I don’t know why people are being attacked for just sharing that they completed something.

I think its alright if ppl use the range or kite method. They at least tried.

But I think ppl who are not used to idea of meleeing the boss should at least give it a shot. Even if unsuccessful, the party can still transit to the range or kite method. The reverse however is not that viable.

She didn’t imply in her post that the way her group did it was the best or most efficient way. She was sharing what her team used to succesfully take down the boss. If her group decided they wanted to do it this slower way, because it felt safer to them, that seems ok. She even said she’d liked to try other strats in the future. The snide remark assuming she would be opposed to your suggestion of how she could do it different was, in my mind, unnecessary. I get that there is a history here and forum regulars are sick to death of this topic, but it seemed a bit harsh.

I’m not attacking Miaire at all, I’m saying that if her party were actually willing to pay attention and not just shut their brain off they could have done it faster.

And I don’t know about you, but I will never promote people playing bearbow-esque playstyles (if you can even call press 1 then leave game to get food a playstyle) because it’s just lazy and drags the team down.

Because they’re sharing that they completed it in the wrong way, and you know exactly what I mean by that.

Jumping around for joy and spreading the news because you 1200 ranged a boss doesn’t help the rest of the pug community get any better. This could have been a teaching moment, but instead people are coming out saying “nah don’t worry guys, our old crap-kitten pug tactics still work.”

It’s like those episodes of House where it really looked like House was about to learn something about friendship and human nature, but in the end it just turned out he was faking it the whole time.

There is a difference between promoting and condoning. While I’ll never tell people that playing Longbow Warrior/Ranger is a good idea, if they enjoy playing it I won’t abuse them, as long as they don’t claim that it’s far better than it is.

They tried out a tactic that they read about, and they pulled it off. Well done to them. Now that they’ve seen how they can complete it, the option is there to try do it faster in the future.

Honestly, they didn’t come here claiming it was a super pro way to do it. They didn’t say “haha in your face elitists, we can do this ranged ezpz”. No. They shared that they tried out a tactic that they read somewhere, and it worked for them. This kind of attitude is exactly what we SHOULD be encouraging. The mentality to read about tactics, and to try them out. If they succeed, well done. Next time they can change what they think was unnecessary and do it faster. If they fail, they get to reflect on why it went wrong, and hopefully go back and improve.

I usually try to be pretty impartial towards things, but some days I just feel like abusing people. Today is not one of those days.

I don’t know what an elitist guild is defined as.

A guild where the average player skill level is better than your average PUG.

I call those elite guilds, usually the only people that use “elitist” are bads angry that you asked them to use a certain skill. No offense Chef!

12 minutes, but we were all naked (including trinkets) and didn’t coordinate our caltrops.

That’s pretty amazing.

Can I ask for a detailed description of your rotations? Why the spiders didn’t aggro? And how the tree didn’t shake all over you?

They were perma stealthed. Seemed pretty self explanatory to me. Using condition damage and not directly hitting the tree shouldnt kick you out of stealth.
