Dungeons are simply not fun... (For the average Joe)
I completely agree.
L2P!!!!!
On a more serious note… the dodge button is key. You are not supposed to be able to sit there and take hits.
Secondly its expected to go down. Make sure your party works together to get downed folks up fast. As a Guardian I specialize in making sure people stay alive.
Someone goes down I run over and use my “Retreat” shout that gives me and my ally aegis. Typically bosses don’t chain moves and regular mobs aren’t THAT scary. I start reviving and boom he’s up with a fresh aegis due to one of my traits. Fight keeps on going.
If for some reason one aegis isn’t enough I pop my F3 to burn my 40 sec passive aegis to give me and my allies another one. Again someone goes down bam they get back up and are fighting again.
And that’s just me. Other people also help with the revive and folks are up in seconds.
What dungeon are you having problem on?
Agreed. I’ve been in a lot of groups with some great people who don’t mind spending hours to nail down an intelligent strat. It doesn’t seem to help.
@alex try doing arah dungeon
If you’re being one-shotted as a Warrior, something is wrong. I don’t mean that in the condescending “You are doing this wrong” way – mathematically, it just should not be happening. In the absolute worst-case scenario – doing Ascalonian Catacombs at level 30, with gear at a level less than 30, using a Power/Precision Greatsword/Signet Crit-based DPS build, it should still take at least three or four hits from an Elite enemy to take you down.
Where are you playing, how big of a spread is there between your actual level and the level of your gear, and which enemies are one-shotting you?
could not agree more, guild wars 2 is losing me a little more every day only the UBER and people with tons of time on their hands to play non stop can adapt to them. and l2p? i heard someone say ha! how about the designers learn to design a dungeon that scales and has s ome synergy.
1 shot, dead, repair, and run back.
This game doesn’t have the % to block or anything like that – it’s built on actually moving to avoid enemy attacks.
I’ve never been “1 shotted” by any boss doing any real melee attack on me that didn’t have an animation.
There’s a learning curve. Recognize what bosses do – find ways to avoid the huge surge of damage those attacks do… [dodging mechanic] and avoid red circles.
You have to forget what you know about other MMOs and learn to play this one. It’s different, but different isn’t always bad.
This is exactly the problems with the dungeons in GW2 rigth now in my opinion, its not about if they to difficult or not well balance, the real problem is this dungeons are not ’’FUN’’. As soon I finish a path in the exp dungeon I don’t really feel the time spent on the dungeons are worth it.
I am sure to be told “Dungeons are fine” “Learn to play” “Go play Pandas”
I have been playing MMOs for a long time. I raided 4 nights a week in WoW and was one of the first people on my server to get the Mage Legendary Staff.
I do not mind a challenge, challenge is good. However getting smashed over and over by trash mobs. Spending the tiny bit of money I have on repairs, getting 1 shotted by mobs, and trying to re-spawn and run back before the boss resets IS NOT FUN
I have tried A full defense builds with Toughness/Vitality
Full Banner build, full shout build, hammer, mace, shield, and any other combination I could think to try.1 shot, dead, repair, and run back.
Sorry to rant and I am sure people are gonna flame me over it. I am the average person who plays this game after work and on my days off. I am in a guild full of people just like me and we are not having fun in dungeons.
Certainly the intent of the Devs was not to cater to a very tiny group of people on what is basically the end game?
Why don’t we try and solve the problem with brute force
so what dungeon was it?
