CoF: Protect Mag as he sets up the bomb......

You don’t have to bug it out. I’ve done it these past few times with 2 guardians, a warrior, a ranger and my Ele. What we did was line up outside the room and have people go in one by one after the other person died. Once the timer got to around 80% we all went in. Once you die you just gotta run back and repeat it.
I do agree with you on the mobs spawning though. It’s impossible to kill them all with how fast they spawn…
The timer is NOT the issue, it’s the massive amount of mobs that spawn around 60%. IIRC there’s at least 15 and most will 1-shot low hp chars.
You do not have to bug it out or suicide protect the bomb. Most people are not changing their utility / elite skills just for that room. My entire group changes their entire set of utility and elite skills for that room so we can kite it. Fortunately, four of us are Asuran and all four of us bought the D-Golem (like idiots). That thing actually eats up aggro in that room extremely well. However, almost any pet can work to some degree in that room to buy time. Additionally things like Fear Me work really well. We’ve done it a few times with only 1 death, but a few people were downed.
All that said, I’m still waiting for Mr. Developer to post a video of them killing all the mobs in the room “as intended”.

Agreed. If the room is working as intended, let us see the devs killing all of those mobs.
Can you please make this somewhat doable without having to bug it out… or to just keep tossing bodies at it and hope for the best.
either lesser the respawn on the mobs, or make them not all champians.. with only 1-3 champs….
it’s not enjoyable at all.. at all. And it’s no wonder, players have totally stopped doing CoF
lol im an ele and i live to 90% easy. its not that hard just change your skills before you start and kill the mage in the first spawn.

The bomb planting part is fine in how it’s currently run. It’s literally only longer, do you what you did before for an extra 90 seconds. I do agree though that it would be a lot nicer if they made it an actual fight and not a kite fest though. That’s just a lot more fun than running around in circles for 3 minutes.
What they NEED to fix is howkittenbuggy the magmacyte portion is. The part where Magg wants you to hop across the lava. It bugs out for me and others on my server 3/5 runs. Where he refuses to meet someone at the other end when they get there. Then he just slowly dies while standing still. Once he goes down, as many of you know, the run is basically over. It takes forever and a day to get him up, repeatedly, to reset the event. Sometimes if you port back to start he auto-resets, but sometimes he doesn’t. If he falls into a fire circle, forget about it. There are a few time-consuming ways to get past that part even if it messes up, but they’re annoying as hell and things no one should be forced to do.

No, see, by making it take 100s longer they made it an actual fight, and not a kite fest. Wasn’t that obvious? (I’d call out a certain dev, but we aren’t allowed to do that)

why not? if they said it they are accountable, if you don’t agree with them but they’ve made a statement you’re entitled to say so :S why are you getting the impression that you aren’t? if there’s a forum TOS violation I’d genuinely love to see where in the TOS it is stated just for reference
increasing the time and amounts of spawns no more makes the mob less of a kite fest, than say increasing their health to even further silly padded levels.
that makes NO logical sense. it proves the opposite in fact
The dev that created CoF wanted to make it do we actually fight them, fair enough I would like to fight them. But 3 champions spawning every 10-20 seconds for 200 seconds…really? No one can survive that at all thats why we have to do the stupid line up thing. I want to fight them but it’s not possible.

Here’s the key to this entire thing, the dev reply showed a complete lack of understanding of why people were kiting the event. It was not because the timer was short. Doubling the timer did not stop the kiting. In fact, kiting is still the easiest way to complete the encounter, and the only way I’ve seen it done. I’ve been in with well geared, well coordinated, and properly spec’d groups that tried a kill strat. The mobs will spawn faster than a single one can be downed because you cannot put out the dps required to down them. They have too much hp for the damage they do. If they had high hp, you could race dps. However, their damage is so high that you must spend too much time dodging and evading attacks to put out the proper level of dps to do the event. People were kiting the event because it was not physically possible to kill the mobs with their HP, damage, and the rate they were spawning. This has not changed. The changes still do not encourage a kill strategy, if anything adding more mobs to the encounter actually discourages it even more.
I fully agree with you Chilsung.3710.
Kill strategy is just not possible because of 3 simple reasons:
- mobs have too much HP
- they do too much damage
- the spawnrate is too high
Arenanet needs to change that.
@ noxin
that is because the other 2 runs are bad
the superweapon path involves a ridiculously tuned boss fight that requires a specific party setup, and for no one to screw up at all or the fight gets completely reset.
And the other path is 100% bugged and never gives the end reward, making it impossible to get the actual tokens from it.

I have a theory that goes a little something like this. Players will always try to fight a hostile target placed in front of them in a dungeon. When they discover that this is not possible, they will then resort to other methods with which they are familiar. In short – kiting/corpse training is never the first choice, it’s the response to the first choice not being feasible.
If I can come to that conclusion, I’m sure a certain content developer is capable of the same. Whether or not they choose to act on that information is what will determine the future of dungeons in this game.
Frankly, I’m still astonished by the comment made recently about how the NPCs during that event only hit for 3-4k. At first I thought it was sarcasm, but then I realized it was a serious dev post and I died inside a little bit.
