FoTM level is meaningless

What does that have to do with what the OP wants?
The OP is saying (from what I get) that ANet should remove all ways of getting AR from outside fractals (or in case of MF upgrades, require at least one account bound item you can only get in fractals) so that people actually have to grind their way through fractals with low AR, like it was on release.
I’d welcome going back to that point too, but it’s simply too late.
i remember back when fotm proved skills.
every one worked their way up
you want to do the highest level you have to grind through low level, know what you are doing and get the AR trinkets.
and it was a enjoyment to do high level fotm with people who are also high level.
which kept me doing fotm.now every farmers and their moms can do lv50
people with full AR and eternity can’t dodge a single incoming skill, i felt like a professional nurse which is not enjoyable.
please fix this
I’m sorry I dont understand your complaint? Do you mean rich people doing fractal 50 are terrible? Or do you want to block people from joining levels above there personal level? I believe its the later in which case I do agree. I have recently seen a influx of new players trying 50 for the first time. 49 fractals is nothing compared to a 50.
Just create a LFG for only skilled players with whatever else you require.
You cant be elitist in a PUG LoL, thats the danger of PUGS man. If your really elite you should have a team that does High level fractals daily. I think King is recruiting right now if you wanna try them or other fractal guilds.

I kinda miss the fact that everyone had to be the same fractal level (no piggybacking).
I kinda also miss if someone DCd you had to 4 man it.. or the instance owner DCd…:D
Thing is, now a lot of people do levels so much higher than their own reward level and don’t have a clue about what they are doing.

It really shows when people haven’t done all lower scales when you’re up that high.
At least in the past, you had to get both rings/infused/backpiece by doing Fractals~~
The problem was, when the fractal changes “started” you needed to do Guild Missions/Laurel saving to get Amulet/Earrings.
I guess I liked that the whole point of Fractals (to me at least) was you progressed in Fractals, to progress in fractals
What I mean by this is, you had to do Fractals, to do higher fractals.
Now, you make all the armor/earrings/backpieces/amulets from open world pve/living story/guild missions and it’s just not the same.
Okay you still have to do some fractals to get the Versatile Infusions for the AR, but that can be got just doing 1-10 at the end of the day :/

Just change it the way u need the least ar for the next tier and not the highest thn climbin up won’t be as faceroll. If for exp. they open up for fractals 80+ u shouldn t be able to aquire enough ar to compensate for the agony.

Because it’s the opposite of what he wants? Can’t help a lowbie level up in my frac 50 if they change it back.
In any case there’s no point. Anyone who wants exclusivity in a casual game like GW2 where everything is made extremely accessible to everyone, in content that’s been beaten to death for over 2 years is only kidding themselves. If it’s about “experience”, try pugging a few low level fractals. The tactics are completely different from high levels (like ranging molten duo), you don’t need to dodge and all you learn are terribad exploits like uw mossman and getting rezzed by ellen at mai trin. In the end even people with reward level 50 that just tank up in nomads are absolutely clueless half the time.
At least they wouldn’t get lost in cliffside 40 while holding the hammer, roaming aimlessly, and then fall with it a couple of times while the rest of the team scrambles to reach it before they can do any more damage.

I can see the pros and cons of the old and new system.
Being fractal level 53 pre fractured on my main, the process of getting there was fun but also a grind. Finding people to do fractals took time. Also, people did not have the game down to a science and fractal 50 runs without guardians or eles (or both) were not uncommon.
What I really like about the current system:
+ fractal level across all characters
+ being able to party with people of multiple fractal levels and still get the reward (let’s face it, most of the people do fractals for reward chest. very few run multiple fractals daily without reward chest.)
+ instabilities make fractals a tad more challenging
Drawbacks
- instabilities are completely unbalanced.
- most people run fractal 40 or 50 to skill up and ignore the isntabilities inbetween
I guess it’s a give and take between making fractals more accessible (I’m all for this) and ramping up the difficulty.
Personally I’d suggest anet to change the isntability system. Make it so people can chose between 1 of 5 random generated instabilities. Then add a bonus for better loot or something to the very difficult ones.

I prefer how the system work now, except for two thing.
- Instability are kind of random. Level 34, 42, 44, etc are fare more punishing than level 50 for exemple. And if some instability really bring something new to the experience like the Mosman in level 31, the explosion in level 39, the targets in level 41, etc. The Majority of the instability is just a small nerf to your boons, condition, damage or survivability. It only make the fractal longer, without adding anything new to the fractal itself. The level of the fractal is suppose to make stuff harder by making mobs hit harder and resist more, the instability should bring something else. My opinion is that instability should be like gambits from the Crown Pavilion. Remove the majority of boring instability and keep like 5-10 of the coolest of them. At the beginning of the fractal you can choose a couple of instability to make the run harder, but this give you more reward when you finish it.
- The second thing that I dislike about the system is way more important for me. When we got fractal for the first time Agony Resistance was view differently. At level 30+ or 40+ (can’t remember exactly) you couldn’t have enough AR to make any difference. You could have the maximum amount of AR or zero it wouldn’t make any difference. AR was just a way to make low level fractal easier when you wanted to farm them or for casual. At level 30/40+ with no AR to protect you, a lot of the Agony attack would kill you. You were not down, but dead. Each arrow of the shaman, each axe of the Mosman, each AoE from Bloomhunger, etc. We were on our toes for the whole fight, with each mistake potentially fatal. And it’s not like those attack were stupid either. Most of them were easily dodgable. They were telegraphed, you could see them and you could dodge them. But with all that was going one, it was also easy to miss them or to run out of active defense. That was the only trully challenging content of GW2 with SAB tribulation mode, in my opinion.
