Elitists, elitists everywhere.
it is always the same answer you know, some people have done that or this dungeon so many times that they just want to finish it asap and get their rewards. In your case, I agree it was that guy’s fault.
Why would people join a first timer’s run and expect nothing to go wrong?
Some people are like that, they don’t bother to read, they just want to join and get their reward.
Some people are like that, they don’t bother to read, they just want to join and get their reward.
That’s why I always make sure nobody joins without first whispering me. It helps sorting through players a lot. People who can spell and articulate are typically much better players with better attitude than those who cannot.
Had pretty much the same experience as the OP earlier. Joined a group to run AC exp on path 2, which I had run before. Another player seemed to know the dungeon pretty well, but the other three players seemed new at it. Partway through the other experienced player went crazy, calling us all ‘stupd noobs’ and swearing a lot. We ended up booting him from the party.
Guy didn’t even try to explain what needed to be done. I had only run it once before, so I was still sketchy on the details, but this guys just went nuts and kept saying ‘kitten you’.
I can understand wanting to run with an experienced group, but when you join a PUG and then wig out because some of the players don’t know what to do… lame.
If it says clearly it’s a newbie run and i want to join them i expect error’s and mistakes but that shouldn’t be the problem since i will help then.
BUT if i join an ‘only experienced’ group who wants only ‘skilled’ players and they fail one after another i’m raging as well.
But in the end i can understand people, you just want your quickruns to get fast Tokens / money etc so i wouldn’t like to join ‘no 80’s ’ as well.
But the group class combination is absolutely seneseless i mean for Arah p4 i can still understand (even i got my Toon glasscannons for that) but the matchup doesn’t change anything except 1-2mins faster..
Guys it doesn’t matter. You can’t change peoples minds. It doesn’t work like that. What does it even matter if he left during dungeon? Go GW2LFG and find another person. What life taught me is that people are stupid. You can write them that this is noobish run and they will rage quit calling you names. You can write the guide for your guild on your forum and most people will ignore it. People are stupid, get over it.
If I join a group for AC and see it’s filled with people levels 40 to 70 and leave, how is that being an elitist? I know I can get a group with 4 other level 80s in under 5 minutes, so I choose to run with them.
Do I owe you my presence? Do I have some obligation to run with you? No, I don’t owe you anything. I am under no obligation to run with you.
Stop being entitled.
I had this so many times, Im trying to run Arah for first times, but seems like the ppl who know the instance dont even want to explane how its suppost to be done, I normally at start of the run tell that im new to this, and that if i do something wrong feel free to correct me so that i can learn.
I myself have been searching for a party to complete arah for 5 days now (i had one party wich was able to finish it, all else fail at some point, some later some earlyer). im almost all the time on gw2lfg and map chatting constantly. And when i finally find a party, someone rage quits etc and all that time is waisted… So im seriously full with these elitists, if u dont want newbies into ur party dont invite them its that simple.
For me, i’m willing to help and show them the ropes, but even after a few wipes people insist on standing in the red circles, thus taking people away from dps to rez their sorry kitten thus dragging the fight on and possibly wiping us, it just slowly whittles away any patience i had to the point i’m completely cool with saying 80s only for ac.
Maybe they “play how they want” and only have fun if the team is DPS oriented.

Boy, someone sure thinks a lot of themself…
This is so far from being an issue of entitlement that even mentioning it shows you missed the point entirely. There’s an enormous difference between saying “Hey guys, I really don’t have time to show a new group the ropes” or “Sorry, looking to run with an experienced party” and saying “kitten you noobs. What a kittening waste of time. You guys suck”.
Elitism doesn’t bother me. It’s being a total kitten for no other reason than because you can that does.

Funny you should say that. The wonderful person who screamed at us for being noobs also called us pussies because we didn’t res him. While the cave troll was standing on top of him. Using its AoE attack.
Oh, let me join this team because they have 4 people, nevermind im leaving because there is 1 lvl 40 , a lvl 79, 78 and lvl 60. Oh, let me leave because there is an elementalists, warrior and necro. Typical people nowadays. They seem to want the 4 warriors and 1 mesmer combo.
Just out of curiosity, I posted on lfg and said " This is our first time running this dungeon" midway we had one random getting upset at us calling us noobs and asking " it’s obvious you never ran this, you’re useless bye " people really need to calm down…And have some fun.
There’s something you misunderstand here.
Someone leaving because there’s a bunch of low levels in a dungeon exp team is not being elitest, it’s being realistic.
That team setup you listed I would not join in any dungeon exp team even prior to the patch. (Maybe not even story mode) That doesn’t make me elitest, that makes me experienced because I’ve seen those teams fail hard first hand many many times and would rather save myself the time.
Regarding the class setup I agree with you. There shouldn’t be any requirements for class in a team.
However, there’s a reason why people want 4 wars and 1 mes or 3 wars and 2 mes for p1 runs, because those are dedicated farming runs and not for tokens. That’s also not being elitest but rather realistic.
I personally have no problem teaming with people that never ran an instance. I have problems with people that never ran an instance and don’t listen to input.
Don’t use the word elitist so loosely. People who rage quits after a few fails or swears a lot are not what you call elitists, people who don’t want to join an inexperienced group and want easy rewards is also not necessarily what you call elitists. In this case, you have a problem with impolite, impatient, and nasty people, that is all.
no one ever runs to the forums after this kind of run. but oh no elitists is everyhere yo, dis guy left da group cuz da group wasn’t to his liking yo! he hav no right omg!
if you play with randoms then expect to run into kitten surround yourself with guildies that are not, best solution ever.
Well guildies are generally better but if you can pve with the same group of people its safer. I’ve been in some real doozies with PUGs. Just this morning I ran Arah and 2 dudes were talking elitist smack the entire run….. guess who the 2 worst players were in the group? They spent two thirds of the Lupicus fight dead so we pretty much 3 manned Lupicus since they only contributed during phase 1 and those grubs.
Your going to find these folks in any crowd, just ignore them and move on. Just the other night I ran accross a guy demanding everybody ping 20AR for lvl 10 fractals… Considering you can do lvl 10 jade maw with no AR and only go down if you were already hurt when agony was applied I just found this silly. Group votekicked him and got a less elietist guy in moments off LFG and we had a very smooth run dispite geting some of the worst fractals combinations.
last few AC runs have been with a mixed bag of levels. They ran really smooth for the most part. Level didn’t seem to matter as much as player’s simply knowing what to do. As far as arguing against new players vs experienced. . . Well I don’t know what to say. Whenever I run stuff (mainly HotW), I’ll take whoever I can get. A lot of the time I’ll get new players who will be upfront about their first time etc. Doesn’t really effect much.
Take a few seconds to explain something and don’t rush the group and usually it all pans out. =3
Sometimes you do run into that one person who’s so condescending, you can’t help much but notice how much they really do expect people to play like they do. D=

