Dungeon runners.. will you buy expansion?
I’ll be buying it, if only for the specializations and new class. Should make things more interesting for a while, even if we’re still stuck with only the same stale dungeons.
Yes.
Yes. I need the new heavy armor class since they are 1 nerf away from removing the warrior class anyways. :P
If there are no new dungeons or fractals and no raid-like content, I will not be wasting my money.
It’ll be $25-50 most likely, I see no reason for me not to get it. The issue has always been that ANet doesn’t give me enough reason to pay them more! But, for what we know is coming I have no problem getting it even if it ends up sucking.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a player who JUST did dungeons and fractals. Although I’m assuming the new magguma jungle will be like SW on cocaine and for those doing SW for the ffirst time it’s quite exciting.
Additionally, this whole new specialization update could very well turn the meta on its head and if there’s one thing we know about hardcore dungeoneers is that they will pay anything for the slightest bit of increase in efficiency which is really what dungeoning is about after the first few time you do it.

Only if revenant turns out to be strong and fun to play I think.
5 revenants new Meta.

of course I am going to get it. My main gets a greatsword!

Definately, new legendaries, guildhall, etc.
If there are dungeons/fractals then yes. If not, then it would be a hard choice. I’d probably get a lot of buyer’s remorse if I went forward with the expansion w/o any dungeon content. Mayyybe … at that point it would depend on price. $25 max probably.
If there is no new dungeons, no new fractals and no raid, then I’ll be disappointed, but dungeon is not the only things that I do in this game so i’ll still buy the expansion for the new maps, mastery, new profession, specialization and PvP.
Of course I’ll buy it! #HoTIsHot
Depends of if they release SAB permanently. Otherwise, will probably wait to when they do.
Waiting for more previews/videos before making any decision Oo
TIL $50 is a lot of money to people.

Definitely. When I was working two part time jobs as a full time student, that would have been considered a major investment to me.
Like, “do I buy this, or eat this week?” sort of thing :P
This game has a lot of students that play it, I suspect that many are in a similar situation.
Unless you are planning on leaving the game for good you should pick it up. There is absolutely no chance that an expansion comes out and dungeons and fractals are not touched. Plus, you haven’t paid a monthly sub for the game for however long you have played. The value of this game is off the charts.

Agree with this.

This makes me laugh It’s completely possible that they’ve stopped working on small group instanced content — we already know that they’ve pulled their teams off of dungeon development since the Aetherflop, and they said in an interview some months ago that they had no existing plans for future dungeons. I won’t expect it until they say something. From an earlier thread:
I think it makes sense for them to add dungeons with HoT. I also thought it would make sense for them to put out more than one path and a few recycled FotM shards in two years. Hence my cynicism: Contrary to their famous statement, unless they explicitly confirm something, everything is off the table.
My guess? We’ll see new world bosses in HoT, and before/around the HoT release we’ll see some of the LS bosses added to FotM. No new themed multipath dungeon systems. Based on the gamescon interview and the rather conspicuous lack of details at the HoT unveiling, I think this fits what they’ve been saying best.
I honestly believe that if they were going to put in a new dungeon with HoT, they would have included it with the “major” features during the announcement.
God I hope I’m proven wrong.

I was a poor student once too. But I was also a grinder who figured out ways to make money and get things done. I really think most people are simply poor at budgeting. $50 for a game that will give 1000s of hours of content is too expensive but a handle of Titos for the same $50 is OK every weekend.

It is. Not everyone have a steady income after all.
Heck for $50 I could easily get food for almost a week.

$50 for liquor? kitten . I usually just went for a handle of Setters or High Ten for $10 — Still do, gotta love the taste of kittenty bourbon xD I think the only non-essential purchase I made during that time over $50 was my trusty HP 50g <3
Of course, in those days, I didn’t really game much. If I’d have gotten into MMOs while trying to carry everything else, I probably would have flunked out or gone insane or something shrugs
Anyway, I’ll stop rambling about the old days. To answer the question, yeah, I’ll be getting it, dungeons or no. Even if there’s not any content I’m really all that interested in, that’s where everyone I play with will be.
Plus, new classes / specializations sound fantastic.
I’ll pick it up without a doubt, because a new class and new specializations are just what the doctor ordered. Also, I have (probably too much) faith in ANet that they’ll pull through on their heavily-emphasized promise of ultimately challenging content in GW2 with this expansion. Whatever form that takes, I know I want to be a part of it.
I plan to finish Uni w/o any debt whatsoever, and other than scholarships/aid I’m handling the tuition all on my own. So every purchase is a major decision.
Because of dungeons in GW2, this game has been a great return on what was spent on it. If the expansions dont’ have dungeons, it will not be worth as much. It is as simple as that.
50 dollars for liquor? Just go to local doc and ask for a sample pack of ambien. and stay awake… well try as long as possible.
Yes buying. why? Meh at this point. Meh

It’s insane how they keep emphasizing it. In every interview, regardless if its on topic of the question asked, they bring it up. :p
I rly wonder what it’ll be.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!

Yeah. They seem VERY confident that it’ll be the “ultimate challenge”. Here’s to hoping those people they hired earned their keep and this content lives up to their promise.

Almost 100% chance it’s Marionette/Tequatl-like open world zerg content and not smaller team-based dungeon-type content.
No. Maybe if others classify the extension as great, but otherwise no.
