I was wondering if anyone knew why it is not possible to do dungeons accross EU and NA servers. And whether these is any chance this will at some point change.

Would make sense, but I somehow doubt this is the case or WvW would be permenantly disabled.

Sorry, I don’t get this WvW comment. The WvW pool of servers is only from your region, so for NA servers they will only play against NA servers. So Tarnished Coast will never see Piken Square in a WvW battle.

sorry Husky, perhaps the joke was not clear. What I meant so say if that if the reason you can’t do cross EU -NA dungeons was that it would be laggy for the players in such an instance, then by the same logic (to avoid lag), WvW should be permenantly disabled given how bad the lag is. The original question is irrelevant to WvW, it is only about dungeons.

Supposedly it’s to do with our characters data being held in two separate data centres and due to the inherent latency in the networks the gaming experience would be compromised if they were allowed to cross over.

Therefore Anet have decreed, that to protect us from bad lag they won’t allow cross region anything.

However, there are some logic issues with this reason:
1. If latency cross region was so bad, how come players are allowed to play on different regions than their own
2. How come we’re allowed to transfer servers cross region?
3. Many players, play cross region without their experience being adversely affected.
4. Isn’t it down to the individual to decide what is acceptable and what is not?

There have been many suggestions as to how to resolve the issue. Including separating your WvW server choice from the pve server you play on, thus allowing you to transfer wherever for free (like we could in early launch) while keeping the restrictions for WvW in place.

Yet Gw1 pvp AND pve were international.

Seafarer’s Rest EU – PvE/WvW – 8 × 80 chars.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

The lag on NA isn’t actually as bad as I thought it would be so I think it’s a real shame NA and EU players can’t do dungeons with each other.

EU servers are kind of located in texas too… you just send information to servers in francfurt that send it to texas, in gw1 you sent information to texas directly.

Measuring my ping to their servers in fractfurt gave me the result of 14ms…
To gw1 American servers directly gave me 150ms.
To gw2 Texas servers 850ms. Great.
