you to be flexible so you can work around their kitten , and leadership is better for that
