Dungeon Acquirement
This is surely a good idea that everyone will love. (sarcasm)
Who needs privacy anyway?
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

Privacy achievements are solved in a turn on, turn off button…
The idea is still solved..
No thank you. This is almost as bad as want to be able to inspect peoples gear. All it does is create isolation and trolling. The good effects of it are not outweighed by the bad that comes with it.
I don’t need to be bullied online, got enough of that in real life thank you much.

Not really, since people would simply refuse to take people that did not have them visible.

AP do not make for a good measure stick. sigh That’s not why they were put into the game, stop trying to use them as such.
I’ve done dungeons with several people where it was their first time, they didn’t have very many AP for an assortment of reasons, and they did just fine. Sheesh.
Just because someone has 20k AP doesn’t mean they are good necessarily, or that they have done the specific dungeon path in question, or they could just be having an off day and look like they really suck when typically they don’t.
Beyond that, just because someone has done a path doesn’t mean they remember it (I’ve done AC a handful of times, I never remember all of it), or maybe it’s been changed since they did it last because they took a break.
What you’re suggesting, OP, won’t solve the issue. In fact, it may only make things worse by further enforcing discrimination of specific types of players.

You are being bullied over the achievement points, that are not showing the truth.
They are not representing dungeon skills, and people will not let you join their party if you have low achievement.
So my idea is still better for you.

Yes really, of coruse they will not take in party the guy who have turned off achievements… But that guy asked for privacy, and that solves his problem… You can have privacy.

People need skill discrimination. They are discriminating with achievement points.
Its better to discriminate with real skill.
Your problem is solved if they add date for last completed path.

I have well over any amount of “required” AP for anything. No one would ever question my ability to ru na dungeon when using AP as the basis.
Fact is, however I make my own LFGs that take anyone of level appropriateness into my dungeon runs because I don’t take the approach that new people are inherently bad. We all had to learn.
People like me are teachers we help foster the Dungeon Community because that is what I do in this game (Fractals and Dungeons is 90% of my game time). I don’t want to see it become an elitist community so I take steps to prevent that. I would never want to isolate someone from doing something new. I want as many people as possible doing dungeons. The more they get run the more the data stacks up and maybe, just maybe ANet will some day add new dungeons for us all to enjoy.
And no, no it would NOT help anything to let someone see my achievements other than invade my privacy. I think its bad enough that anyone can see my AP as just a number inside the game. AP is not a determining factor to someone being very good.
In fact on my second account that was purchased and made not long ago, I have just under 2k AP, no one who doesn’t know me already would never know that I have another account with almost 4k hours and many many dungeon runs under my belt. I’ve been questioned before about my abilities on that account, and so I just left the party. I do not now, nor have I ever felt the need to “prove” myself for a dungeon run.
But, I have played many an MMO where the “inspect” function is a thing and I’ve seen first hand how much the negative attitude it fosters far out weighs not having to take someones word on something.

Which basically creates the same issue with elitism that people want to avoid.

I see two faults with this.
People can just buy a path to complete the achievement, undermining the system.
The reason for the system seems to be that people doing something for the first time should be excluded.

What’s the problem with gear inspection? Either you lied to get into the pug (and deserve to be kicked) or you have the gear they listed in the LFG and it will be fine.

That’s not what I am talking about and you know it. Its not about lying or having it. Its about having to “prove your mettle.” Its elitist, exclusionary, and isolating. It’s also intimidating to some. I have a problem with this behavior and I don’t like it. Especially in a game like there where really you can roll up with any gear (even greens) and do generally fine in a dungeon run.
As I already stated I don’t join groups that ask for certain gears unless I am just to tired to teach and even then I tend to shy away from anything asking for something specific out of principle.

No thanks. it’s bad enough people even demand a specific number of AP for dungeon parties, don’t want people demanding a specific exact set of achievements.

To be fair you can get it without ever doing the dungeon and you can ping stuff without owning them.

I usually just give my lfg an unfriendly description only kittenbag elitists would join. ^^ Works 90% of the time. People that ask for AP are often clueless themselves.

This is true. The funny part is that if you do a lot of PvP, you can get the Ascended dungeon accessory far, FAR quicker than by running the actual dungeon.

Hi
I am one of those “scumbag elitists“ and even I won’t give +1 for this.
If you are able to talk/write in the chat I have no problems with doing a dungeon with you. If I do more with you depends on how well you did before + if the run won’t take 2 years!
