How did dungeons end up the way they are? I am nearing level 80 on my first character and have done all the dungeons available to me, and every time it is the exact same thing.

Rush-rush-rush-rush-rush, exploit-exploit-exploit.

Now sure, I know the vast majority of players have done all of this content, and I’m sure it’s repetitive to run dungeons over and over trying to farm for dungeon gear and whatnot. Speed running is nothing new, but the extent to how it is done in GW2 is just baffling.

So many cheese mechanics exist where you can stand on a rock, or behind a wall, and take down a boss without taking any damage at all. How did design flaws like this stay in the game past beta testing, and why haven’t they been patched out? These exploits are so mainstream that there is absolutely no way Anet does not know about them.

Do the developers not see anything wrong with an entire party using these cheese tactics to ignore boss mechanics and sometimes entire boss fights altogether?

Maybe edit your title a tad because the actual post have little do to with it. Also this is an old topic, unless you have something very specific you want to bring forward, I would say check out older posts.

I’ve tried looking for similar posts, but everything seems so saturated that it’s hard to find a similar discussion.

Are you speaking of this after the recent patch? The patch notes claimed they had been fixed. I, for one, hated having fractal groups that wanted to cheese boss fights.

Because it minimizes the risks of encounter. Of course the consequence tied to it is that those who commonly practice that might lose their ability to perform well without using those tricks/exploits (if they ever had it in the first place).

And with the “No WP when in combat” update, I hope they fixed nearly every single exploit because if they didn’t, those exploits are going to become the norm for PuGs, driving the common PuG level in dungeons to a new low.

Nah, ran CM last night and still had people attacking through walls, and jumping on the rock to ignore the AoE bleed boss.

Dungeons may be boring for seasoned players, but kitten is it boring for the new players now too.

Did CM this morning that was the same. I stayed just to see how many exploits they were going to use.

1. Were able to have Traffa destroy the basement objects through the 1st story floor.
2. Ran by Sure-Shot (no biggie there, you don’t have to fight him in path 1).
3. Glitched the bomber guy in the barn by having the initiators of the fight hide under the stairs so he didn’t attack at all.
4. Climbed up the wall to bypass all the halls and fell through ceiling to fight Victoria (oh woe is them, the rock exploit didn’t work so they had to fight the boss straight!)
5. Went back and climbed the wall again to get to Frost. Stayed on a rock so frost couldn’t use his cone of cold gun. He was able to freeze someone every now and then which is why he didn’t go into invincible mode.

I didn’t bother taking any chests. I just accepted my tokens and quit.

I know people will say “It’s the path of least resistance”, but what it really is, is people who are bored of the game and instead of playing a different game, or doing something different, they ruin it and make it boring for everyone else.

Perhaps you could take your beating of this dead horse to one of the 17 other threads about skipping

You have gotten what you paid for, all that remains is biweekly gemshop pushing.

That’s why I won’t go near CM with a PuG.

I don’t mind skipping monsters, but CM…Easy and simple CM…why would you bother exploiting in this dungeon ? Anyone exploiting in CM deserve to go through a long and painful tutorial to teach them how to play the game.

I know people will say “It’s the path of least resistance”, but what it really is, is people who are bored of the game and instead of playing a different game, or doing something different, they ruin it and make it boring for everyone else.

But most of the time this isn’t the case. Generally you have 3 types of players :
-those that did it so many times and got better. They don’t bother exploiting because they know how easy it is.
-those that did it so many times and are still awful. They exploit because they can’t do it normally.
-those that do it very rarely. They exploit because they never learned how to do it normally.

And then you have threads and threads of players whining left and right about the difficulty of encounters and whatnot.

We used the mountain exploit in CM p3 once because the first time we did it was awful. And after this we thought “One sec, Anet wouldn’t do something stupidly impossible in a low level dungeon and this exploit will get fixed anyway”, so we learned.

I was really hoping this patch would get rid of all the obvious and common exploits.
