Just as the title says … is it possible for precursors to drop in dungeons off mobs? or basically you have to farm lvl 80 pve zones or mystic forge them?

Really stupid if they don’t have a chance to drop in dungeons.

Im not 100% sure but i am -pretty- sure precursors drop as:

If you get a level 80 exotic drop – it can be a precursor (the account bound stuff dont count in fractals. you can still get normal exotics which can be precursors.) So basicly any mob you kill and any chest you open that can give loot.

I believe they only drop from high-end chests as in Temple of -Insert God Here- and also from the Mystic Forge as of now.

I’ve run lots of dungeons but never seen one drop. I think I’ve seen one drop off a mob in Orr

there’s a screenshot somewhere of someone getting spark out of an AC chest, so yes but its just as low of a chance as everywhere else.

Many people never seen one drop. With 1100 hours played ive seen one – which was from the lost shore event chest. Question is how many 80 exotics you have seen anyway Drew?

There are screenshots that ive seen from: Mystic forge – random mob in orr – event chest in orr – boss chest in a dungeon – jumping puzzle chest in WvW. So i’m quiet confident when i say if it can drop an exotic..it can drop a precursor.

Someone was saying TA dropped the colossus, but i didn’t see any screenshots or anything.
Edit: asked a friend about it and he told me he was with someone who got the colossus doing CoF. So i’m going to guess that all chests(or certain ones) have a chance of dropping a(any) precursor.

I’ve never had an exotic drop for me even when wearing all mf gear and using food. As far as I’m concerned precursors only come from the mystic toilet ( I call it that because you put good things in and usually get crap out) but I swear this guy in Orr said one dropped from a mob for him but who knows.

Yes they do, any mob that can drop an 80 exotic can drop a precursor.

I know someone who got dusk from the first boss fight in fractal of colossus. I’ve heard of people getting precursors from normal mobs in explorable dungeons.

I’ve had exotics drop for me from regular mobs in Orr, had Axiquiotl drop just yesterday…so I’m confident precursors are possible. However, I’ve never had an item drop, not even a white, from a champion, not since before the Lost Shores weekend. I’ve participated in at least 6 champions in Orr and many more during Lost Shores and no drops, so I think they still have some work to do on the drop mechanism.

My friend had the legendary hammer precursor drop for her from an AC chest.
