Successfully checked my name.
And noticed again, how desperately I want to change it.
but they are violating the few unrestricted rules we have :<
I wanna see the skip stuff Of course unrestricted is going to be boring if you show the worst PoV.
So what about this makes it unrestricted? seems pretty legit to me
Skipping Alphard/Abom doesn’t give you path completion reward when you kill Brie though :<
I wonder how many more guilds tags can fit in a thread title.
Give spoj some love!

Entertaining goating. I enjoyed it. Though I think they have a point if you don’t get final chest. Either way, that was cool
Yeah its fun to watch the goating. These records are cool but people are going to judge harshly. Which is why so many people seem to be against it.
Having all events done makes that less likely and makes things a lot more entertaining.

thx for even watching our pov
thx for not giving up spoj o/
so… is this getting approved?
Whats the full guildname of TCA?
The Carebear Armada?
The Carebear Armada i think
Approved.
Approved.
It’s not that I dis-approve the concept, but the path didn’t even get completed. In my opinion even for unrestricted the path completion should at least trigger in order for it to be a valid unrestricted record.
Yeah we need to review the unrestricted ruleset as well. It simply says the final boss needs to be killed.
Im guessing noone put any effort into that ruleset when the meeting was held.
I personally want all major bosses to be killed and the path complete to trigger as the minimum for the unrestricted rules.

The “major bosses” opens up a grey area though. While I think we all agree Kholar and Cave Troll aren’t major bosses, by what definition is that true? I’d say “every boss that must be killed in restricted must be killed in unrestricted.” But, yeah, rules aren’t set that way currently.
Thats what i meant. All intended bosses that show up as the next objective. Bosses like Korga and Kholer do show up but theres no doors or anything to suggest they are anything but optional.
I’m of opinion that unrestricted simply means fastest time from entering the dungeon to leaving it with no restrictions. If I can achieve that by skipping to the last boss and killing him in 2 sec, then let it be – that’s the whole point of “unrestricted”.

True, but at the very least dungeon completion should be required, no? I mean otherwise what’s the point?
Dungeon completion is achieved when you get the end reward. Or, at least that’s what I consider as ‘completing the dungeon’.

Aye, exactly, and in this case it didn’t happen. I’d say unrestricted rules of “start upon first movement” and end “upon final cutscene” would work just fine. I think it’d be more interesting having to defeat more bosses, but realistically, that’s not a speed run, speed runs are about completing the objective (completion of content) as fast as you can(without cheating using 3rd party programs). So even having to defeat bosses falls into that area of making rules for no reason other than “to make the situation more interesting” which is the purpose of restricted runs.

Yes but you don’t get the end reward when you kill Brie without killing Alphard/Abom/Belka,

I can kill all of them without getting path reward, too. :/
For me, unrestricted should just be “start timer when the first person moves in the dungeon” -> “end timer when final boss killed/reward chest given.”
This is more in line with regular speedruns (IE not Guild Wars 2) where the mindset is anything goes as long as you beat it asap.
All consumables and tricks should be allowed. Even gemstore items and things you can’t acquire anymore.
Having more restrictions than that… well, that’s why restricted exists.
Speedruns usually aim to break the game, not restrict themselves.
EX : Ocarina of Time Any% WR is under 18 minutes now.

In that Ocarina of time WR, the game recognises itself as completed. In this case after you kill Belka no cutscene or reward triggers and the path is not completed. Infact, selecting a path is entirely irrelevant and you can do this without picking a path.

I did say “reward chest given”… so, no a run without the reward chest (“aka ending triggers”) doesn’t count.
The only problem with having unrestricted completely unrestricted is that it means some paths become really boring and over exploited. And restricted is far too restricted. Id personally like 3 different rulesets to give a middle ground option. But we would be splitting things too much if we did that. So i know thats not really an option.
This is kind of why i push for restricted to allow certain exploits like jumping over walls. Because i think unrestricted should remain true to its name.
