To keep this short, I’ll get to the point.
I want to maximize my efficiency running AC exp and CoF exp. I notice that my AC weapons glow while I’m in those dungeons. AC weapons only glow at night. I’d like to put a universally efficient Sigil on one weapon, Superior Sigil of the Night, but I am not sure if the damage would be equal to having two individual weapons, one for AC with Ghost Slaying and another for CoF for Flame Legion Slaying.
Thoughts?

Are you positive? That seems more like just making an assumption. I could go underground right now but it would still be daytime.
I’m assuming that nighttime/daytime is based off of server time.
I’ve decided to test something out.
According to the wiki, the time cycle is possible the following:
“Currently, the cycle lasts 2 hours with 80 minutes of day and 40 minutes of night, but this is subject to change before release.”
With that said, I am currently sitting in AC Exp with my sword out. I’m keeping an eye on it for the next 2 hours. But even if it glows blue the entire time, it is still not a definitive answer. If a dungeon was mapped as perma-night, does the Sigil of the Night still work?
I know in a past update, they made AC weapons glow in underground situations as well. I believe they did this because people were sad that they weren’t able to experience the glow of the weapons, but no one can say for certain. I have no idea whether this affects Sigil of the Night or not, all I know is that certain dungeons will always have AC weapons glowing all of the time.

Awesome, thanks for this info. I’m going to test this next to confirm.
Pick a weapon without attack bonus sigils, go into AC, attack the first breeder with autoattack and write down your average damage (separating non-critical hits from critical hits).
Put the sigil on the weapon, re-enter AC and write down the new value.
If the damage is the same it is day (or the sigil is bugged).
If you do more damage, redo it every 30 minutes for a couple of times to be sure it doesn’t switch to day. If you do it without exiting the dungeon it’s better.
Anyway I presume it’s always night in some dungeon (like AC)

Different dungeons have different set times that do not progress with the normal day/night cycle. So they will always be a specific time no matter what.
Some are day, and some are night.
Does each different Fractal get treated as a different time of day in a similar manner? So, for instance, the Solid Ocean Fractal would be night due to there being stars out, the Cliffside fractal would be day, and the Underground Facility fractal would be night due to the underground nature of the area? Is there any way you could confirm which dungeons/fractals are which time of day (day/night) so that we can document it on the wiki?

The fractals currently are in a day cycle, although I see the potential to change it so that the times get properly reflected. If I manage to find time for it, I’ll try to get a fix in for it.
As for explaining which are which for dungeons, I’ll leave that to the community to do.
Yes, yes, ever the community’s job to answer questions about the game as the developer looks at the code with all the answers and cackles.

ANet always prefers somethings to be left for research by players. And some players love figuring that stuff out and posting it on the wiki. So, he “could have,” but I’m glad he chose to leave it up to us.

Walk into each dungeon with a weapon from AC. It’ll be figured out real quick, since the AC weapons only glow at night.

UPDATE: I added day for day fractals, and night for night fractals. The time will not change when you are in a fractal, but certain fractals will be day time or night time.
