Dungeon Finder
www.gw2lfg.com is a pretty good resource.
It’s my hope that something like that is just added into the game (that’s the easy fix).
Yeah I took a look at that site, but the problem is it does not have an open for server. So the people who post for groups on that site, I have no idea what server they are in or anything.
Dungeons are cross server, you can group with anyone from any server.
Oh, I did not know that lol.
Yea, servers only matter for WvW
How does that work for dungeons like CoF, that can be blocked. What if their server has the dungeon unlocked, and my server does not?

I don’t know, but you do have the option of guesting to their server if it does not give you the auto port in option by arriving in the zone (once they’re already in the dungeon).
When a person zones a dungeon, everyone in their party that is on the same map regardless of what server they are in, will get a popup for zoning.
So I read they will never add a dungeon finder per say, just make improvements on how to find dungeon parties.. whatever that means.
Anyone else have trouble finding groups. In my case in particular.. I still have to do half the dungeons in story mode. No one in the area ever seems to be running dungeons let alone story.
I want to complete them and see what happens, but I am left just sitting there spamming LFG for hours with no response..
Extremely difficult to find groups.
You have to wait for hours spamming Lion’s Arch to try to get a group. Same if you are in the zone where the dungeon is located.

gw2lfg.com
I want to qualify that statement:
extremely difficult to find good or even remotely successfull groups.
I used gw2lfg.com only for finding fractal grps and before last patch, any highlvl fractal grp I found there was at least good enough to finish one fractal.
Since patch I couldnt find a single grp being able to finish one fractal lvl30+.
So I wouldnt really say gw2lfg.com is the answer to everything

Why haven’t you added people from those successful groups to your contact list? If a group fares well, chances are those people aren’t bad and you could play with them again.
Because until last patch I actually enjoyed playing with new people every day

And now you have to “enjoy” it even more ;p
But I still don’t get what Dungeon Finder could do to solve this problem. You’re gonna play with bads anyway.
i’m almost exclusively playing -mostly fractals- in (new) PuGs i find on gw2lfg.com every day, and have been doing so, ever since the fractals came out. i can count the amount of slow/failing groups i’ve been in during the last two months on one hand.
guess i’m just extremely lucky, then. oh, i’m on EU and i mostly play during the night.. no idea if that matters.

When this scenario is concerned, the group only has to be in the map, then either of the group with the dungeon open needs to go in, and all get the popup to enter 2.

Well you dont have to WAIT for up to half an hour for the privilege of playing with bads and u dont have to keep hitting the refresh button for gw2lfg and alt tabbing hoping that u are fast enuff to get in in lf2m and lf1m groups.

I honestly doubt they would ever create fully automated dungeon finder.
It takes longer to find a group, than the dungeon itself. Today, I tried for four hours to find a group for Arah p4. At the end, we still needed three more people.
Just give us a cross-world chat channel, one for NA and another for EU. So long as people can communicate with everyone else interested in running dungeons, they can take it from there.
Being restricted to /m in the game to put together a dungeon group (especially for Story mode runs), will never cut it.
I don’t do dungeons because getting a group together is more difficult than running the dungeon (I’ve completed only 2 story modes despite being a “raider” in WoW (vanilla/BC) and Rift). I’m not going to use a website to find a group. I’m astounded that ArenaNet hasn’t already solved this problem. They don’t need to add a WoW-like dungeon finder, but there needs to be some sort of in-game tool.
People who say dungeon finders destroy games are confusing correlation with causation. Dungeon finders don’t destroy games, they expose flaws already existing in games.

There was a reply from a dev stating they ARE working on one and it will be in game ASAP.

Note that the title on that thread said “Group Finder”, which is a much more broader term than “Dungeon Finder”. Group Finder could encompass a wider set of options to develop groups for content outside of dungeons as well, such as for “Group Events” which involve a large group of people to take on Champion and Legendary ranked monsters in the open world.
However, if Robert really intended Group Finder and Dungeon Finder to be synonymous with each other, then I suppose it’s a step forward towards “getting with the times.”

In gw there were outposts you ported to in order to start a mission. Everyone else at the outpost was usually looking for a group as well. So it was usually easy to find a team. I was thinking why not do something similar in GW2. Have like some instanced dungeon location/outpost where everyone from diff servers can gather to look for a group. I don’t know how difficult it would be to create this in the current game… seemed to work well in gw.

