Really.

It’s ridiculous that we have to replay the same content 23 times for a set of armor. Make that 30 runs if you want a weapon too. THIRTY.
At 30mins-3hrs+ per run, that’s 15-90+ hours of the same thing over and over.
Oh, and that’s before taking the decreasing rewards into account.

Anyone else have a problem with this, or am I alone?

The thing is that you don’t NEED the items from the dungeons. You just WANT them. Seeing as they are more or less only cosmetic.

People want something to work for. Simple as that.

3 ac exp runs with experienced friends 35-45min
cof p1/p2 runs with experienced friends ~30-40min (more if u need to do quests when contested)

P.S. don’t have any problems with repeating them over and over again. i ENJOY doing dungeons. farmed my commander badge @ ac, and yet to get bored of it.

Expensive? dungeon is best if you want to get a set of exotic armor in no time and don’t have money. example for AC (path 1- 3) it takes 1.2k token to get a whole set if you run 3 path everyday in 7 days you can get that amount. plus you get 40silver+ + loots per path(1gold + per day), after a week you have 7 gold to spare for runes or exp weapon of your choice.

Yeah dungeon armour is irritating to save-up for. Because you need ~1400 tokens from the same dungeon. To date, I made and spent 1660 tokens but that was from 4 different dungeons. So I only bought weapons with the tokens.

For armour, I bought the Durmand Priory set and am now crafting the Draconic set and transmuting the exotic stats on to the Durmand Priory look. I like the Durmand Priory look more then I do any of the dungeon sets. Which BTW, is why I didn’t even bother trying to save for a dungeon set. The motivation just wasn’t there.

I think if you really, really want a specific look from one of the dungeons. You’ll put in the effort. If you hook-up with other people also saving for armour from that dungeon, you’ll find that runs are short and smooth because they all know the drill and it becomes fairly routine after awhile.

But if you don’t have the motivation, just do dungeons on a “for fun” basis and treat the tokens as secondary.

My brain is shagging under the weight of changes… having six characters was not a good idea!

LOL you will have to run 23 times the same instance with the certain that you will get the set you want at the end of it, while in other games I have runned around 100 times the same instance and didn’t get what I wanted(Aion for example).

You get 60 tokens per path, per day from dungeons with 3-4 paths that take as little as 25 minues to complete, which is EXTREMELY generous, and you still think it takes too long? Did you expect to get one piece of armor per dungeon run?

You actually have to “work” for cosmetic gear, cry about it.

I sort of agree and disagree on this.
First I disagree with it for popular and easy dungeons like COF or AC. They can be done very easily, and fast, and you get 60 tokens per path. If you do two paths a day, then you get a full set should take you just under two weeks.
That is not too bad for exotic armour, and weapons.

However this is where I also agree. Some dungeons are just horrible to do, they take a long time and are unpopular and some servers. A example of this would be CM.
I hate that place, I am not allow, most I know do not like doing it and just about every thing in that dungeon seems designed to annoy people. So this is a dungeon I want some armour from, however I really am not looking forward to farming it.

So maybe while they take their time updating dungeons, they could lower the token requirement for unpopular dungeons? This might encourage people to do some which feel like a real grind.

I agree with the fact that running the same dungeon over and over and over again does get a bit boring. Theres literally no incentive to run anything else if your stuck farming a certain dungeon. I would love a universal token that you could use for whatever reward you wanted to use it for rather than being backed into a farming corner with the same dungeon. Or at the very least a way to convert one token to another perhaps with some sort of slight loss

CM is NOT a hard dungeon. Very few, if any, PuG will touch CoF path 3. I have seen many PuGs happily do all three paths of CM back to back! The list of popular and “easy” (all paths are not created equal afterall) dungeons are: AC, CM, TA and CoF. Groups for these are easy to get and are generally successful.

Don’t get me wrong. I hate doing CM on my Guardian. But my Asura Engineer managed to get 540 tokens from CM just with pugs and she also netted me 4/4 paths for the achievement. In the meantime my Guardian is still looking for path 3 CoF and forward-up and forward-foward for TA.

Edit: Based on another thread, it occurred to me that dungeon popularity might be server subjective. CM not being hard is true of all servers but CM is probably more popular on my server then in some other servers. A very good reason to have a cross-server dungeon LFG system IMO.

