I say this in jest; however, I do wonder at times if it is true, that I have a cursed account with the inability to get good loot in fractals.

I know it is all random, but when I have done all 100 levels, and do nearly every fractal daily, daily (lol), to get a total of 2 ascended boxes in that time seems cursed.

My guild mates find it hilarious, and we all share a laugh at my expense, each time they get an ascended box, when I end with nothing. It has become a game, how many boxes my lower level guild mates can get before I do. We were doing training today at T3, and my guild mate got a pink chest in the first run. She laughed and laughed and I confess once more, my account must be cursed.

Funny story, or is it possible to actually have a cursed account? Been playing since launch and have gathered quite the magic find bonus etc. Long completed to fractal 100, and have not got 1 single ascended chest from T4 dailies in months….2 or 3 lifetime.

Maybe I should move to EU and get a blessing of the shamrock? lol

All in good fun, but at times it does get frustrating.

Judging from anecdotal evidence and from what I’ve experienced personally, I’m inclined to believe so.

I saved up 35 of the t1/2/3/4 boxes, opened them and got 2 ascended armor boxes.

It’s not possible; that’s not how randomness is programmed in games.

As humans, we tend to see patterns, even when there aren’t any. We are particularly good at noticing negative patterns (bad luck), somewhat okay at remembering the good (good luck), and atrocious at remembering how often things are just ‘normal’ (e.g. average luck).

Keep track of your drops for ninety Tier 4 fractals, even if it’s just “ascended box: yes|no” (and ignoring the rest). After a month of 3 dailies/day, show us what you find out. Then you can start talking about whether you are having a good streak or not.

I have witnesses in the guild Illconceived Was Na. I wish I was joking. Been doing all the T4 dailies for the last 3 months with friends, and they watch as I have pulled only 1 box in that time. Cause we are nerds and have 3 game rigs set up in my man cave, they often get a box, and the laughing starts….I know why they laugh. I’ve even tried maxing out all magic bonuses and opening 100 at a time from all 4 tiers together. 2 friends at that time watched, and will vouch that they turned up not a single box….i did get a useless non infused ring or 2 lol.

Anyway, as much as it is frustrating, I continue to do fractals with my friends because we have fun. Loot or no loot, we will continue. But I still maintain I must have a cursed account.

I’m sorry for your bad luck, but that doesn’t mean your account is any different from anyone else’s. RNG doesn’t care what luck you had for breakfast.

Ill Conceived Was Na, that is why I opened with “in jest”.

The joke is that my account is cursed as others around me get rewards. Thought it would be a funny share to see how many others are as truly unlucky as I am. Does not take away from my enjoyment of the game at all, we have a fun group of guildies.

I have bad luck too, but then again:I have only done t4 once and t2 once and most of what i did was t1 and TT and i’ve done dragon stand a few times.Haven’t seen a single ascended item.

I did get once a exotic greatsword with nice stats from TT, but thats about it.The ascended ring i got i bought i believe, and my ascended dagger has bad stats(melee stats) instead of condi stats from pvp.I Guess its bette than nothing.

One possible counter to the feeling that you are especially unlucky is to keep actual records, which can counteract the “feeling” with facts.

I say this because, well, it’s generally the case that people remember bad luck better than good luck, so you tend to feel unlucky even if you are doing just fine.

(OTOH, it also means you could go to anet with a credible set of stats to back up “bad luck protection” for fractal boxes, etc, if you really are the unlucky outlier way down one end of the bell curve.)

I have the same issue with raids, we have someone in our guilds who got lots of ghostly infusions while most of us only got 1 or 2.
There’s always a guy who will get 3/4 mini pets per run, a few weapons and rings, while the rest of us get nothing.

I guess people don’t mind broken RNG systems otherwise it’d be out of MMOs for a while now.

But oh well, at least with fractals and raids there’s a way to grind to get something (even though it takes YEARS of raids to get complete sets) but with a set like the sunless one, it’s just not reasonnable to rely only on RNG to get the skins.

Have you ever tried to remove the curse with dancing naked at midnight in the moonlight when it is full moon?

I believe in hexed accounts, I can’t believe that after being a loyal patron of anet, I still haven’t found a precursor. (just kidding of course)
But I have been lucky in other aspects, so I guess I can’t really complain

Blast, I knew I missed something…was only a crescent moon :P

To the other suggestions of keeping a tally, since posting this, and continuing daily fractals (T4), still no ascended boxes; however, still like doing them and will continue to do so
