Has a change been made to the artillery barrage phases on tier 1 of this fractal so (1) they last longer and (2) the barrage covers most of the floor so there are no safe spaces to stand? I have been experiencing multiple times where it is not possible for me to double-dodge away to a safe spot.

I have not been entering anything higher than tier 1 for this fractal, so I do not know if this appears to be occurring at higher versions too.

It seems too hard for a tier 1, fractal 18 would be the most difficult tier 1 fractal to do.

Edited to say seems too hard for a tier 1, had originally typed tier 2 (typo!).

In t4 it seems to be okay, but occasionally people might die since there’ll be an area filled with the AoEs. I’m sure that there will always be a safe spot.

Try using your dodge rolls to a safe location and use your heal skill if needed if you’re standing in area full of them.

It is hard because people run all the time all around making the AoE circles cover all the area. Tell your party stay in one place, run and/or dodge just if needed and move the less as you can.
Good luck and have fun.
In a side note, because the arch of the cannon fire ball sometimes hits you even you are not inside the circle.

The barrage is too long and too easy imo,
But it gets hard and annoying when everyone is running around. One guy in the middle, rest in a corner. Just take small steps to get out of the aoes. Dont run around, be ause the batches of barrage overlap

Remember, that barrage follows the players. More players in the same spot, more aoe circles around. The more you move around, the bigger overall area the part of barrage designated for you will cover (but then, the density will be lower).

In a side note, because the arch of the cannon fire ball sometimes hits you even you are not inside the circle.

Yep, some of the cannon shots are projectiles, so can hit you if you’ll happen to be directly between the firing spot and the designated target area.

Remember, that barrage follows the players. More players in the same spot, more aoe circles around. The more you move around, the bigger overall area the part of barrage designated for you will cover (but then, the density will be lower).

The usual advice is to move only as absolutely needed. Flow like molasses, rather than churning like water (that is quickly circling down the drain).

Near as I can tell, the timing on the barrage hasn’t changed. It’s more that I find myself wondering why it’s taking so long sooner and sooner. It’s easy to check, tho: there’s a buff-bar icon showing how much time is remaining before you can stealth.

In both attempts, at least two people were running all over the area. I wasn’t sure if the barrage mechanic had been changed. It feels long when there’s no one left up except you and maybe one other player.

Then you have your answer. Even a single person running randomly around can sometimes kill everyone else. Two would definitely be a massive pain.

I don’t think its been changed. The barrage phase is rather boring to me though, I wish it could be revamped so that it doesn’t last as long but still poses roughly the same “challenge” to parties.

Everything they said: a clumped group generally results in someone dying, might be useful to grab a weapon/utility with some mobility for those situations.

@Ori agreed, like so many other mechanics in fractals, they become incredibly tedious after you’ve run em a dozen times or so. Mai Trin, for instance, is fine but three phases seems rather silly as two would be more than plenty and perhaps have her provide more of a challenge once her shield is down.
