Favorite Dungeons?
Good question! I was actually thinking about starting a thread like this, but it just wouldn’t be negative enough for me, so I didn’t
Here are my favorites in order:
COE – Awesome locale, even sort of challenging, love the laser jumping, the dark humor is fun, good drops, best heavy armor; but a little tough to run on some PCs
AC – Hey look!, the setting is actually a dungeon! Love the atmosphere. Cheap armor with good stats. Although not a huge fan of graveling paths for their monotony.
Arah – I love how long the runs take; I’m not kidding. Love the Lupi fight. All the conditions from mobs are kind of annoying though. Light armor is amazing.
TA – I really like the atmosphere and art design of the setting, also it’s even a little tough at times. Armor is unique; light armor is really nice.
HotW – Love the crooked floor. So disorienting and unique. Good statted armor.
SE – I love story mode, but I’m not a huge fan of explore mode.
COF – I find this whole place kinda monotous, but the armor is nice enough.
CM – Not very dungeony. The enemies are a little too human for my taste.
No one enjoys [it]. No one finds it fun.” —Colin J.
Arah is my favorite dungeon hands down. GL is the crowning achievement of dungeon boss design, and if every other boss in the game took a page out of GL’s book this game would be the ultimate in gamer enjoyment. That said, I also love AC because it’s fast and fun and Kohler amuses me when he murders pubs and they complain about how broken he is.
I’ve been growing to like CoE, despite having to beat up Subject Alpha many more times than any average boss. Funny I say that but I have a hard time trying to associate myself with playing an Asuran character. As with the dungeon, I do like the technological sci-fi feeling to it and wouldn’t mind doing more Asuran-themed dungeons, like the Uncategorized Fractal, which is another one of my favorites.
Second on my list would be Sorrow’s Embrace, especially Story Mode with the Iron Forgeman. I remember fighting the Iron Forgeman in GW1 and I thought that was quite a challenge, especially since in Hard Mode— pretty intense stuff! Though the fight in GW2 was dumbed down a bit, it’s still a fun fight.

Ooh, let’s see now, best to worst…
CoE: The environment is fantastic, and there’s variety in the enemies, which is really important for the fun factor. The holograms of Kudu in Story Mode make the whole thing super-atmospheric, and tbh, Alpha isn’t as bad as everyone says.
CoF: The armour may be over-used (so many have it), but the dungeon is fun, both modes. Some incredibly fun bosses and effigies to fight. Not keen on the spinning-axe-charr-boss-of-death, he’s over the top.
SE: The dungeon I run the most. It’s better than people give it credit for (obvious problems notwithstanding).
Arah: Story Mode is breathtaking, IMO. It would be higher if not for the crushing length and difficulty of Path 4, the first explorable path I tried in Arah. Soured my experience a bit.
HotW: Beautiful environment.
TA: Variety between the paths in TA is key. The area with the vines, though, is pretty horrible. My screen fills with red circles.
AC: Easiest dungeon, still fun, still worth running. Gives GW1 nerds like me a blast from the past to fight the maddened spirits of people we remember from pre.
CM: The only dungeon I really do not enjoy. Mountains of HP on every doorman or dog doesn’t equal challenge. Indoor environments of the estate should be given their dues, though, they’re brilliantly crafted… but I won’t be going back in CM for them alone.
For the record, I love that Arah p4 is brutal and crushingly difficult, it makes my Dungeon Master title feel like something I actually like showing off.
CoF path 1 and 2: ridiculously fast and also fun to try achieving optimal time.
SE path 1 and 3: both fast but 1 is especially fun considering the start.
Arah Forgotten and Seer: forgotten is just lolfast and straightforward, and seer is bit longer but fun when skipping almost everything.
CoE path 1: not very fast but different enviroment makes it enjoyable at times.
Besides the stupid Destroyer in Path 3 and the pointless golem you have to fight on every path, I really like CoE because it has interactive and interesting boss fights, team work elements, and isn’t too easy or insanely hard because of cheap elements either.

CoE and HotW easiest my favourite dungeons at this moment!D
love the setting and fights in CoE, just hard to get a group going sometimes. but when you do, it’s awesome. HotW is rather easy, but i love the atmosphere, the enemies, as well as the slanted / crooked landscape. and has helped me fall in love with underwater combat.
AC i always have fun with. actually looks like a dungeon. though can be done quickly and most people will, it’s fun and if you take your time can be quite enjoyable. most boss fights are easy, after you know their mechanics but at the same time, you can’t just AFK and spam auto attack to win. still takes paying attention to and in my mind, can be fun still.
haven’t dont Arah yet but looking forward to that. TA is quite fun and love the atmosphere as well.
SE is.. meh. fun for the first couple of times. i didn’t mind Path 1 so much before the last patch. Path 2 was prety fun with the golem boss at the end too but haven’t tried it since they buffed it.
CoF is alright, but for some reason, i was never a fan of the lava mountain /cave atmosphere.
CM. worst. just because. people say it’s fast and perhaps true but the mobs have the most annoying mechanics ever. and it’s a in a mansion.

None! Since you asked…
I actually don’t like being stuck LFG’ing and stuck with a group like this. Dungeons actually give me anxiety, I kid you not. I’d much rather it like PvE events where we all enters sporadically and let a natural funneling of people occur. Like a traffic jam, when we meet up with Bosses. We all slow down and build up until we have enough force to take it down. The Dragon events seem to be quite popular still. But, nothing has rewards like dungeons do and that is sad…
Maybe with all these list putting CoE at the top, I might give it a try.
Just CoE.
AC, CM, TA, SE, CoF, HtW are too easy.
Arah and Fractals are plagued by various bugs that take all the joy out of the dungeon.
That leaves only CoE, a dung that requires you to be good at dodging, dung that has barely any exploits or bugs, dung that brings several interesting mechanics that you wont see in any other dung. Yes CoE is a masterpiece.
Honor of the Waves is my favorite. I’m not sure why, to be honest. I just love playing it, from the loot to fighting every enemy. I’ve even constructed special builds for it.
Typically I like to run it daily for the rewards and I don’t skip content either. I enjoy taking on the Svanir and dishing out as much damage as I can, via the nourishment (powerful potion) and the sigil dmg buff.
I’m not sure how else to explain why I like it. It’s not really an “easy” dungeon, but it’s not uber difficult either. Fits perfectly for me.
I love the dungeon that’s quite challenging but neither faceroll nor brick wall, takes reasonable time and gives good loot.
Oh wait there isn’t any.
CoE and SE are my favorites for their interesting and unique fights. There are a few duds in there (CoE path 3’s destroyer boss and the totem golem on all paths and SE path 2 could be shorter) but they are still my overall favorites.
For their atmosphere I also really like CM and HotW.
