Dungeons and Elitism
There seems to be a very largely held sentiment that the dungeon community is full of elitist jerks, and are generally toxic and just awful. But lately I have been drawn more and more towards dungeons than any other game mode because i have found it to be the exact opposite of that. In fact, all the toxicity and rudeness that I have encountered in game has been in PvP and WvW. There is a very large amount of people in both those game modes that are just terrible and downright unhelpful.
I have very seldom found a dungeon or fractal group that was toxic, they have nearly all been very helpful and willing to explain any strategies or builds that I am unfamiliar with. Whereas, often people in WvW will /laugh over your corps when they kill you, or if you ask them questions about their build they will respond in a rude an unhelpful manner. I wont even get into PvP cause i think we are all too familiar with how bad that community can be.
So in short, keep up the good work Dungeon people, you lovely weirdos.

Awwww.

Where do I put my pitchfork? After reading the title I expected the worst!
On topic: Yeah I had the same experience as you. As long as you are able to read the lfg and ask if something is not clear (unseen tactic or something) most are super nice. And if you look through the forum here every genuine question on some mechanic gets answered really fast and in a polite manner.

Now if only ArenaNet would stop driving us away…sigh.
It’s pretty easy to spot the filthy elitists based on how they make their LFG post But yeah, the noisier ones are giving us a bad reputation.
Pitchforks unite!!

Yeah, it’s pretty easy to avoid the few elitists, their LFG posts are pretty obvious, and always few and far between. The vast majority of LFG groups and pugs are pretty friendly people.
Dang it my Torch, I better put it down since this is a positive post. Yes most of the dungeon runners are nice people. I stay clear from the super elitist you see there dumb AP requirements LOL. whoever taught that was a good way to measure skill is in need of some help.
Master all paths of dungeons and take some of you guildies through it. Be that guy that the guild will always be asking for help. Makes you feel fuzzy inside like a Charr. XD
In my experience, there are rotten apples in every game mode. However, through appropriate use of the lfg-feature, they are more easily avoided in dungeons compared to pvp or wvw.

Personally, I find this a rather odd requirement to single out as elitism. Obviously, just like any kind of requirement, it depends on how it is being used in a given context. But you can for example quite easily tell a complete beginner from a veteran player through it. This can potentially be helpful when you form a PUG.
On the other hand, I find requirements such as “class xy, meta-build” far more questionable. Copying a build from a wiki and buying gear off the TP doesn’t measure your skill with dungeon content either. The degree this limits participation is what I would consider a much better example of being a “super-elitist”, as you called it.
But I guess where one draws the line is entirely subjective