Hey look, you capped a pic with me in it! xD look, one of the AC runs I just talked about.
FYI, you’ll wanna take that pic down. Violation bro =/

Atamis, Thank you for willing ot help and show others the ropes. There are many many others like u in the game. Thank you again for ur time. With that being said. I dont think most that just stand in the red circles fully understand the AoE circles or just cant see them. It really wasnt until learning ot run CoE and fighting Alpha until I learned that I had to learn to play this game zoomed out. From someone that has run Tanks pretty much my whole MMO live. CoH, GW1 and GW2. I have always played zoomed in. To make it makes thing alot easier to see the Boss and who I am fighting. But in GW2 zoomed in means death. You just cant or it is very hard to see the Aoe ( Red Circles) When u are zoomed out its hard to see ur toon. With my Ranger I do played zoomed out. Not for sure if it will help. But when explaining to the new players to dodge the red circles. Maybe add in there to zoom out more. I have found it does help them alot more. But does take alittle time to get use too when u play mostly melee toons. Thanks again for ur time and willing ot help others. GL

PUGs. What can I say, some are wonderful, most are alright, some are awful.
I partied up with 2 fantastic teams last night. Took time to explain things, chat, take breaks, dance, congratulate and discuss plans when something didn’t go right the first time. Cue Happy dungeon dance.
Tonight, ’you’re a noob party, where’s your dps?’ ’I’m a noob? You’re a noob!’ then a rage quit. Actually not a ‘noob’ party and I admit that my router crying and disconnecting me probs didn’t help, but there was no communication between people. Communication, whether just “skip? no skip!” or some friendly class banter is key.
I’ll happily take people through a dungeon, stopping before each room and explaining what’s about to happen, because even experienced players my learn something off another, that they didn’t know. It’s how everyone has to start.
Those that wish to play with a high level party with experience, quit before an instance, or ask what people classify themselves as. Doesn’t take much time. Doesn’t waste anyone’s time. Therefore everyone’s happier and there’s no bad blood.
lfcg Come one, come all
Why would people join a first timer’s run and expect nothing to go wrong?
Because people don’t read.
Countless times I’ve had someone join my group thinking it was for a different level fractal, or thinking we were going to skip something despite it being in the description of the LFG.

Humm…. I wonder….
Many of the FPS type multiplayer games have a ‘lobby’ sort of system. I know the GW2 designers tried to avoid that system but the current system does not work so well ether.
I wonder what would happen if each dungeon was simply a WP that was otherwise unaccessable other than clicking on your map to enter? If 5 guild mates clicked on the map WP within 30s of the 1st one they’ll get grouped together otherwise everybody else would get tossed into 5 player groups. Period.
It would encourage Guilds and leave the PUG’s to complete randomness. Heck, even place a 5s WP fee on each instance to discourage playing ‘revolving door’ in attempts of getting a ‘better group’. Want a challenge? Play with 4 random people.

Maybe they “play how they want” and only have fun if the team is DPS oriented.
Thats true, I’m one of the Warrior player who only play 4w1m set up. i like to rush through innis and dont crawlings slow through it.
And just because we play the same game we dont HAVE TO play with eachother. Everybody plays with somebody he likes.
allways the: “mimimi nobody wanna play with me in rl and NOW nobody wanna play with me in vl” are anying.
Get a guild and play with it.

If you were with 1 or 2 more friends, maybe the other random sent the invite to the guy who rage quit and never told him that you were all new.
I’m not justifying being a jerk, he could have said “sorry guys, I don’t have enough time to run with you”.
But well that’s my advice, always ask again before starting the instance. People usually suck at reading.
I’ve had a lot of people joining my groups for the wrong paths, even for the wrong dungeon (CoE and CoF looks the same to some people). Happens too often.

I joined a sub 80 group once and it took way too long so I won’t do it again. Nothing personal and I’m not being an elitist at all but I have other things I need to do eventually and don’t want to be stuck in one dungeon run much longer than I need to be because people want to level their alts in dungeons. Besides there are two much faster ways to level a character besides dungeons.
i don’t have a problem with people not knowing what to do if they say so.
i’d gladly explain it to them.
now what i don’t like at all are people looking for speedrun groups and such who don’t know what they are doing.
so i wouldn’t have a problem with doing dungeons with you as you exclaimed that it’s your first time
