Dungeon sizes (literally)
Cathedral and Citadel aren’t located in the same place. And during the Searing, most of the Catacombs collapsed, thus the excavation teams.
But the dungeons in GW2 do feel smaller than in GW1 visually and they are actually incredibly smaller (except maybe Arah). Then again, in EotN, most dungeons were reskins of each other, you really could get lost in them and there were hundreds of monsters in those multi level dungeons.
its very true and the reason not a single gw2 dungeon feels epic or gets old after a couple of runs

ah nice to know, but as nuka said im referring to the scale and size of old dungeons and the epic feel to it.
I think according to lore these are comparable, correct me if I’m wrong) – gw2 sorrow’s embrace and gw1 sorrow’s furnace. Sorrow’s furnace is a lot larger.
sidenote: dungeons in gw2 are really really really really really linear
Actually Sorrow’s Furnace was quite small, another thing to keep in mind is that it has been rebuilt and is no longer the headquarters of the dwarves but rather the Dredge.

Making them bigger would only result in complaining about more mobs & chokepoints everyone feels they have to “run past”. …yeah maybe if we fought a lot more big groups of normal mobs in these, running past would both be more difficult (more snaring) and less common in general b/c more kills = more Drop rolls for stuff you actually WANT.
but i digress….
