FastestWayToGetDungeonGearIsByGoingPvP?
In the other hand doing dungeons you get so much gold you can just buy the equivalent exotic gear from the TP. Probabily even faster than spvp reward track. Unless you are going for the skin….
I agree they should nerf the reward tracks a little bit, but they are too busy trying to push the “wanna be esport” idea to spvp. Pve and wvw are left to dust while they focus kitten spvp.

Yup, if you want the dungeon skins, go PvP. If you additionally want gold, go Dungeons.
Actually your calculation is not “optimized”, you just calculated the average token price over all armor. If you want to get the skins as fast as possible, always choose the most expansive missing skin from the chest (ie. get light, medium and heavy chest armor first) and get the others with tokens. This will reduce the number of tracks you’ll have to finish to get the full set. In total you would have to run the PvP track 9 times: 3 armorpieces over 180 tokens (gotten with chests) and 3 exactly 180 tokens (bought via tokens) per armor type (and 27 weapon boxes, more than enough).
To get all the skins with dungeonruns you need 10290 tokens (3×1380 armor + 6150 weapons). If you were to run 3 paths every day it would take about 57 days.

Bahantopa I think your math is a little off. If you get 60 tokens per path you’re looking at 171 paths if 10290 is correct. That’s not counting the few champ tokens that come in the bags. Which if doing 3 a day you’re looking at 57 days.
I initially went “wait, wtf!” because I’m sitting at 8k arah tokens with the achievement for having all gear from it. I sure as hell hope I don’t have 2+ years worth of it under my belt because I haven’t been playing that long >.<
Either way GW2 pvp SUCKS terribly. Like really, it’s the worst MMO PVP I’ve ever done, and I’m usually a fan of PVP.
Upps, must have missed the 0. I did wonder about that high number, but i never questions my first result, else i would also question my second, third etc
Either way, I totally agree this PvP reward system is broken as hell. If you run all dungeons every day, this probably isn’t a problem for you, I find it funny nonetheless how people who never actually set their foot to dungeons got their “dungeoneer” title much faster and easier way than people who do them every day. PvP shouldn’t reward unique PvE skins. That’s like asking that we get glorious hero armor just from running a few dungeon paths.
I must admit though that gold reward from PvP is nowhere near as good as that from dungeons. I don’t know what would it do to economy, but they should completely re-do the PvP reward system from scratch. Buff the gold rewards by several orders of magnitude (so that PvPers can at least afford some gold related stuff), but nerf the ability to get unique PvE-only skins. Like the ones from dungeons.
Also things like dry top reward track seem like a bad joke to me. You never do any of PvE, but you get all the skins, all the achievements, all the items,… Often it’s even more viable and much easier than actually doing the PvE itself.
I misread the title as “Dungeon Girls” and was confused for a minute there…. too much DanMachi I think.
Anyway, I’d put the average time per PvP match loser to 18 minutes due to queue times, but it does vary a little based on the map you get, and the average will be lower in unranked than ranked because of it.
Also, you’re going to get 63, 66, or 69 tokens for the first completion of a path per day, not 60, because of the bags-of-open-these-because-we-said-so.
Fastest way is to do both, pve for the cheap armor pieces and pvp for the weapons + expensive and armor pieces.
If you want different collections running several dungeons a day in pve is better.
As far as unique skins: fractal skins, the dream skins ( ta), sunless skins and several LS rewards are unique to pve. On top of that you make more gold doing pve.
Like DutchRiders, I do a mixture of both. I use the Reward Tracks to unlock the weapons and the expensive armor pieces (chest and leggings), then use the tokens obtained from both PvP and PvE to buy the cheaper armor pieces + offhand weapons. It’s really sped up my progress on the Dungeoneer collection.
Note that some Dungeon skins can also be obtained via the Personal Story. (Namely, the Caudecus Medium armor skins, plus the Arah helm skin.)
