Well basically what the title says – what are your feelings on this?

My only experience in raids is the first boss of the first wing. I played as just a DPS. I didn’t have much time then but I do now and I want to get in to it. Anyway, don’t get me wrong.. I don’t mind gearing up a druid. However, the Tempest aura, rebound overload thing is more my style. I’ve been suprised at how well it does personally and I don’t see a problem with it. It’s all around more fun and I feel more skillful at it than druid. I just don’t exactly know how other people feel about it.
..But from what I’ve heard, druid is prefered.

So if I were to want to join a raid as a tempest and be the healer would it be viable? And even it was viable would I be discriminated against, kicked out of the party, or insulted? I know people in the game do that.. and it doesn’t bother me too much but I still want to have a good time.. you know?

So what are your thoughts? If I can’t should I play a non-healer tempest instead? A druid? or maybe even a different class altogether? What are my options?

P.S.- if it works out I’d probably be using it in high leveled fractals as well

It heals more than a druid and makes the fights much easier, but also longer, since you’re missing out on some great druid buffs (frost spirit, sun spirit, spotter, grace of the land). All in all it’s great for groups who just want to get some kills and don’t care so much about speed and performance.

DPS ele is obvs great. Atm basically at every fight they’re top dps and highly sought after. This might change on tuesday with the balance patch, there are some rumours going around… Anyway, druid is also a great pick for raids, though personally I don’t rly like the gameplay so much.

Not sure on the total outgoing heals…but it’s certainly less burst healing and more sustained.

The rest is true enough, in addition it’s better in mobile fights like Matt.

Tempest healer can be nice if your group is continually eating a lot of avoidable damage, because over the course of a fight, it’ll have a higher total healing output than a druid.

On the other hand, druid has the significant damage buffs, and much stronger burst healing than a tempest. For most experienced groups, druid is going to be the better choice due to how damage dynamics work. Generally speaking, damage will occur more often in a couple large instances when a couple people screw up a mechanic, making the burst healing of a druid well suited for instantly bringing everyone back up to full.

Although temp healing is not as bursty as druid’s, it can still dish out some 10-12k burst heal while still giving superior sustain healing as well. Most fights don’t need that many heals and with somewhat decent party, druid heals are enough + dmg buff. Tempest is nice for less skill groups.

Soothing mist zealot/Magi tempest healer is easy mode healing (auto attack to win) but your fights will often go into enrage timer or, for gorse, the party will wipe.
My suggestion is to only use it during training raids, like escort and vg, where the timer is non existent or minimal (zealot tempest can heal through vg enrage damage). But for serious progression raiding you need a druid because of the party boosts.
