Easiest dungeon for noobs?
I suggest you try, in no particular order :
- Twilight Arbour, path “up” (entry level is 55, so you can bring your lvl 50’s in),
- Citadel of Flames, path 1 (path 2 is doable too, but there’s a “defend the NPC” event towards the end that can be tricky for rookies),
- Honor of the Waves, any path, but note that path 2 have extensive underwater combat, you should update your underwater gear before trying it.
Trying Sorrow’s Embrace may also be an option, it’s been quite nerfed a couple of months ago, especially if you have a full party ready, since not a lot of people run it.

Do all the story modes when they become available. I’d suggest TA first for exploration since CM has a lot of ambushes and you need a step up in dungeon tactics. AC is quite punishing for beginners and it is easy to make no progress whatsoever. There is an early encounter with a jungle wurm in TA that you might find difficult but once you’ve mastered that you can do the rest.
Shadow’s embrace has mixed bag of paths: 1 is short and potentially difficult, 2 is very long and average difficulty, 3 is short and not so difficult. Citadel of Flame has two easy paths that you can run quite quickly so head there when you can. CoF path 3 isn’t easy for pick up groups but a guild group should be able work it out, giving plenty of options for getting CoF barter currency.
Very helpful responses, thanks all!
Play Citadel of Flame, Path 1. People can get something stupid like 5 minute speed runs so you can just blitz through it yourself if you skip trash mobs.

Is AC Story harder than CM Story?
No. AC story is still pretty easy with CM being slightly harder.
Thanks, Ayrilana, we’ll give AC Story a go then.
Technically there is no such thing as easiest dungeon if you go with a team that has never done any. One or two of you should go with other experienced groups first to see how is done and then show to the rest of the guild.
I would say FOTM 1. It is actually easier (and more well design) than the other dungeons. If you go there at low level, your get scaled to level 80 and the scaling favors scaling up.
CoF path 1 is easy for a decent dps group but when fights get drag out, things can turn ugly quickly.
CM is actually not easy for an unprepared group. Going in there without Reflection skills can be hazardous to your health.
TA is not easy as well. Many will fall to the poisonous blossom if unprepared.

Yeah, you’re totally right. Just to add to this, note that if you get cof parties through gw2lfg.com, you will be able to get carried because most players could easily 4 man cof path 1. So watch a video on it, learn how to stay alive during acolytes and totem parts and you will be fine. If your first run goes bad and some kid chews you out, forget him. Good luck!
Well CM2 won’t be easy for a new group due to the coordination with the barrels and the mechanics of the final boss.
First, I recommend typing /wiki dungeonname (minus the asterisks), in game before you do any dungeon if you’re not familiar with it to learn what to do. Or if you prefer learning as you go thats fine
CM exploreable is pretty hard, story isn’t too bad.
AC is also pretty easy though the troll can be rough now.
As said CoF path 1 is probably the easiest once learned but your guild isn’t high enough level
TA story mode isn’t too bad, there will be some challenge, during the final fight and the spider room specifically
Best advice I can give is to go to wiki, look at the dungeons, and see which one you think your group would have the easiest time starting out with
See, the paths they are suggesting are actually hard is my problem. The thing about this game is the high level dungeons are actually easier. It conflicts me to recommend “CM/TA” When in reality hotw/cof are easier but ofc, all levels cannot participate. The easiest path for lowbie dungeons has got to be SE P3, but the Armored Carrier will be very difficult if the correct tactics are not employed. Youd best go with Story Mode’s, or TA U/U, or have the 80’s pug a SE p3 to see tactics, then run it with your guild.
Anyone who recommends CM non p3 to a new group is insane. Even p3 is still very challenging
**EDIT: This opinion is written upon based your guild will NOT be skipping, exploiting etc..
CoF or TA.. CM is a stupid scooby doo dungeon. “Quick! Jump on the pillows to keep yourself from being impaled!”
OP her. Such a helpful thread, thanks all! Am I correct in assuming that ALL the story modes should be pretty easy and thus handled by our small noob guild before even trying any exploration modes?

It was a while since I did the story mode dungeons now but as far as I can remember they should be a bit easier. They might take longer though, especialy if you watch the cut-scenes(which you should do because it’s story). Also the fights in story mode doesn’t contain as much “DPS” fights as explorer but there is actually certain tasks that has to be fullfilled to finish the bosses and alike.
fractals of mist 1-10
Sorrow’s embrace p1
Cof p1
TA up/up.
Some paths in Cm, sorry forget which
AC sucks
hotw too long and boring
CM Storymode is the mode newb friendly, because while it’s not as easy as CM, it’s much shorter, and less frustrating.
