Dear Elementalists, fractal problem? Tune in!
Not to be rude, but wouldn’t it be more efficient to post how to dodge the agony moves? And honestly agony resist is the most useful at maw, saves you a revive orb or carrying a ranger to the end when you get high enough.

I think most people would prefer visuals! On top of that you’ll get to see how i utilize the staff too!
it’s a good initiative. and i strongly support it.
however. i have to partly agree with Arcthefallen, that a written explenation is probably the best to start with and then complement with visuals. the written don’t have to be so thorough because if they don’t understand they just watch the vid, just a brief explanation in text would do nice.
Played to 33 as a guardian with no agony resist, could have gone further but I gave up 0 agony.
Do you d/d at all or staff only?
I use d/d and only switch to staff when I’m forced to so it’d be nice to pick up some relevant tips.

It’s not a video that i linked, it’s actually a live stream that’s gonna start in less than a hour.

I have to say that’s pretty impressive, unless you played with just your staff!

D/D isn’t a bad choice but it’s not very optimal at higher level fractals!
GW2 did make an announcement regarding rebalancing weapons, I would love playing D/D again.

Wouldn’t it be no different than running 40 or 50 with max possible AR?

I suppose so, i personally haven’t reached level 40-50 fractal but you don’t survive anything at level 40+ regardless of how much agony resistence you have, you might aswell bulk up and practice dodging.

i did understand it was a livestream but i hope u save the video ? or i’m kinda new to that so idk.

Yes there is a VOD of the live stream (Video) You can check out my Twitch channel and it’ll be there.
Thanks for tuning in!
Arcane shield is very useful for preventing almost all agony attacks other than jade maw. Not sure if that was posted yet but thought I’d toss it up for anyone who wasn’t aware.
Also, mist forming and using ability 5 on the focus weapon while tuned to earth are great for preventing agony on yourself or avoiding the damage once it’s on you. (again this works for most bosses except maw). Ability 4 on focus while in earth can reflect some boss agony mechanics as well.
Not to mention dodging works well for most of the agony mechanics
Other things like swirling winds are useful for a smaller sample of boss agony… The bonus of swirling winds is it will protect your group as well.
I’ve made it to fotm 54 as an ele and interestingly the focus becomes much more supportive and survival-y than the staff (for me anyway). The staff is still useful on many encounters, but I find myself going scepter/focus more and more for the harder encounters with only a few exceptions.
