Dungeons are fun
There is nothing complex about them. They are dumbed down. Everyone fulfills the same role, and you just run around and spam your DPS…trying not to stand on the highlighted circles on the ground and dodging the one shot ability spam.
We don’t even have classes anymore, most of the time people can run through dungeons and not even say a word to each other. It’s understood there is going to be some random dying to one shotting and spam. And all you do is respawn and do it again.
Dungeons are very fun. All of them can be done by any 5 players with good gear who know how to play their class well. I invite the first 4 on my friends list and say what one do we want to start with and 3-4 dungeons later still no problems.

You pugging it? You shouldn’t be ‘counting on dying’ if you want your team to make any money from the run, and classes definitely don’t fulfill the same roles. Interrupts, vulnerability, aoe etc. is all done differently by each class…
There is a reason you can interrupt nearly any boss in the game given players coordinating their cycling.

There is also a reason there are plenty of boss skills that can’t be interrupted by any class as it would make them trivial.

All classes play the same. I made a mesmer got to 80, started a warrior….can’t be bothered to keep playing him. Whats the point? What can he do differently? Plays exactly the same. We lost the holy trinity…and fine all we got in return was bland and similar character classes.
I can run full support as a mesmer and I don’t offer krap. A barely noticeable regeneration, a stun or two on long CDs, a haste spell on a 210 sec cooldown with a 10 sec uptime. The only thing I had that was nice in dungeons on my mesmer was the anti missle wardens, but heck last CM run they got destroyed the second I plopped them down.
Exactly what endgame should be.
Dungeons shouldn’t just be endgame content.
I just ran the Lvl 40 dungeon as a level 60..fully geared in yellow vitality toughness gear and was ONE SHOTTED.
this was in story mode for crying out loud.
no way is that made for the level it “SAYS” it is for.
I wanted to run with some friends..looks like we have nothing to do together in this game anymore.
Not until you hit 80. Shame on you ANet.
Subjectivity. People need to learn it
I am glad you are having fun. What dungeons are you playing and which branches? I really, really want to enjoy them but I’ve encountered nothing promising so far. Just aggravation where an enjoyable challenge should be.

No one character is made to sustain massive amounts of damage. If you were one shotted it was because you were trying to fulfill a role that doesnt exist. You have to learn the mechanics of the game. not stack HP and hope you can live long enough to down something.
It’s ridiculous how many posts there are that are suggesting these dungeons are not fun.
They are complex, so complex that people are complaining ingame about how much gold they have to spend on repairs. They’re beatable, and conceivably beatable without dying but a couple slip ups will cost you your life. Exactly what endgame should be.
I see so many posts on the forums about dungeons not being fun. Bugs are one thing, ‘not fun’ is a totally different quality.
No need to reply, just wanted to vocalize the obvious so ArenaNet knows they’re not doing as bad a job as a browsing of countless threads would suggest.
Most of them are not endgame though. They are endgame when you hit 80 but not while you are leveling. I think anti fun comes from going to a dungeon while leveling to find it is made to be fun and challenging for those who are lvl 80 and running it.
Dungeons -are- fun. They are definitely worth doing. Each and every one of them. They are worth experiencing. The bosses are worth seeing. The encounters aren’t too interesting, but the new experience makes up for it.
And then you decide that you want to get a set of armor.
That fun and interesting dungeon needs to be done 50+ times. While doing content for content’s sake is understandable on paper, when you do something 50+ times, you want to do it for a reward. I might sound greedy by saying that farming a dungeon 50+ times purely for an armor set is not enough to keep me farming that dungeon, but it isn’t, for me.
The money and experience tipped the balance. 1/50’ish of the tokens I needed, 26 silver, and 180k experience? I’ll take that. And I have been.
Now that I’m almost finished, the system of diminishing returns was added, and my resolve to get the final piece of my set is floundering. I am five runs away, but I’m going to wait until tomorrow.
That might sound downright reasonable, but the problem is that people that want to play are thinking twice about playing. That’s not good.

this just means you haven’t discovered the evade button yet. use that, guarantees invincibility for an instant.

What happens to the 20 instants after that while your bar is recharging?

He said level 40 dungeon and he’s clearly talking about the golem in CM. It fires rockets with a delay between each rocket more than long enough to not have to worry about the recharge rate on that fight. If he still has the same complaint when he’s 80 and gotten a few exploreables under his belt then he just won’t enjoy this game period.
But thank you for proving my OP point, that the people who are complaining about the dungeons are just people who don’t yet ‘get the game’. Lelouch, if you are having trouble with fights, then i think you also need to keep in mind you can rally off the kill of any mob during a fight.
The only trouble I have is with CoF since I haven’t done any of the other dungeons since the update. Tried the usual Magg run which they seem to have made impossible. Midget runs into lava, dies, can’t resurrect him since the 4000+ damage the lava hits for is kind of more than the 600 we heal him for. You can’t even really control his path, since he decides to run at the closest enemy which keeps respawning.

Like with the 5 CM snipers. I see the red rings. 2 dodges, f3 aegis, retreat, uh-oh I got targeted by the 5th sniper, dead. I respawn and run back kill the 5 snipers eventually, get 6 broken lock-picks, and a white hammer. The chest drop is 2 blues, that are unusable by my profession… my repair cost is now 1-2s. My end reward ~1s & 3.8k exp.

Yep, hence why i mentioned in my original post that "bugs are one thing, ‘not fun’ is an entirely different quality’
