After wasting the best part of 2 hours on fractal scale 20, everything going great until we hit the volcano level, the Legendary Imbued Shaman is pretty easy on lower scales, but now it is getting pretty stupid, which almost instant one shots, spawning 20+ elementals per shield phase and apparently a bug in which it can reset and fully heal.

The general FOTM loot scales has been nerfed so much in recent patches, so it got me thinking ~ the general state of dungeons right now in terms of time spent vs reward is actually on the low side. I know this is perhaps to combat speed farmers but what about regular players? We want the dungeons never to bug out on us period, and we want to be rewarded with our time and efforts. The game is entering a dangerous period, its been many months since launch now, alot of players have quit and the game needs to retain its population levels, its time to start making the remaining population happy.

For me, to keep me happy ~ I just want a bug free and non-frustrating dungeon experience – Fractals at higher scales are just about wall punching, no innovation just harder hitting mobs, more mobs. How about more innovation? Whats fractal scale 80+ going to be like? Every 2nd mob upgraded to champions? I shudder to think..

Are we talking about dungeons or fractals? You appear to be saying “i ran highlevel fractals with an inexperienced team and got beat down”, which sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

How much reward do you think would be fair for a 30-minute dungeon run? More than 1 gold? More than 2? I think CoF and AC already give 1g/run and CoF path 1 at the least can be done in 10-15 minutes with an experienced party.

Also I haven’t done FotM in days, but when I last did 20 the loot seemed fine – I got several rares and probably a core, as well as the standard relics + ring token + a bad ring.

Loot in fractals has been stealth nerfed, or running into DR. I’ve done many runs and noticed a significant drop in loot quality over the past few weeks, one time you could get anything up to 5 rares + a decent chance for exotics – these days, your lucky if you get 1 or 2.

As for our fractal team, it was actually a pretty experienced team – we got beat down by a bugs – which should never happen.

Chests aren’t affected by DR and they aren’t affected by magic find. I’ve done only maybe 5-10 runs in the last few weeks, but I haven’t noticed any changes at all. All my rares have been from chests. All my cores have been from chests. Using a magic find build on the trash mobs (grawl shamans, dredge), I’ve gotten a fair number of the heavy bags that are all I’ve ever gotten from them.

I’ve been a little unlucky with salvaging ectos out of those rares I got, but then, sometimes I salvage one and get 3, so I don’t know how the numbers work out for that.

What’s your sample size?

Been running fractals since Lost Shores event, that’s my sample size. When you run a dungeon enough times, you pick up on things, especially average loot drops. I’m not the only person to notice a drop off.

As for our fractal team, it was actually a pretty experienced team – we got beat down by a bugs – which should never happen.

the only thing I’ve noticed about Fractals regarding loot is that Exotics are account bound for some weird reason (probably to equalize the amount of money you can earn in a dungeon and fractal, to make it fair on those that dislike fractals, but love dungeons), however when it goes to rares I get more of those in fractals than in dungeons. Every run I get 1 to 4 rares. In a dungeon I get less rares, but a bigger chance to get cores, that can be sold anywhere from 20 silver to 1 gold 40 silver, depending on the type. Either way in a day, without grinding or wasting too much time on it I can make about 3 to 7 gold a day.
Maybe you’re just unlucky? Sometimes I get really unlucky days of all blues, but then on a different day it’s rare galore. After all all loot is chance based.

I’ve been running fractals since they came out too. I’ve done a full run maybe 50-100 times, total, and I haven’t noticed anything, so… I don’t know what to tell you.

“The chances went down over the last 5-10 times I did it, I’m sure, and my friends say so too” isn’t exactly compelling data when it’s not true for me or any of my friends. At that point, it becomes a worthless hearsay argument on both sides.

Regarding the grawl fractal boss – are you sure? You guys were in the middle of combat with it and it reset while you were actively hitting it, you’re sure. Because I’ve not once seen that happen. I’ve seen the shaman reset (only when I’m in a really bad group) multiple times, sometimes multiple times in a single fight, but I’ve never seen it reset because of a bug or during actual combat.

(Exotics being account-bound is incredibly weird. I’m still trying to decide if I want to forge or salvage them. _)

I used to run Twilight Arbor a ton getting tokens for my elementalist… The loot was horrible for the time spent. After recent patches I just started going to dungeons on my Warrior, wow what a difference… I am now getting drops my characters level that are good enough to use and/or sell for ~8 – 10s also getting tokens from chests which never happened before. And also made 70s – 1g in 2 runs, which is awesome considering I just started receiving World Bonuses, never got them since Beta.

Not bugged.

The boss lost aggro because everyone either ran too far and didn’t attack him for too long or stealthed one way or another. Your group was merely unable to handle the content. Find a new group and do it again.
