Seriously, this is really getting the better of me!!
We do 1 run of cof, exit, and all 5 DIFFERENT players from ALL different servers are contested.. so the party leaves and no path 2 run happens..

If i want to run a dungeon, i should be able to run that dungeon whenever i feel like it.
What gives, what is the reasoning behind dungeons allways being contested?

Anet, please, seriuosly think about abolishing the event required to enter the dungeons.
Ive fought the COF event so many times, i know it of by heart, its not fun or enjoyable anymore to do, its just plain aggravating….

This annoys me, people like you.

This is why open world events will never be truly great.

Because if their IS a negative to losing a event, then people cry about it.

So events instead of becoming better, they be nerf until they have no change on the world whats so ever.

Then do the event.

Events are created for us to “do” them. Unfortunately for you, (us), most players are too focused on FoTM now, rarely anyone does normal PvE content/event.

This is why open world events will never be truly great.

Because if their IS a negative to losing a event, then people cry about it.

So events instead of becoming better, they be nerf until they have no change on the world whats so ever.

I got no problems with events, i do more then enough on all my characters.
Im talking about 1 event to get into a dungeon . 1 event per map that doesnt need to happen.

No other mmo in the last 10 years i can name that i played had these " events " that needed to be completed before running a dungeon.

Some days i have hours to play, the events dont bother me 1 bit, other days ive only got maybe 1 hour, so spending 20 minutes doing an event to run a dungeon is meaningless, i may aswell not run it.

Dont you understand?
I want to run dungeons. i love running dungeons. i dont want to do events to actually get to do what i want to do.

As a side note, completing the event is just a matter of minutes, and it will give you money, karma and experience. I think that is fact is usually “ignored” because people just got used to the Gold medal on the top right corner…

Also, if you are grouping in Lion’s Arch, you will see everything contested because you are in an overflow server. If you walk to any of the maps outside Lion’s arch, you will go back to your server, and then you will be able to see the real Waypoints. The one for CoF shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes to be uncontested.

It’s because people are lazy kitten. The defense event was ongoing on my server (which is FULL pretty much 24/7) I solo’d one side, the side furthest from the dungeon. And we still failed because only my friend was there to defend the side closest to the dungeon (the one that spawns the champion)

We go back to the (now contested) waypoint only to find at least 20 kittening people standing there scratching their balls wondering why they cant get through the rocks in the way.

25 steps to the west. That’s all we needed from any of those players up there but they wouldnt do it.

Funny i know it will seem odd, but i tend to make more cash from doing that event starting with Sancia not just Rantard (he is a kitten the Raider. All those resource bags that drop is crazy sauce. Once i had over 56 bags from one event sequence.

While others avoid it and complain i just feel like it is part of doing the dungeon, and i feel cheated if i don’t get to do it prior to going into CoF.

Of course i am one that likes to kill all the mobs along the way, i hate running through the Bridge in path1. I dunno maybe i am a glutton for punishment ?

My favorite part about the bridge event is when your the only one fighting the champion but there are 10 people staring at the closed gate….

You can say they are afk all you want but the moment that gate opens everyone mysteriously disappears…

Last night we had a group of 5 guildies, we were at CoF and ran path 1 just fine. We exit to start the next path and the dungeon goes contested. We head down the bridge to do the event (which is in progress already) and there are only 2-3 other people there trying to do it. Now here is what gets me, there are at least 10-12 other players sitting at the dungeon entrance trying to put groups together instead of helping with the event. We asked for help twice and no one even cared. Needless to say the event failed because there was only 2½ minutes left when we came out of the dungeon. Once it failed a few of the people that were waiting outside the dungeon asked why was it still contested. Really?

The events leading up to the dungeons are a great part of this game, you get a lot of drops and XP.

If you are going to sit outside a contested dungeon, help with the event so everyone can enjoy it.

i agree with most of what you said, events in the zones are fun, dungeons are fun, but ‘winning’ events to ‘unlock’ dungeons is just a poor design. its more of a useless time sink (hardly rewarded for doing so).

but to respond to your ‘no other mmo in the last 10 years…’ part, (sigh, gonna have to say it) WoW, wintergrasp and tol barad (both pvp zones) alliance vs horde, whoever wins, gets control of the raid dungeon to play

Well, i quit wow when it sold out. I gave it a chance thru wrath, but blizz failed me.
So yea soz, i didnt know about wows instanced thing. But im actually talking about real mmo’s that do the event thing, not the abomination wow turned out to be, a fairyland for kids.

I think the problem is how long the dungeons remain uncontested. I don’t mind doing the events to uncontest the dungeon, but it’s annoying to have to uncontest a dungeon again after doing one path. When a dungeon is uncontested, it should remain so long enough to complete all three paths without speed running.
