Dungeons update...
While I respect your right to your opinion, personally I disagree with you. I found it irritating in the extreme to be in a dungeon, get into trouble, and have people on the team let me die and yell at me to RezRun.
Dungeons in particular are meant to be about cooperative play. The idea of letting members of your team die is not cooperative to me. And it’s not like they didn’t introduce this with Fractals, another example of how important it is to play as a team.
But now it involves the whole pty getting pwnt to res 1 person or wasting time ressing 1 person instead of finishing the dungeon fast enough. The dungeons were already a pain to work with as a team and now this. I hope they don’t think every thing should be for the no lifers. The casual players don’t deserve punishments.
But now it involves the whole pty getting pwnt to res 1 person or wasting time ressing 1 person instead of finishing the dungeon fast enough.
Don’t get pwned… learn the dungeon mechanic’s and play with skilled players. :/

well i will admit im a no lifer but it hurts the ppl who just want to have fun and do something. Now ppl will rage quit on their party’s even more then before.
I think the new mechanism is a good change. It should have been this way from the start.

i think you’re totally wrong. People need to learn it is not a ‘waste of time’ to rez someone. If you do a dungeon right, you waste no time. No running past all the mobs, to do it ‘fast’ because it actually is slower.
What we need is better rewards.
we go through so much in dungeons for 60 tokens and blues and a dumb tonic. Yes i know ressing is important but when a person dies its better to res and run back and support your team with dps or tanking. When being forced to res a dead person there is a good chance the people ressing will die too. Which isnt a great thing because no one likes a unnecessary party wipe.
I know they added this so it would prevent the people who skip most dungeons trouble, but it seems to hurt the people who do the full thing a bit aswell.
Your party shouldn’t wipe from having to rez one person… It just shouldn’t happen. Just learn to do better!
The amount of side-stepping, work arounds, boss glitching, trash skipping, borderline exploiting in this game is out of control. Use common sense and logic. Do you think the devs meant the dungeons to be played out like this?
Come on.. This change is definitely needed.
Just played through AC. It’s fine. Gonna play through CoF next to see Maggs changes.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

yeah i agree its good that it will stop the dungeon exploiters but what about the people who do the whole thing lol. Imagine TA now or arah lol.

Your logic is flawed.
In your example you would still would have died, except now you will be stranded in limbo waiting for someone to rez you or your team to wipe.
The fact is you CAN’T force people, especially pugs to be good players. Penalizing dying in such a way not only penalizes the bad players that die but also their teammates who will have to fight on down one player.
Well just when you think they couldn’t be more awful this new update that doesn’t let you waypoint if you die now has done it for me. Probably will do little to no dungeons from now on. They already felt like a chore now its just not worth wasting time on.
Another thing that didn’t need a fix that got ruined. Whats next.
Are you kidding? Lol if you can just zerg a boss there’s no point. Take your time, learn the mechanics, play as a team, and play smart and you shouldn’t die in the first place. If you do, fix what it is you’re doing wrong and hey you magically won’t die anymore.
Also, have your team mates revive downed players before they are defeated and you won’t have a problem. The game is easy enough. They’re heading down the right path with this one.

I think he means that he was in Downed state first, and no-one helped him rally.
If someone goes down, one person helping someone who’s using skill 4 on their Downed bar doesn’t take too long to help. Especially if you’re a Tactics Warrior.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Not everyone will be on rambo mode in a dungeon party. I made this thread so the people who haven’t done dungeons like the no lifers aren’t looked upon as dead meat if they accidentally get downed and watch as when someone comes to res they get downed as well. Sure it doesn’t happen every time but mistakes happen and perma death till party resses doesn’t seem like a good time.

