in fractals you can do perfectly fine without. Also in the dredge level if you’re invisible on the console dredge that spawn there will still attack you so it’s better for the people on the buttons to be visible and attract more aggro to themselves off the person on the console.
Somewhere around upper 20’s or low 30’s, there are enough dredge that surviving with 2 people on/near each button while the fifth comes down and triggers the console is just not practical in a pug. Dying on the button while a thief does his thing at the console is a class specific workaround that I don’t think they want.
Since I don’t need karma for a legendary, I go through these things like they’re nothing. Dredge fractal, other fractals, aggro wipe (speed run or just need a breather from pressure), rezzing, etc.
There are several little nerfs that they can implement on Spy Kits if they don’t want to remove them from the game:
Cast time
Reveal if any action is taken
etc
Spy Kits are wonderful and improve my gaming experience in dungeons in pretty much every way. They also give me something to actually spend Karma on, which is wonderful, since there’s nothing else really worth it. I sure hope they don’t nerf / remove them.

I’m a mesmer and once the control panel door is open, I use mass invisibility to get in and use spykits to open door, simple as. If others have spykits and know what they are doing this stage can be completed in less than 1 minute with no deaths. After that all or most of the mobs despawn.
Same as opening the door with them gun things, this can be done alone or with 2/3 people with spykits, kill the last 3 mobs and take the gun things, the others run back out the way. This way AOE don’t get you because you’re all invisible. Again after door is down they despawn.
Spykits make some fractals so much easier and faster.

my party used spykits a lot. I don’t know whether it’s a bug or something, but you definitely need someone visible holding aggro right next to the person on a console, because there are dredge that spawn right on them and hit them, even though they’re invisible.
The same way that spykits have not worked on a console hack in CoE.
I did the dredge fractal on L40 last night, and we definitely all just used Spy Kits and had no trouble. They didn’t cheat and see us, or anything of the such. The Dredge just stood there until we were done, and then despawned as expected. I haven’t tried it on the CoE console, but I know it works for sure without issue or weird aggro issues in the Dredge fractal. Just remember that they have some slow projectiles, so if they shoot you before you use the Spy Kit, they can still down you.

That is not true. Spy kit drops your aggro. You are being hit by attacks fired off before your aggro was dropped.
Spy kit is more for dropping aggro while ressing, dredge is not the sole use for it.

If the spykit didn’t work as intended then yes it’s a bug, i don’t believe that using spykits in a dungeon is in any way an exploit, they give us tools to use, so we use them.
If they don’t work then it’s a bug, report it :P.
I also don’t see the need to remove spykits from the game or nerf them, i can see why they are not allowed in PvP/WvW but in dungeons they are ok, and still need some skill to be used correctly.

Yes there are bugs with spykits, I notice it happening when combining it’s use with other stealth abilities. Just try again if you encounter them. It’s not a common occurance

I don’t consider 28 Karma being a huge drain; considering people can have Karma coming out of their ears when they’re level 80. Also consider the Jug of Karma you get for your daily, which can grant up to 7,875 Karma (that’s a free 281 Spykits every day).

Consumables aren’t a crutch, they’re a benefit to those who think about an encounter ahead of time, rather than bash their sword and face against it til it ends.

I’m totally fine with removing stealth from the game too. I think it was poorly implemented. Using stealth to bypass parts of a dungeon or in pvp fighting a thief that disappears half of the fight is not fun or good game design.

Why not remove all forms of CC while you are at it. Let’s give everyone a single AoE and a single ranged attack and call it a day.

Yeah, and who needs AoE skills right? They just clutter up the screen! Oh, and remove CCs, they disrupt the flow of fights! While we’re at it, let’s get rid of conditions altogether, pesky poisons making fights against enemies using regeneration too easy!

41.6 min of invisibility for the low low price of 7k per stack? not really a drain since you can make this kind of karma from 3-4 dungeons and itll last you 3-5 days. not bad.

Mostly because there is no way to survive on buttons after a certain level….just impossible.
Bad thing is you actually NEED spykits to do dredge at higher lvls….that is imho a design mistake.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
or you need to be full ascended, like ascended armor and weapons

haven’t gone past level 20 so I wouldn’t know. Though I’ve heard that at levels 40+ fractals turn insane.
I’m ok with Anet removing the spykits from dungeons but they have to understand that IT’S IMPOSSIBLE to stand alone against 5+ melee and ranged dredges with skills and boons without moving from the button.
Give them annoying skills, give them bumps, give them whatever you want so they push you off the buttons but not damaging skills.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single group being succesful doing this the normal way after frac 25 or something.
