Hi all,

did a Fractal for the first time yesterday and after doing that / reading the wiki I found a couple things I do not understand / need help.

1.) I did 2 fractals with the group and than had to leave due to time reasons, does this mean that the next time I go for a FOTM run I have to run 2 more fractals to get into the “boss fractal” of my current tier, or do I actually need to make the full run of 4 fractals with the last being the boss.

2.) As mentioned above, as I will progress to higher difficulties, I can also imagine that the difficulty of a “full run” will be more and more time consuming. Should I prep. myself for lengthy and time-heavy investments?

3.) Similar, does the daily fractal chest drop after succesfully completing 4 fracs in one day? (I guess yes, but oh well…)

4.) any tips appreciated, like “do not sell +1 agony infusions” or whatever

PS: should anyone be interested, we rolled swamp first followed by cliffside. All were newbs like me with no proper exp beforehand. We did well. I did not felt doing anything forced and we figuered out the mechs at a decent rate. + no wipes.

thanks!

1. You need to do a full 4 scenario run in one sitting. The fourth scenario is one of the boss levels.

2. Expect your times to vary depending on PUGs. Scaling of level affects how much time you spend a little bit too. But yeah. PUGs.

3. Yes.

4. Tips: Look at the dungeon mentor thread and hit up some of the people who might be teaching Fractals. Go with a spirit of listening.

1.) You have to do full runs of 4 fractals to get the reward and an increase of you fractal level.

2.) Fractals are time consuming so bring some time

3.) Yes you get the chest after a full run.

Learn how to dodge the attacks of the bosses as they will hurt quite much on higher levels :P

You must run 3 fractals+the boss fractal in a row to receive a daily chest for that tier (1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50) The daily chest you receive is based on your personal reward level (running a level 11 fractal at personal level 1 will only award a level 1 daily chest.) The time investment gradually ramps up as you progress (each tier increases agony and enemy difficulty). I categorize the levels into 3 difficulties (1-19 is beginning level, 20-39 is intermediate, 40-50 is the most difficult. Level 50 fractals shouldn’t take more than 2 hrs maximum, with a good team. Agony infusions are useful, once you have infused ascended items. Agony Resistance is only useful in increments of 5, save the infusions for later. The fractal mats you need to infuse items are found from 1-20+ so it’ll be a while before you can infuse items. Also, do not return to the lab if you need to repair, that will reset your fractal progress. If you need to repair, return to character select and reenter Lions Arch.

2) 3 things gonna influence the length of the fractal.
- Which fractal do you get. If you are lucky you can get 3 fast fractals, but you can also get Swamp, Colossus, Dredge, Mai Trin.
- Your team. Always better to have a guild group or play with people that you know and are in a VOIP. But sometimes you don’t have a choice and you can get a really bad pug and pugs.
- Your level and instability. Some fractal can become more difficult in higher level. For example : Volcano is one of the esiest and fastest in low level, but in high level this can be wipe after wipe after wipe with a not so good group. Also some instability can be a pain in some particular fractals.

Usually a Fractal run should take you 1 hour. But i saw some run take as much as 3 hours. You need to have at least 2 hours a head of you if you gonna go in fractal. Just make sure that if you have a limit time don’t start the fractal so you can quit while the rest of party can finish it.

4. Dungeon Mentors are here to help! Most of our mentors are experienced in Fractals. If you’re not confident in PUG, hit up one of our mentors, grab some friends and get the group rolling.

I also offer teaching run to newbies, any levels from 1 to 9. I can’t think of any tips from the top of my head, but they’ll come naturally in action.
