This is a odd accusation — check out the stickied posts to find examples of people happy to teach how to run these paths (solo or in a group). Occasionally I’ve purchased dungeon runs (not for DM — I got that with PUGs and guildies — but for tokens when I’m lazy). The folks I’ve seen selling have been quite willing to give pointers and advice if you’re trying to learn the same.

Most people buying aren’t — at the time that they’re buying the run — interested in practicing solo or duo runs. And many of the people selling also occasionally run with PUGs, given them a chance to learn.

I was pretty surprised that the instance owner flag didn’t just pass to the next member of the party, by chronological order. Having no owner was bound to be an issue when you can vote people out of the instance.

I like that they started with a hands-off policy, but there does need to be more logging for reporting.

There would be no difference to what is live, then.

You could ALWAYS kick people out with two votes, it’s just if the instance owner was kicked you lost the instance.

I can officially join the Solo’d Arah and kicked by a duo of kittens club.

Oh, the two who kicked me were pretty open about it as well. Since we ended up in the same megaserver after I was kicked, they began to circle around me while using the /laugh feature. Which leads me to believe they have done this countless times and no action has been taken against them. I really hope Anet isn’t simply jesting at the notion they permaban for this.

I honestly don’t get why usernames need to be concealed from the public. They all deserve to go on a naughty list that all GW users can see so they can avoided at all costs. More importantly, save people from the same unfortunate outcome of having solo’d a dungeon and having it stolen from them.

I support this so much. Everyone should be forced to carry out the consequences of one’s actions. Thing is … even if you know that a given person will overtake your instance there’s not much you can do – blocking him/her won’t ban him from joining your party.

That’s true, although it is another feature Anet should implement. If you blocked someone, it means you want nothing to do with them…Why should they be able to join a group you created? It’s one thing if you both join some one elses group, but when it’s your own?

But this is nothing more than a wishful rambling. Anet is so hushhush about who they ban, it’s hard to say if they’ve even banned anyone for such actions. Let alone have a solution that will stop the incidents from happening at all.

This is terribly sad to read. Well… we do know one way to force action. Take pictures, upload them here, bet the devs they won’t do anything, and force them to publically rebut your post.

Now I truly see why so many have left the game and the forums – Ivan, Iris, etc. I have proof and my harassers have admitted it on the forums, and NOTHING happens to them.

I don’t really care about running dungeons much, much less buy or sell, but this is truly pathetic that a minority (2/5) can possibly ruin a party. And it’s pathetic that people would grief others just to steal a dozen or two gold (really, gold is so easy, why are you going around cheating people for it? Are they really that poor/lazy to increase virtual bean counters to get more pixels?). It’s also pathetic people would even take enjoyment in seeing others get griefed just because they participate in an activity they disagree with (but Anet says it’s okay).

Greedy, envious. pitiful behavior. Griefing has no place in this game and Anet has been too lenient regarding this in many areas of the game.

Raethe, I’d be happy to have that list, send it to me, please.

I’d also be happy if we can upload such a list on a place where it won’t break the rules of naming people in public so everyone can have access to it.

That is a commonly requested feature that PHIW want that will stop the berserker’s. They dont really consider the challenges that they will face.

That was the biggest change/improvement thing I wanted with fractals but the only thing people cared about was the reward system.. =/

Yep, it did get deleted, I dunno why though, it is a bug that has been there since beta and is due to windows being closed upon cutscene triggering… A kick vote being coutned as a window afaik…

Scammed for the first time today.

It seems the amount of scammers stealing paths has skyrocketed since feature patch.

I really hope anet takes this seriously and adds an option for leader. Reporting after the fact for no guarantee that anything will happen and a guarantee that you won’t get paid is in all ways inferior to keeping people from scamming you in the first place.

Even if we report scammers every time, the amount of them will make selling impossible. When selling is impossible the decent PvE players will quit.

It’s an untenable situation, and even if every report leads to a ban, without a preventative mechanic it’s not enough.

Reading all the scamming issues makes me sad. It doesn’t really help that Anet’s stance is “we have invisible GMs there, trust us we really really do have”, who are doing obviously equally invisible things to solve the problem. Using block list is just sad reminder how people, who steal your paths are logging in every day as nothing has ever happened.

One thing sadder than current situation is Anet’s most likely solution for the issue.

A fix would be quite simple:

Dungeonowner leaves = Dungeon stays open for the rest.
Dungeonowner gets kicked = Everyone else is getting kicked as well.

It still doesn’t prevent griefers from making your day miserable, but at least they wouldn’t benefit from it anymore.

I would like to confirm that Anet doesn’t do kitten about dungeon stealers. I have sent a ticket about a scammer who stole my dungeon two times now (yes, he did it twice, same person +his friend) and there have been others who told me he did the same to them. He’s not banned, he hasn’t even been suspended. He still goes around stealing dungeons on a daily basis.

The only form of Vigilante I can come up with is posting his name in the LFG tool and warning people about his kitten dungeon scamming ways. The more people that know of him, the more of an outcast he will become. It’s all I can do; since Anet does nothing.

Likely anet wont bother doing anything as it is dungeon run related. Anet stated clearly that dungeon runners are on their own and that should the event of a kicker or griefer happen they would likely not do anything.

In short they wont verse a single tear if you get your solo paid dungeon stolen so you better darn know who your inviting or just stop doing it at all.

today i also joined the club, doubly so. lost 2 runs in a row. really anet.

they will fix it once they have finished the entire living story, cos…you know…living story is all that matters.

they dont care about keeping their playerbase happy if it means “groan doing something useful…..its so much easier to just say we are doing something, then leave it for months on end with no notice, why cant people just accept that and play the game?”

Like idk, a gem store item you can buy for 10 gems that allows you to lock a party you create with you as a leader. It would function exactly as how it was in the past, just now you have to pay 10 gems for it.

What counts as targeted harassment? It seems like people who join parties specifically to destroy the instance of someone selling the run are targeting the seller for harassment.

Someone that kicked the openers of at least 5 dungeons in the past 24 hours with no apparent reason, as example, would qualify to be banned in my opinnion. I hope Anet see them that way.

I kinda understand their move, though, it’s imposible for them to know if someone was kicked because it was playing poorly, giving players a bad experience, dying all the time or wiping the group, etc. However to check how many players a certain individual kicked in the past hours could probably be easy to check if there’s reports about that same player, so it’s encouraged to report kickers i guess.

I took a screenshot and reported back them for some guild team kicking me out of fractal after reaching Maw. Anet said they can do NOTHING about it…

The drama queens in this thread are hilarious. Chris stated ANET’s position on the issue…and it is clear from what he said, that this isn’t a high priority for them. I also cannot imagine that this is even a frequent issue for anyone other than sellers….who are putting the target on their own backs with their unsupported actions. This is an issue of party formation politics…just like he said. Pick your parties/group mates wisely. I pug 90% of the time and this never happens to me anymore. The reasons include being highly selective in the LFG groups that I will join/stay in, making sure my performance in groups is up to par, not running off at the mouth in said groups, and not putting a bull’s eye on my back by trying to sell something that doesn’t actually cost anything.

I can, however, get behind what Jerus said about changing the auto join function to a request to join instead. That would be a win by all sides in this situation. I know people who want to hide will hate my next suggestion, but I would even go as far as to have the LFG do a role check calculation based on stat trends on the requester’s gear…too see if they fit what the party is actually looking for. Nothing too invasive…just maybe in indicator of the highest stat type. That way you don’t end up with a party full of healers when you are looking for some damage and vice versa.

ArenaNet will not do anything about this, it has been there stance since launch.
