Dredge fractal impossible without dps
It would probably rely on having a 100% lava uptime, since it refreshes with every pour. You have to move fast and precisely between the 4 lava sites, because if you miss one pour, it can ruin your progress. Eventally the suit should die.
Well, it’s a very hard task when he keeps going after the person who is pouring lava, despite the fact that he isn’t even hitting him… It shouldn’t be this hard on lv 3.
It isn’t, your tactics just need work.
The highest toughness person should not be running lava
The person running lava shouldn’t be hitting the boss
Why are you running 5 “tanks”?
Keep doing it, you have to practice. If the superheated debuff ever drops, you can’t interrupt his heal. Never stop moving, that’s the key, the second lava drops on his head you should be moving for the next bucket.
Well, this was a pug, so we didn’t have much of a choice – it’s hard enough to find a low level fractals group to be searching for specific professions (I lurked on gw2lfg for about an hour until I found one).
The person running lava wasn’t hitting the boss, but he kept going after him – climbing the stairs and so on, making it impossible to do a consistent smooth sequence.
When this happens, what you should do is call out for a swap in roles. Have one of the people who hasn’t been pulling aggro swap to bucket duty.
As far as finding low level groups, when you go on gw2lfg.com, check a range of people between 1 and 9. Remember that so long as the level of the fractal is equal to or higher than your personal progress level, you will advance in rank.
Like most fractals and dungeons. It’s all about dps. Attrition will get you sooner or later. It’s sad, but most of the time; if you don’t kill it fast enough, it will get you.
OK, thanks for advice all, I think our main downfall was not being able to interrupt his heal, we probably should have focused on that more, because when he wasn’t running up the stairs we kept lava on him almost 100 % of the time and still couldn’t do enough damage to counter his heal.
And yeah, I know I can enter higher level fractals, but I don’t want to go for lv 10 straight away, without completing the lower ones and then ruin experience for others, because I’m not sure what I’m doing.
There is very little difference between a 1 and a 9. At 10 things change up a bit. I think you would be fine joining teams up to that point.
I failed multiple times on this when I started fractals and raged on the forums in a similar thread.
The condescending replies were in fact correct – I just wasn’t doing it right.
It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. One person (preferably someone who is quick on their feet and doesn’t have much ranged DPS) does levers up top and doesn’t touch the boss (so that the boss doesn’t aggro onto him).
The other four range-kite him clockwise, from lava pot to lava pot, kiting or immobilizing him under the pour spot until the pour. Have at least two of the four pulling him equip an interrupt if he tries to self-heal. Dodge circles when they pop up. If someone dies, have someone that doesn’t have boss aggro break off and rez the person while the others continue to kite the boss.
Remember that he needs to be under the effect of lava in order to take significant damage. If you don’t miss too many lava pours or wipe, eventually you’ll wear him down, regardless of how low your DPS is.
It’s a little trickier if it’s the ice boss, due to the adds getting in the way, but once you get the hang of it, it’s actually kind of a fun boss encounter.
