Something I really miss from GW1 is after clearing a dungeon you had a shot at super-rare exclusive items in the endchest. While RNG-based, they were a pleasant addition to the game because players could score big if they sell the weapon.

What if GW2 had a similar system? Sort of like the Monocle and Jetpack, but permanent. Players would start playing things like Arah 4 or CoF2 at a shot of rare skins.

This would also be a great opportunity to bring back skins players loved from GW1. My ideas so far:

- Arah
Path 1 (Jotun): Bone Dragon Staff (Most popular staff if GW1)
Path 2 (Mursaat): Mursaat Hammer (Who doesn’t love this?)
Path 3 (Forgotten): Tormented Shield (Forgotten inhabit the Realm of Torment.)
Path 4 (Seer): Obsidian Edge (Rarest weapon in GW1)

What items do you think should drop from other paths? I definitely think they should bring back a black-dyed Voltiac Spear as a staff, and they need to also bring back Dhuum’s Soul Reaper too!

Them, adding good-looking skins that can be earned à la gw1, in a game where esthetics are so important? Not in the gem store?

Eternal blade, scythes in general. The envoy weapons were sick. But mostly: FACTIONS SHIELDS!

Yeah, not happening. They have all the great skins of GW1 to recycle, and instead they reskin GW2 karma sets and butcher remakes of Zodiac weaponry.

Cosmetic designers in this game are absolutely pitiful.

I think they intended the dungeon armors to be the replacement for this, because they said they didn’t want to make you endlessly run things just for the chance of getting the skin you want.

Then they almost immediately added fractal skins. Whoops. But you can’t sell those, so they’re not quite what you want. But then they also added aetherpath, and those skins are exactly what you’re asking for. I suspect aetherpath is almost never run, though, and that probably makes them think that this sort of reward isn’t worth spending time on (even if the main problem is just that people don’t like aetherpath much, although tbh I do like it and wish I could get people to run it more often).

This is pretty much exactly what OP is asking, and proof that such rare drops are no incentive as all as Aetherpath is pretty much dead content.

This is pretty much exactly what OP is asking, and proof that such rare drops are no incentive as all as Aetherpath is pretty much dead content.

Aetherpath weapons are also just recolours of Nightmare weapons.
