When the game first came out (pre-fractals, etc.) Dungeons were the endgame content.

You’d want exotic gear, but it was the early days (first few weeks of launch) so you’d do this “endgame” content and felt pretty good because it was working to craft (essentially) your endgame armor with sweet skins.

Now exotic armor is elsewhere, ascended armor exists making exotic lower-tier non-endgame, and the dungeon tokens are for – skins.

Ascended Armor

I’m just saying that it would be nice to have ascended versions of the armor available from the dungeon vendors. Put a sweet effect on top of the existing skins or leave it the same, jack the price up to 1,000 tokens a piece or something.

GW2 is striving to be “do whatever you want” so for those that want dungeons over and over.. it’s a way to get ascended.

Just one possibility to make this more relevant.

Legendary Armor

When it happens, it would be nice to include big dungeon token items in the crafting of these armor sets.. I assume sets like a ‘Legendary Armor Box’ because crafting legendary armor one piece at a time would lead to mix and match nonsense. Who knows tho.

I’m just trying to imagine dungeons more relevant leading into the future.

You are wrong. GW2 is very “do whatever you want” with the current ascended crafting system. Look at the stuff you need to craft ascended:
- dragonite ore – you get if from either guild missions, world bosses, some living story events, WvW
- emphyreal fragments – you get it from jumping puzzles, all dungeons, fractals, all open world chests including these after completing minidungeons, guild missions
- bloodstone dust – champion bags
- augur’s stone – you buy it for skillpoints and basically you get skillpoints from everywhere, even by just leveling.
- normal materials – again, you get it for salvaging everything, for collecting nodes, even in PVP you get a lot of crap that you can salvage
- obsidian shards – for karma or fractal relics, basically you get karma for everything you do in the game, because everything is an event.

Basically every piece that you need to craft ascended armor will land in your hands later or sooner, doesn’t matter what you do in the game as long as you don’t only chat in LA. You can still do for example only dungeons and guild missions and eventually get enought resources to make ascended stuff. But wait, you want ascended to cost only 1000 tokens? That’s not gonna happen, it would be too easy to get (only 3 times more than exotic weapon or chest?). Value of exotic items is around 1.5g while value of materials needed for, let’s say ascended light chest is 75g just for the damasks. It would have to cost 15000 tokens, not 1000 (but then it would be the same as it is now, just play the game and you will get it)

Well, right now Dungeon is not only for skin. Most people still use exotic for their Alts and Dungeon is one of the best way to get gold (and token are a good source of gold). But still, its true that i would like to see ascended armor/weapons from dungeon token.

I don’t think you can say oh exotic are 1.5G and ascended are 75G so it need to cost 15000 tokens. Because exotic lost a lot of its value in the recents months. Most people either already have all the exotic they need or they go for ascended. If you want to get 75G in the game, it could take about 10 hours (average, it could be between 30sec or 1 years depending on the person). In 10 hours of game you could get about 2000-3000 tokens. So i think it would be nice that each ascended pieces cost about that. 2500 token would be a nice number. Someone that do all 2 paths, everyday will have a piece each 12-13 days, which is not that bad. Its longer than with crafting thats for sure, since you will need to do dungeon for 78 days to get all the tokens for a complete armor. So everall, it would be better (money and time wise) to craft your ascended stuff (especially if you want to craft several of them), but casual will be able to get their armor on the long run without spend too much gold (its will just take time).

Don’t forget that you get gold for running dungeons. You have 2 possibilities to get materials for ascended now jsut from running dungeons:
- salvage loot
- buy mats for gold
On top of that you want to give ascended items for tokens, so someone doing dungeons (the best source of gold atm) will get bonus ascended items from time to time.

Personally I don’t want ascended to loose its value. They are not that hard to get for someone who is doing a lot of dungeons daily. Also giving additional ascended items for X dungeons would be an overkill for fractals, which can drop ascended boxes in exchange of providing less gold per time unit. Imo fractals should be the real endgame, together with worldbosses, guild missions and living world.
