Dungeons where 3 gold/run is not enough
Saying “path 4 only takes about 30 minutes” is like saying the 40-yard only takes 4.2 seconds. Or a marathon only takes 2.5 hours.
We’re not all Usain Bolts. If the reward was set in anticipation of 1-2 hour runs that would be more in line with the average dungeon community. Then the folks who can speedrun it get a nice reward for their accomplishments.
If they increased the rewards, I wouldn’t really have a problem with it. I just really don’t think it’s a big deal to have the reward at 3 gold. I really don’t see a lot of people doing this path daily, even if it were to give 6 gold. The average person will get the reward once or twice, maybe 3 times and the extra gold would be insignificant. Super farmers would benefit once per day, so I guess it would be cool for people like me. I’m still indifferent about it.

That was a good link. I’m a lot fatter and creepier looking than that, though.

Have you considered running P4 and selling the slots?

If I did not have a soul I would do this.

I do have a soul and do it! I’m helping others to achieve their dungeon master, i’m just helping.
Practice the paths. Path 4 is really not an issue any more and most guilds groups actually blaze through it. I can’t wait for this patch.
Everyone on Guild Wars 2 can’t just expect to be able to be good at everything straight away or expect Arena Net to nerf everything so everybody wins.

I don’t believe Arenanet should “nerf everything so everybody wins.” I have never advocated that. I believe that the harder content is, the better rewards it should have. I have no problem with content being impossibly hard – the reward just better be impossibly good. Arah p4 is not impossibly hard – I led a bunch of people in my guild through it today for their DM title, and it took ~2 hours. I know we could have gotten a 40 minute clear if I went with people who are experienced, but that just doesn’t happen often. As it stands, Arah p4 is one of those dungeons people are generally discouraged from running more than once, which isn’t good in the long run. It contributes to a stale meta where people end up running the same dungeons over and over because they give better reward per effort (See: CoF 1).

Why do you willingly subject yourself to terrible public groups and complain about it?
Arah P4 is 45 minutes or so with a well put-together and knowledgeable team, and not particularly difficult at all, but the reward for it seems inadequate because it takes pugs 2-3 hours? Heh, there’s no wrapping my head around that.
Similarly, P1 may take only 25 minutes.
My advice: find a proper dungeon guild and stop torturing yourself. The new rewards are plenty and it only seems disproportionate in regards to input:ouput for people refusing to better themselves as players, or to surround themselves by better players.
I am already in a guild with pretty decent players. I personally do not have trouble with most of Arah but it’s also my responsibility to run it with other members who don’t do Arah as much as I do. A lot of my people in my guild are relatively inexperienced with the dungeon and those who are familiar with it are already bored to death by most of the PvE content so they just don’t or rarely run it.
As far as Public Groups go, some friends and I took a PUG Arah first timer and we full-melee’d Lupi. I have no issue teaching people how to do dungeons – I enjoy teaching people, but when certain content only becomes rewarding to a tiny subset of hardcore players, that content just isn’t going to be played. I guarantee you that 3g isn’t going to bring many new people into learning how to run Arah P4.
Arah P4, as you said, takes 45 mins to an hour with a decent group. An OK group will complete it in 1:30. A bad group will get stuck at Simin for an hour and/or ragequit. An elite group will clear it in 30 minutes.
I maintain that 3g for a run of P1/P4, most of the time, is not worth the effort. I’ll generally only do P1/P4 if I want to help someone with DM or if I am practicing a speed clear.
Angle I remember that run the pug was using a clerics lvl 78 fine mace lol! Killed lupi first try in melee whole time. Was perfect run PUGs who listen gotta love em!

I personally don’t know what to think about the rewards. All I can say, is Guild groups can be fun but honestly not efficient all the time, What I have done as a player is established a group of guys I can run dungeons with all the time. We get through every dungeon in a speed clear matter yes we are by the meta “perfect group”, but If your a competent player and willing to learn things not a problem you can get your own “perfect group”. As for the rewards, anyone farming for a set of dungeon armour has added so much more time if they can only get ~180 tokens a day because it will be account bound. I am interested if the rewards scale by the level of the dungeon..because if CoF p1 is like 2g for a run because it is level 75 OMG! easiest 2g ever.
