So me and my guild were running CoF last night with little to no problem and quite enjoying the 60 token for first run might I add when we get to this event. Every time we had done it successfully was to stagger 1 person in, 2 people in and 2 people again rotating deaths. I know this is not the real way to do this nor the intended way. So we decided to actually really try to do it legit. This was pretty hard. I would like to know the proper strategy how to do this. Which targets should be taken down first. The HP pools seem rather large for a 2 minute event and the spawns after 30% on the clock increase rapidly. Has anyone killed all the npc’s or do you just need to target specific and continue to kite? Thanks for any info.

i also tried this event last “legitimately” rather than doing the suicide chain that you describe. I have done the suicide route a few times and know it works well at the expense of a small repair bill of course. This event is absolutely insane if you are supposed to kill all of these mobs that spawn. My group was able to kill a few of them but quickly got overrun. I dont think its possible to kill everything that spawns and it has to be intended that you eventually get overrun and start running around kiting them. Theres absolutely no way to do enough DPS to kill even half of what spawns before that door blows up. I had good success last night going into that room with my group, killing about 2 or maybe 3 of these guys and then just having everyone running around trying to survive. those that died would quickly make their way back to keep the event going. Seems a bit too tough but theres a couple of ways to do it. I think a mix of “elite” and non elite enemies would make more sense for that event rather than just super powerful spawns appearing quickly. that is if they intend for you to actually try to kill everything

I forget the names but should be focus fire on all the fire shaman npc’s first? Since they ground aoe and explode. The npc’ rangers don’t seem to do actually to much until there are like 5-6 of them coming after you.

On guild run we never have problem with that event, its rlly easy kill them if team focus properly.
We always try hold enemies together and nuke them with aoe dmg, and always focus smokelords and other enemy with flamethrower (Dunno exacly name). Its even more easy then kite

I think if you want to fight you just have focus the shamans because they have the damage and aoe. also it’s 200 seconds I believe not 2 minutes

Tired it today, took an hour, failed, people left, spent all those hours in dungeon for nothing. Tired everything said here, the running around, the focus fire. Repair bill went up to like 30k, so 2 people gave up.

Total waste of time, didn’t gain anything, just a big repair, at no part was this fun. gw 1 was way more fun, you can see what skills the boss used, so then you would react accordingly.

The amount of “skill” required in this = how good you are at running around before a mob that can shoot a 10 k damage to your face kills you.

before the buff, me and my guild friends took several tries and finally figured out how to do the dungeon. We were pretty happy with that, so we went back for more.

Now its just a plain boring mad dash because no more skill was involved,

increasing dps of monsters and their hp so it makes sure you die is not fun, figuring things out is fun, but I guess the developers lost sight of that and decided make everything kill you easier = fun.

needless to say, I won’t me playing much gw2 any more,

call me what you like, noob, too lazy to figure out tatics blablbla but I am a grown man and need to work to pay the bills, I have 2 hours at most to play this game and I came on to have fun and this is no fun at all. It geared towards kids who could spent 8 hours a day who can play this game so much that they can do it with ease.

Kudos to them because that what I was in gw 1, but now I can’t be spending 6 – 8 hours figuring out dungeons and grinding money from henches on the map so I can go in a dungeon to lose all of it in repair bills and have nothing to show for me.

On the record I completed CM, Ta, cof and others I forgot the name of after fail the first few tries and then everything became smooth because me and my guild mates figured it out. Now there is nothing to figure out, the developers just decided to buff hp and dps to make it impossible. No fun at all. so I am off to other games.

It’s nice to see a post actually asking for some suggestions instead of whining about how difficult and impossible it is. The way that I’ve been running my groups and calling targets, and the logistics behind those calls is as follows:

Mobs that you NEVER focus as a priority unless nothing else is alive:
* Shadowsworn: They just run around and hit you. If you can’t move from them / kite them you should brush up on that.
* Stalkers: They don’t hit hard enough to be a concern, and used to be ‘normal’ mobs with low HP that a single player could take down in ~10 attacks. Since the change these mobs have been buffed so they don’t logistically make sense to attack. Their attacks are projectile based and there are plenty of classes with counters to this.

Kill Priority!

  • Smokelords: #1 DPS Priority due to a few reasons.
    * They have an AOE based ability (the lava font looking thing) that explodes for enough damage to kill a player, and in the heat of the moment it’s very easy to miss and die to.
    * They have a projectile based attack that is thrown, hits very hard and is very hard to see even when there’s one of them alive, and next to impossible to see when there are 10 mobs running around the area.
    * They’re relatively stationary. This makes them relatively easy to kill since you don’t have to chase them all over the place.
  • Fanatics:
    * These are #2 (notably due to the sheer number of them and desire to weed them out, and the fact that Hellstorms can be controlled relatively easy)
    * These mobs are also relatively stationary, and don’t have any attacks other than the flame line that hits too hard, so they’re not as high of a priority as Smokelords.
  • Hellstorms
    * You should most likely have one person with alot of interrupts (I’m a thief, so I generally do it with pistols for this fight) handle this guy primarily if you’re dpsing something else. If you have the free time to kill it, go for it, but the biggest source of damage from these mobs is their flamethrower. They pull you in, run at you with it, and generally wreak havoc with it. Fortunately, it’s a channeled cast with a huge visual and easy to interrupt and control, so these mobs don’t get huge dps priority.

Keep in mind that the initial pack is only 3 mobs, 2 shadowsworn and one smokelord – and if you have someone who can pull all 3 in together and such, you can AOE them down pretty quickly so that there’s nothing up for the second pack.

Realistically by the time the 4th/5th pack arrives, you’re in survival mode, but it’s definitely doable, and good luck!