I think this might be a more “interactive” solution. Compared to a system that automatically places you into a group of like-minded individuals, you get placed in a staging area in which you still need to do some sort of social interaction with other people. This could work like the staging area for sPvP content, which is Heart of the Mists.
I suppose it could work, but then if the staging areas are restrictive to that specific dungeon of interest, then it wouldn’t benefit those who want to run any dungeon at random. That’s where everything falls back to the “unofficially accepted staging area for everything”— Lion’s Arch! Perhaps specializing staging areas could have a place in this game, but if a Dungeon/Group Finder is implemented, would these staging areas still see some use?

Considering Anet already has an in-game browser (the TP is entirely browser-based) they could just make something like a mini GW2lfg you can access in-game.

It was in the dungeon sub forum, so I believe it was aimed at dungeon groups. Look a little bit more

That is true— almost always, anything that Robert posts on the forums is generally dungeon-related. So the feature in question could very well be, and intended specifically as, a “Dungeon Finder” commonly found in more newer MMOs.

i really hope they include a dungeon finder tool like rift and warcraft has. there really is no reason to not include something so convenient for casual gamers such as myself. sometimes i just want to dungeon crawl with 4 other people, and it’s very difficult to build a group manually. just my two cents. if you don’t budge with the idea, it’s ok. you guys put out an amazing software and it’s probably my favorite game since zelda ii.
There is no reason they didn’t added in the first place, i came here from different games with any multiplayer features and this is unacceptable, or hilariously stupid. not comparing but wow, rift, neverwinter just to name some obviously have implemented it easy, how dumb and lame was that decision.. as well off topic but the lack of mounts… please.
I just get to level 30 and is the worst news i get that there is no group finder in this game and despite how much i like i don’t have the time to lose looking for groups but a lot of awesome and hassle free games waiting in my library so how does it supposed to play more and spend more in the game with such a silly developers and their decisions not talking about the awful customer support.

They said they finished working on one and they like but they need to do more tests and such, they also said we’ll be seeing it at the end of 2013, so I’m guessing october, give or take a month
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over

It does matter what server they’re on..as long as your both from the same world. NA with NA and Euro with Euro. I played arah with no one else from my server.
There is a larger problem here that everyone typically ignores, including ANet: Why are we using GW2LFG.com? Why are we going to an external non-ANet, non-NCSoft site to find groups for the dungeons instead of using an interface built into the game?
Someone is missing out on something here, and it’s all on the dev’s side. This whole concept of using an external site screams that someone is asleep at the wheel. There’s demand for an LFG tool in-game, so why would anyone say that we’ll never get one. There’s a demand, they know there’s a demand, and yet they won’t fill it? “Oh, no. Someone else is already doing our jobs better. Why would we ever care?”
Dropping the ball here, ANet.
fans hate Joffrey. They hate her the way Star Wars
fans hate Jar Jar Binks.”-not a direct quote, but still true.

I totally agree. As it is right now, there are a lot of beautiful dungeons in gw, but it’s frustrating how hard it can be to find a group.
I feel like the game is flawed, when you have to use a site, to find groups.
Players like me, are missing out on dungeons, because groups are too hard to find.
A Dungeon finder feature, would even work much better, than in World of Warcraft, because we don’t have the holy trinity…
I hope A.Net will open up their eyes some day, and realize the demand.

It may already be too late for that
IMO.
This is the definition of taking steps backwards. Arena Net and anyone willing to defend their lack of a system to group people together. I get the complaints about communities, but there are ways to fix this. FFXIV did this by doing server specific Party Finder option. Let’s you fill a roll for a specific task of any kind, questing, grinding, etc. For Arena Net to do NOTHING, is complete stubbornness and ignorance.
That’s the definition of a necro post.
lol wat?
There’s been an LFG in game for a few months now, calm yourself. It even has options for open world, dungeons, personal story, pvp, etc.
His post history consists of just two posts, seems there were more but they were deleted. A little out of date, aren’t you, pal?
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Necro’s are OP, nerf please.
Anywho, now that they have the LFG tool out, they still gotta fix that merge bug…
