Okay first off I am going to state what I think are the pro’s and con’s of the nerf. I know not everyone will agree with my statement(s) however I ask that we all be civil here. Moving on.

Starting with the Con’s to the nerf the ones that I feel as a member of an active PvE guild. The first is obviously less income, since most PvE players make their money from dungeons. Granted it isn’t hard to make money in this game but everything you may want to buy is expensive so it takes a long time to get anything. Secondly, it becomes harder for guilds like mine to recruit new players since there is less interest in PvE content. Finally, it feels like Anet is saying, “Look, if you want rewarding PvE content, go buy HoT.”

On the flip side, the Zerk Meta needs to change, and the Zerk Meta is deeply rooted in dungeon content. In order to re-align the meta to a more healthy in game meta it was obvious to anyone who put any thought into it that dungeons would either need to be revamped (which costs actual resources they don’t just pull what they need off a money tree) or they needed nerfed to make the newer content more appealing. Also, most people don’t run them for the content but for the rewards, most of the player base cannot say that they enjoy the mechanics in most paths when the ones with the best mechanics are the least played (Aetherpath). The exception to this are the players who solo, duo, trio, etc. the content. This means that if they can get the money elsewhere why play something they don’t really enjoy in the first place. Those that like the dungeons will still run them anyway.

To wrap up, yes I am upset over this nerf. However, I think the nerf was something the game needed in order for it to progress. truth be told, I always prefered the story modes anyway since the bosses have better mechanics and most trash mobs are unskipable/unstackable they feel more like dungeons. If they buffed the story mode rewards I wouldn’t care if they got rid of the explorable modes all together.

Nah i just think they are nerfing it because they want people to buy xpac. More ways to earn gold in xpax, not so much in core game.

This does go back to what I said that some people, myself included, think is a Con. That is if you want rewarding content go buy HoT. I have already pre-purchased so it is no skin of my nose but there are players who haven’t bought it yet like F2P players. F2P players aside, those who have payed for the base game but haven’t bought HoT yet still need the income.

That aside if there are indeed new ways to earn money faster in the new content that is not timegated like raids, and is more interactive then SW then I will be happy. Just need something to do between my daily fractal/teq (new WB’s may make him irrelevant lol) and the weekly raids.

You can play fractals without having the need to buy the expansion.
