I understand it’s supposed to be hard, I get it.

Does anyone else have major problems with him? My main complaint is the red circles that cover 3/4 of the floor, that make it almost impossible to dodge. You dodge once, he does it again, dodge twice… and if you are lucky you have a utility/skill dodge, so you can dodge again. After that, you are done. 1 hit KO’s I can deal with (I’m a toughness/vit/power built Ele, and I understand I’m squishy, no complaints there) but the fact is is that I can barely slip an attack in before I need to dodge away.

IF there was a waypoint closer, then It wouldn’t be such an issue.

Thoughts?

Is this path 2? If so, Turn up your sound effects. There is a sound effect you hear before he does the massive AOE spikes that cover majority of the floor. You can easily dodge it if you take note of the timing. It’s kind of like ‘Sound..1..2..3..SPIKES’ on 3 you want to dodge. So you can easily stay standing in that.

The fight is much harder if you have for example your own music playing and don’t realize there is a timing to it.

Its a team effort man. As an ele I always go scepter dagger (for Phoenix which grants vigor upon returning). Dont dodge dragons tooth, need to res 2 on 1 if someone gets downed and use lightning flash to get out of the crystals. My guild did it with 2 pick-ups last night and I was only downed once in the final fight.

Get to the point where you and your group can survive and waypoint distance isnt an issue. Usually when I take randoms, myself and a guildie will go dance with Alpha for a while on the first fight, while they stand at the door and watch. The more people that are up, the more likely it is youll get rezed, so its important that everyone knows the figh well enough to survive a while.

Other than that, stay in his face with your group and dodge through him, so that everyone is still nearby if someone gets downed.

All paths are virtually the same, the last boss does the same thing. Front door is ok- you can back off and dps. Teleporter is not fun, and I don’t remember sub that much. I never have the volume on to listen to the sounds because I’m on vent and have GW2 muted.

Actually, that’s completely wrong. Depending on the path, the boss does different attacks. So I’ll just lay out what to do in each path:

Submarine Path: Just stand in melee range. Have your entire party do it and the fight is ridiculously easy.
Teleporter Path: The boss does a tricky setup here. First thing you’ll want to know is that you can literally walk away and out of the red circles that are around if he is using Dragon’s Tooth. That covers one of his attacks. The second attack he does is a mass AoE on each of your party members. Your party should be split up so that there is no confusion as to which circles are meant to be cast on who. This is the tricky part of the fight. The boss is casting a single ice-spike on one party member, and casting an earth ring on every other party member. The difficulty lies within trying to see if you have the ice spike or the earth ring. To tell, you can simply look at the ground beneath your feet. Is there ice slowly crystallizing? Then it’s the ice spike and you need to get out of your red circle. If it is just a patch of ice already there, you actually need to stand still. The earth ring will not hit you if you don’t move. That’s all there is to do in this path.
Front Door: Stay spread out, but stay in a medium range of the boss. This will help you keep your red circles in line, as well as keep your party from getting insta-gibbed from his earth spikes.

This is just a quick overview, but you get the idea. There is definitely a differing strategy for each path.

In path 2 wayp will be closer? Now run take 1 minute from wayp to boss… Who designed that?

I never noticed that before, I’ve only run front door and teleporter consistently, and didn’t notice the change in tactics with him. I’ll keep that in mind while I run it another 6+ times for my dagger skin.

Weird…submarine is arguably the easiest. Why pick front door for farming?

In every path I just go inside Alpha (disable melee-assist).