So now people who have done dungeons before and accept this change are “no-lifers”. Great concept.
Look at every other game. If the party wipes, they start the boss over. The original death running bullcrap in this game was not intended and it’s about kitten time they fixed it.
GW1: If you don’t revive players, it’s game over – start the mission or dungeon over (or from the nearest rez shrine). WoW – you wipe on a boss and everyone starts again from a fresh attempt. The list goes on. This change was well needed and should have been in from the start.
Coming from a guild of dungeon frequenters, I can safely say accidents do happen and people who get downed are not seen as dead meat. Any group that has some sort of competence will revive a downed player before he/she is defeated. If not, take turns reviving mid-combat or do without that player if the fight is almost over.
Learn to adapt, learn mechanics, learn to dodge and be a better player and you and everyone else around you will have a better time. I don’t mean you specifically, I mean you as in everyone having trouble with this change.

Cant wait for the rage to hit in CoF. Going to get any squishy class left behind because they cant tank during the last stage before final boss
Money can’t buy happiness, But it allows you to search in more places to find it !
Arah is going to be crazy as hell to pug, lol. Even more-so than already.

I don’t believe my logic is ‘flawed’ for two reasons:
First, it’s my OPINION.
Second, I was referring to situations where I could have been rally’d by my party, but they chose NOT to, and allowed me to die and then forced me to rezrun.
Similar issues happen with Tequatl and Jormag. Because a waypoint is very nearby to the Tequatl fight, I’ve seen many people ignore players who are dying or dead, going with the “they can waypoint rez”, whereas with Jormag, it’s the norm for people to rally and/or rez because of the distance from the waypoint.
Again, I’m not saying you are WRONG in your thought….I’m just saying I have a different perspective, but I believe mine is just as valid as yours.
Next will be ooc rezing only, then it will be fixed amirite? Play the way you want my kitten this fly’s in the face of another manifesto selling point and soon we’ll have cookie cutter dungeon builds forced upon us by min/max elitest jerks.
They said they would make dungeons easier to compensate for this change, but the patch notes didn’t indicate that they would all be easier. TA and SE are avoided, and there’s nothing in there to encourage people to do them. This has made it even harder and less fun to play them.

well SE got rid of the most annoying mechanic – never ending mobs during the golem mini fight.
I personally think that it’s a good update as long as they will balance it properly. Have been pawned in dungeons myself, with a good company even a long run with lots of repairs is fun. All this change requires is to learn to play dungeons better and well, after running them for a while you learn how not to die anyway.
most of the experienced groups I have been with didn’t need the way point anyway. In fact, that was why they were able to skip content in the first place. Because they knew they would not have to wp and then run back through mobs.
The ones who needed the wp are almost always those unfamiliar with the dungeon.
So….if it is Anet’s sole goal with this change to make sure inexperienced people never get to try out the dungeons, then it is working brilliantly.
if that is not their goal, well I would use the phrase, “most boneheaded change ever,” if it were not for the fact I might get an infraction.
Arah is going to be crazy as hell to pug, lol. Even more-so than already.
Yeah i dont see how pugs are gona find decent players for arah and cof p2 lol.
How does this stop exploiters? People are still able to do all 3 paths of CoE in a single run.

The point of GW2 is that it’s not like every other MMORPG, and they said that their plan from the start was that there would be no punishment for dying. This is not true anymore, as it feels punishing staring at my dead body as my team slowly dies. It has gone back to GW1, but why?
CoE is near impossible now, Alpha was difficult enough and it was still hard when you could Way Point and had to quickly run to him before his health went back up. A little bit of lag and this makes Alpha so hard. Please, Arenanet, find another way to stop people dungeon exploiting. What’s so bad about running through a dungeon anyway? I’ve been trying to get full CoE armour for about 4 months now, and it just keeps getting harder, and more of a grind.
my biggest concern is the attitude I am seeing in these types of threads. an elitist mindset is starting to shine through. It was bad enough to see this in the LFG tool and/or LA LFG spam but now it may get that much worse. I can just hear it now “LFG – no noobs, if you get downed you get kicked”
I don’t think thats going to stimulate cooperation.
If not having waypoint rush is a big deal to you, then I’m sure many people are glad that you are no longer doing dungeons. The devs most certainly would be as it was never their intention to have waypoint rush as part of the dungeon mechanic but only there as a placeholder. It also makes them less farmable, thus reducing supply of ectos and t6 mats on the market.
It’s really a win win for most people. Maybe not for players that may need help in dungeon, but that’s a small minority.
