CoF path 3 madness
It’s tough.
What I can suggest is teamspeak, and ash legion spy kits.
Also for the torches, kill all but 1 mob, then when everyone is ready, kill that one mob.
ive done path 3 twice, it’s certainly not something you’d want to do a lot considering how easy path 1 & 2 are.
but I found it far more fun than any coe path.
full clerics guardian, and 2 healing warriors and 2 glass dps. both times did the waves without any deaths. I know people in my guild had issues with the waves when they tried it with 5 glass

Yep thats the tactic, except you want to keep 2 mobs alive, at least the last time i did path 3 the next wave started when one mob was left.
What we did was this:
Kill the whole wave except 2 mobs, then nearly rez all the friendly NPC’s, heal up and get skills of CD. When everyone is ready you rez all the friendly NPCs, kill the last 2 mobs and then you got a pretty okey meat shield of NPCs for the next wave.
We did it with me as guardian(def-tank knight gear), 2 warriors(balanced dps), thief(dps) and an support ele. For us it was all about range reflect skills and just your normal group utility skills.
To be honest the “bomb run” was more difficult then the waves.

If I understand correctly, you supposed to be able beat challenges with tools that the game provides you. It doesn’t have VOIP function, so you must be able to run third path using only text chat.
So, it must be balance issue.
the one time i’ve ever done path 3 was using in-game chat. sure it took us a few tries as over half the group was our first time in there but in the end, we prevailed yay. so it IS doable. what Power was suggesting was merely that it can be made (a lot) less frustrating with VOIP. : ))

I run all three paths of CoF almost daily. I do not believe it needs to be nerfed at all and it’s far from the hardest dungeon path out there.
The torch part in the beginning can be tough if you have a lot of fragile players or people who do not listen to instructions. I’ve completed this stage in less than 5 minutes before and have also taken around 30 minutes other times. The more randoms, or players new to the path, in the party the harder it tends to be.
The method I use, and have found to be the easiest, is to have everyone at their torches, kill all but one of the three mobs nearest, say, “1” in chat when one is left, have everyone kill after five 1s, and then once everyone has killed their last mob and types r in chat we say, “Go” and everyone lights. When doing this path, with players I normally play with, we usually get it done in one to three tries. When I’m doing it with randoms it typically takes longer and we usually have to shift people around until we have everyone at one they can handle.
If one or two players are having trouble it usually works best to place them on the easier torches. The double one makes it easy for someone to help one of them out. One torch, I think the one right at the start, can be done without drawing any agro most of the time.
I’ve never had any real trouble on the capture part with the waves. Sometimes a player or two die but the waypoint isn’t very far away and they can usually get back pretty fast. I don’t think this stage is any harder than the bomb room in path 2. My advice would be to make sure you and your party members are making full use of cc skills and combos off each other, and call targets. Reflect walls/bubbles and smoke screens can also be helpful.
I would like to see more done with the final boss of path 3 though. He’s a little on the boring side. It’s always funny when someone gets blasted off into the lava and we always give each other a hard time, but his few attacks get very repetitive. I’d like to see his health decreased and his damage increased and give him some sort of aoe skill that rains down and possibly does knockback. Maybe even shrink the platform a little or make it so you drop down onto it so you can’t fight from the bridge. As is, the fight seems too long for the repetitive moves the boss does.

If your team lacks dps for magg’s defend event, I’d consider doing path 3, it’s really easy if you got voip and even faceroll if you got ash kits.
Path 3 is really easy.
For torches, it’s easiest to be done in chat. Here’s how I used to explain it to pugs, I usually took charge and coordinated the group:
•3 mobs spawn at each torch, kill 2, leave 1 alive, preferably at about ~50% or less hp, type 1 when you’ve accomplished this.
•After 5 1’s, I will say kill, you then kill your mob, type r after you’ve killed your mob.
•After 5 r’s, I will countdown, 3-2-1 light. You light when I say light, don’t light until I’ve said light, and don’t spam your torch, press f only once.
If your group has a basic understanding of English and can follow very simple directions, it should be easy.
On the waves, The next wave spawns when 1 mob from the previous wave is left. If you’re really having trouble on this, leave 2 mobs alive, res npc’s, heal up, and try to even out the mob hp so you can kill them both quickly. Focus casters down, kite shadowblades, really easy stuff.
This path should not be nerfed, it’s fine the way it is (Except maybe last boss, he either needs a total rework, or just nerf his hp, such a long boring fight)

one can organize even without VOIP. It just a matter of how well can you coordinate with your teammates. And plz the argument i will not use VOIP because it is not an ingame tool is a not a strong one.

I’ve done it with complete random people without voip. So it’s quite possible.
Mumble and vent definitely helps. But make sure Ur prerequisite for founding members is “brain required” b/c if one effs up it will be very long as we discovered that our really dumb necro didn’t understand what is mumble. Got through, but this one guy had to do 2 ppl jobs while our necro was just running around for 30 min mindlessly on the torch part.
But it was funny even though it was hard cuz we were mocking our necro on mumble. He cannot get pass the bomb room while 4 of us (all light armors) basically did it. Even after we finished killing everything (2 of the party was naked) he still can’t get through and had to use wp….
The stand on ground wave battle wasn’t that bad, we only died once.
And at the end boss it ended up like this:
Lava pool fail result
Necro :4 – died 2x
Rest of party: 1
Anyway, on the waves part try to keep two alive and Rez Npc for meat shield. Healing, slowing, and anything other than glass cannon that increases DMG output helps. For example, our necro and Mesmer was hitting the mobs w/ vulnerability skills. With addition of Mesmer time warp x2 + ele conjour fiery great sword + spam healing/regen it did so much damage that it made the battle easier.
Our party was 2 mesmers, 1 ele, 1 necro, and 1 really dumb necro.

Meh… myself get a hard time to pass the torchs even with my warrior. I have some lag issues and most of the time I pass the torches and then I drop dead aparently far away from torches when everyone sees me one or two torches to end. Most time I had to guess the time to start running than to look at the torches.
Anyway. The path 3 is totally doable and not boring at all (I really want to know if people using boring this days really know what this mean) except for last boss. In the beginning in a pug is real funny, but when people understand the tatics its just annoing. DPS, run to bridge, DPS, run to bridge… Why not we have more bosses with 3 ou 4 part fights with different strategies?
Honestly this path imo is one of the best in game. I’d hate to see it turned into another faceroll.
As someone mentioned, communication is key.
You must be kidding me, why even nerf one of the few slightly challanging pathes left? Most dungeons are brainafk already.
I’ve attempted path 3 of this dungeon so many times, wasted so many hours. I’ve tried VOIP co-ordination, leaving one mob alive, but for me all the mobs re-spawn even when you leave one alive. I find it too difficult to kill the mobs as a glass character anyway, so it makes no difference. I just die in the process.
Anyway, I’ve become utterly devoid of any motivation to keep trying on this path. Until they do something about it, I shan’t be bothering with it at all.