AC set only need 1200 token for a full set and it only takes 1h-2h a day to run the 3 paths

I actually agree with the OP. I don’t like to repeat the same dungeon night after night. And then, there are dungeons with a crappy looking armor set, so I feel I should be running Arah instead of those… except… nobody wants to run arah because no way it takes less than 1,5 hours….

Yeah, in LOTRO most guilds ran a fight (The Watcher) hundreds of times they couldn’t even beat :P, then 2 people would get 1 piece. Plus you needed a specific set to even enter as well as the correct team, all on vent. RaTs and everything to even stand a chance. Then they nerfed him, because people cried..

30 runs for a full set is nothing.

That is not Accurate at all, short bows are still 390 the same as long bows Why?

I agree with the OP these rewards need to be raised, for the work you must do in the dungeons, plus it is work and its far from fun.

quoted for truth, this has been my life for the last like two weeks. leveling chars in AC gets you XP, gold, and tokens for armor when they’re 80. but for real his math is perfect, if you spend like an hour and a half a day it takes a week man. maybe two weeks-a month if you’re playing VERY sporadically. if you’re serious about dungeon running join a guild for it, that hour and a half for three paths is really only possible reliably outside of PUGs.

but yeah the dungeon armor is for serious players only. i wouldn’t say hardcore (cough, legendaries, cough), but there are going to be a lot of players who paid for this game who are never going to own real dungeon armor… because they don’t need it. if you think you NEED a specific stat combination, you’re either running dungeons enough to think it warrants the added efficiency or your playing high-end Wv3. you’re a serious player who will be in it for awhile. you shouldn’t think even a month is a ridiculous amount of time working for a mid-tier achievement, let alone the week or two it really takes. some of us like long term goals, which means putting some of them out of more casual player’s reach. you can farm orr fairly consistently, it shouldn’t take much longer to craft or purchase a comparable exotic set.

Tokens are just fine. You get geared quite fast. Not to mention crafted gear. If anything needs to be changed, it is the drop rate of rare stuff from mobs, maybe rare skins from bosses.

Last time I run Arah, it took us 2,5 hours (plus half an hour trying to find a group, and that with the server full of people). We didn’t even wipe that often (only once in Lupicus, for example), but the dungeon is insanely long.

Running Arah 3 times a day means playing for 7,5 hours. I think 2,5 hours a run (or 2, or 1,5) only allow for one run a day, which means doing Arah for 28 days till you get the full set. Now, playing 2 hours a day, for a full month, not being able to do anything else if you want to complete your set sooner than never, doesn’t seem like a reasonable task. At least, not for a game that prides in departing from the traditional mmo formula of running the same dungeon every single night.

Got so many tokens I had to make an alt character and deck it out with bags to hold them all. They arent the problem. The problem is the money from dungeons -_-, I make more in Cursed shore for same amount of time, really only exception is AC (since it can be done extremely fast and it has 2 × 5 silver from champ mobs. finish run= 26 + 16 boss loot + your 10 from extra champ mobs.) and possibly CoF. Btw if you are spending 2 and a half hours per run of Arah I dont know what to say.. I just… I’m so sorry you go through that…Must be pugging. Most paths take 45 mins to an hour. Path 3 is the fastest, you can get that done in 25 to 35 mins. I did all 4 paths a day for my set with some guildies, didnt take so long, and well it is supposed to be the hardest dungeon, that set is supposed to be prestigious, the skin is supposed to impress people or something according to devs. If you want a quick exotic set, just get AC set, it’s got some good stats on it too.. hell it’s ugly but you can skin over it with something nice.

While I’d like to see mob drops and chest drops buffed, so that I might stand a chance of actual getting something beyond vendor items, I do not agree that dungeon token items are too “expensive.” 5-6 runs for a chest-piece seems about right.

Dungeons are (part of) the PvE endgame in GW2. Getting a full set of tier gear in the typical MMO might take more than a month of dedicated raiding, a much more time-consuming activity than GW2 dungeon runs.

Why wouldn’t shortbows cost the same as longbows?, they’re both 2h range weapons.
And if you dont think its fun, then dont do it.
Since all exotic gear is the same, you dont have to do dungeons for it.

30 dungeon runs at 30 minutes each to get a full set of the best gear possible. Sounds like easy mode to me. You get a new piece of gear every 2 hours, that’s awesome!

Compare this game to it’s predecessors and you will have a point of reference to understand just how easy GW2 has made it.
