The Fractal Tonic has been in the game for a while now. However, I am still not sure which level you have to do to have a chance to see it in your dancing chest. The Fractured patch notes say that “The tonic is more likely to drop at higher fractal levels”, wiki says “Small chance from Daily Fractals of the Mists Chest at 41-50lvl difficulty range” and the Fractured blogpost says “Starting at level 40, this chest will have a small chance to contain an Endless Fractal Tonic”.
I would like to be sure about this as I do not want to waste time in a fractals 40 run. To me it seems that either you really have a chance at 40 or the writer of the blogpost forgot about the new daily range from 41-50 instead of 40-49.
GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
The issue though is that lvl 40 is a separate tier from 41-50, as we all know. Its well established that the tonic drops from the 41-50 daily chest, so it comes down to the op’s question (and one my group has been wondering for a while now): can you get it from running lvl 40s?
The logical answer to me would be no, since it seems odd that there would be only 1 level within a reward tier that gives the tonic, meaning it would have a different drop table. However, Anet has done stranger things in the past and despite several inquiries to support, they still haven’t answered the question.
This whole issue revolves around the Fractured release notes about the tonic reward drop which state that it “starts at level 40”. I’ve just assumed it was a typo, but its been months now and we still don’t have an answer.
