Dungeon Rewards - Should They Include Karma?
Karma is related to a public event. Is a dungeon an event maybe?
I haven’t seen anywhere where karma is stated to be strictly a public event reward. Dungeons are obviously a group event if that is all you were hinting at and have many events within them that mirror existing Dynamic Events and Heart Events. I am merely asking if there is a specific reason that dungeons do not reward karma in any way.
Ya know, my gut reaction was to agree that they should. However, after thinking about it for a minute I think that it’s a good thing that they don’t. Making them award karma would mean that you could get everything just by running dungeons. It makes sense to limit what can be acquired by running dungeons because it encourages players to continue participating in the world.
There actually is karma in dungeons, but it’s extremely rare. Basically, we were promised dynamic events in different routes of explorable dungeons. For some reason that didn’t really pan out, but the sole exception I’ve run into is explorable Honour of the Waves, where three random dragon totems show up to give you karma and xp and money basically for free. I’d be happy with karma just for beating dungeons, but more of these would be great too.
I’d also like an answer from Robert or ANet on this one, if possible.
I think that 300-350 Karma points reward should be given on the end of each dungeon, as if it was any other event. Those who think, that Karma is purely for public events – isn’t dungeon sort of public event? You meet up random people who were also looking for group, and you do the dungeon, together with them The fact, that it’s limited to 5 players should actually improve the karma reward rather than result in removing it compeltely. What’s the point in zerging events, when you do close to nothing effort and get your full reward? What about all the events I did all by myself, when nobody else was around? I didn’t have any impact on any other player, yet I received Karma as if there were other players playing with me.
We are saving Tyria from some serious evil with each dungeon’s explorable path, Karma seems to be quite good way to make us feel like we are doing something good there
I can’t find any logical reason to keep Karma reward away from dungeon lovers, and I really hope that Karma will be added as dungeon reward anytime soon.

They could always tie karma to story mode of a dungeon.
I would really love to see Karma in dungeons. I’m not a big fan of grinding event chains just for karma or WvW. Dungeons are what I love most in this game and spend majority of time doing. I feel that in order to get the legendary I’d have to spend days grinding something I don’t want to do instead of doing what I love.
I’d suggest a similar method to giving tokens. Have a set amount of karma for each path (depending on dungeon level). For each first path of the day you get more karma and repeating the same paths you get a lot less.
Just make sure the karma is more than one events worth because you can easily get a couple of thousand karma from doing event chains in the time it takes for you to do most dungeon paths. Maybe for Arah have 4000 karma for first completion, 2000 for subsequent? I don’t know you get my idea :P

Why should it not give some karma?, maybe 1 k karma nothing serious but still rewarding :P
Brought this up on another thread, should merge it together. Let your voice be heard guys! Dungeons should reward karma, some of us dont want to zerg in pve or wvw we like the strategic team play dungeons give, we should be rewarded with karma also.
To the guy that said we could only do dungeons and get everything if we got karma, we could... But it would actually be much slower than farming DEs where you get gold and items so fast with the horde of mobs they spawn.
Level 80 for over 3 weeks here and still sitting at 60k karma since i got to 80
Retired Until Expansion or Meaningful Content is Released.
i’d be fine with them giving Karma as a first run bonus for SM and all EM paths.
Yes. Karma in dungeons please. Seems stupid not to
Running event farming circuits in Orr can be quite monotonous after awhile, and since I love doing dungeons, it would be great if dungeons could award some after completion. Around 25k seems reasonable, maybe more for Arah and harder paths.

As topic says… Has ArenaNet stated why dungeons do not give karma? I’ve looked a bit, but didn’t see any mention of it.
I mention this because zerg farming karma just makes my mind go numb. I enjoy doing dungeons and would enjoy them much more if karma was included in the reward. My thoughts would be that each boss/event in the dungeon would give karma just like real world events. With this mechanic, they could be subject to the same diminishing returns as the rest of the dungeon (100%, 50%, 25%, etc…assuming that is even working correctly)
Thoughts or source to Anet’s reasoning on this would be great! Thanks.
If I’m correct there are different paths to gearing up:
1) Dungeons
2) Karma
3) PvP
4) Crafting
5) Exploration (albeit I’m not sure you could totally gear up this way given random chance)
It seems that ANet doesn’t want to overlap these (i.e. no double dipping). This would also explain why dungeon drops are almost non-existent (no farming crafting mats).
give karma on story mode, tokens on explorable mode.
everyone’s happy, and story modes get encouraged.
