Hi, i was just playing a bit for fun today and was doing Arah P1, P2, P3 for fun. Some of you may now think i am a bit masochistic because the dungeon seems to be a pain for a lot of people. For me the challenge of beating a tough dungeon is what i like.

I had nice runs in the afternoon and it alltogether took like 5 hours. It was not the fastest run but it was quite nice. In the meanwhile my GF was doing her daily dragons. I am happy for her that she got 11 yellow and one exotic item. While i was occasionally looking at her screen she was chatting and waiting most of the time. The usual dragon fight was around 2-3 minutes.

I would like to see a comparable reward output for dungeons also. To be honest dungeons are much harder that meeting 30 other people on a map, waiting for 15 minutes, activating autoattack and looting after 3 minutes.

The reward system does not respect the difficulty of an encounter. For a dungon you first have to get a group together, help motivation the people after wiping several times, repair costs typical people who just want to boss others around, etc.

What i wanted to state is 30 minutes attacking dragons gets you 6-7 times more reward than fighting through 3 dungeons, managing peoples frustration levels and dealing with difficult boss mechanics.

What is the purpose of doing a dungeon then?
Shouldn’t be the reward at least reasonably similar regarding the time spent and the difficulty?

One boss in dungeons is at least as tough as one of those dragons. why don’t they drop one yellow item each. And other difficult bosses… why don’t they drop an exotic. or let mobs drop more lodestones, etc.

TLDR: Dungeon rewards just suck, better chat and autoattack for gold.

i can barely stand the current world bosses… they’re horribly boring; i find dungeons more fun
3 dungeon paths =
~200 tokens
- 200/30 = 6+ rares
- OR exo (gloves/boots/helm)
27s at end
10+s from most bosses
chance at loot/lodestone/core from each chest

seems pretty balanced to me

No, this isn’t balanced, you rarely get cores from the chests, maybe if your lucky you’ll get 1, if you run CoF all day you might get a lodestone but they aren’t worth anything, and the blues and greens you get aren’t worth squat either, but the manditory rare for auto attacking a dragon for 2-3 mins is, not to mention the chance at a precursor.

Yes, this is totally balanced. LMAO… I won’t even go into how unbalanced fractal loot is, 40+ fractal loot is garbage. whoever does the dungeon programming in this game should be tied to the back of a truck and dragged down a gravel road…

why is CoF farming so popular? because its very profitable
why are molten lodestones (and especially cores) worth crap all? because people spam cof like crazy, compare this to TA or CoE which both have expensive lodestones; thus are nice drops to augment earnings
precursors drop anywhere
low chance at exo from dragon chests too (the only thing that makes it worth it is the guaranteed rare+)
blues/greens drop from dragon chests too?

dragon farming is for people who like their RNG and mindlessly auto attacking, dungeon farming is for those who like guaranteed rewards (a definite amount of rares/an exo with a specific prefix/straight up gold)

You do realize you get a chance at a precursor virtually anywhere ? I got two precursor drop in fractals. I don’t think there is anything special about the dragon chest.
First time I got Zap in ascalon, second time, Venom (yeah, pretty underwhelming precursor.. but as worthless as that one is it’s still a precursor so I got lucky with RNG itself) on the Ice elemental boss in dredge.

I do think though that the usual drops in fractal 40+ are terrible considering the time spent. But “chance at a precursor” isn’t something restricted to dragon chests.
Still it’s true that 3 minutes to get a rare is a better deal than 1+ hour of nothing.

I have to say a couple things about the thread though.. First of all, lulwut, 5 hours?

Second off, I’ve been getting a lot better RNG in Arah the last couple of days. Just yesterday, I did path 2 and 3 on my warrior, guardian and mesmer, and then I did another path 3 on my warrior and I got at least 1 rare every run, some runs 2 or 3 and for some reason it was raining Vile Essences as well… I think I got like 12 of those…

See, something like that, but a tiny bit better and a chance of some dungeon/path/boss (lupi) specific skin, and we’re on the right track. Imagine if every boss chest in path 4 had the chance of dropping a weapon that was specific to the gods. Balthazar’s Greatsword, Melandru’s Long/shortbow, Lyssa’s Staff/wand, Dwayna’s shield/Mace, Grenth’s sword/dagger, people would actually bother running that path. And you could tie in another design-a-weapon contest as well…

Oh, and DON’T MAKE THEM ACCOUNT BOUND for the love of the five true gods and that useless kitten I will never worship. It’s the idea of a worthwhile skin that is worth money that makes people want to do stuff. Not a worthwhile skin that is account bound, outside of maybe the Fractal skins…

Yes I know that a precursor can drop anywhere, I have been in 7 fractal runs where precursors have dropped and I have put in over 2500 hrs into this kitten game and I have never seen one myself, I have run probably over 3000 fractals and done countless meta events among other things. I know people that have gotten 4 precursors in 1 week, that does not seem right to me. Some people like myself have worked my kitten off to buy my precursor where others get multiples in 1 day, kinda lame on Anets part imo, and then they take the only decent and challenging thing in the game and make it harder and harder and dumb down the drop’s so that the people that like to do it don’t really want to do it anymore, then they don’t even say anything about it, it’s like we don’t exist, that’s what really pizzes me off.
