Hello. Before I start ruining dungeons for someone I’d like to ask this question. I am playing with a WvW-oriented condi mesmer build (20/20/30/0/0 staff and scepter+torch with rabid gear). Will it work in explorable dungeons? (I know its not a pve build)
If no, how good your gear needs to be? Do you have to be full exo, or rare will work?

I’ve made several story mode dungeons and that was easy (2 of them we did as 4). I’ve read the tactics but noone ever bothered following them, we’ve just facerolled our way to the chests. Is it the same in explo, or you have to actually remember the tactics?

Conditions builds in PvE are sketchy at best, considering some conditions stack only to 25, and usually will cap fast with one player already focusing on stacking said condition. Some of the explores are largely facerolls, or including skips/exploits. A good CoE group can clear all paths in about 20-30 minutes (each), assuming you know the timing for Alpha and know how to fight the path-specific bosses properly. CoF P1 is relatively easy and fast, HotW P1 is largely a faceroll as well. Some paths are longer and harder, but generally most don’t require much other than knowing when to dodge.

As for Mesmers, most I see are using GS with Zerker builds, though I have heard sword/pistol can be just as viable if used properly; though I don’t know if that’s true or not. For the most part, have Feedback and Timewarp on. You can play any way you want, I’m just speculating on what I usually see, good luck and have fun running dungeons.

I’ve read that typical CoF party is a 4 bers warriors + support mesmer, is it still true? Im just curious what’s the cheapest way to make myself viable in dungeons, and rabid gear might work if I’ll be supportive/tanky (well, I can keep half of it).
Still interested in gear requirements, since not like I have much of gold, just finished getting exotics for gold/karma, for my first 80.

If you can play well you are viable in dungeons. Worry about the elite player speedrun builds later. If you take an elite zerker setup into dungeons with a poor group you will die fast unless you can play well.

IMO CoF is not the best example to follow, most of the people who run a 4war+mes are “speed runners”(but in fact, they are not, because they don’t even know the best dps rotation and all they do is hurr durr 100blades), so take any guide for it with a grain of salt.
You can run with pretty much any build with pugs(as long you don’t join a zerk gear only), after you get used to run dungeons, you can try and change your build.
